NFL 2024 "Chain Game"
Not sure what to call it so I'll call it a "chain game".
What is that? Great question. Something a little different. It's very unconditional in terms of sports games. It's sort of a variant on a suicide pool but there will be no eliminations. The idea is everyone starts with a team of their choosing. You keep that team until they lose. Then you keep the team that beat them until they lose. Rinse and repeat until the season is over (not including playoffs as any team that makes the playoffs would just have a chain that ends with the Super Bowl winner). The prediction is... what team will you end up with. Example: Let's say I say the Jets as my starting team (first you may check me for brain injuries but then on to the game). Week 1 they lose to the 49ers, so the team switches to the 49ers. Week 2 the 49ers beat the Vikings Week 3 the 49ers beat the Rams Week 4 the 49ers beat the Patriots Week 5 the 49ers beat the Cardinals Week 6 the 49ers lose to the Seahawks, so it now switches to the Seahawks Week 7 the Seahawks beat the Falcons Week 8 the Seahawks lose to the Bills, the team switches to the Bills Week 9 the Bills beat the Dolphins Week 10 the Bills beat the Colts Week 11 the Bills lose to the Chiefs Week 12 the Chiefs beat the Panthers (probably resting most of the team after the 1st quarter) Week 13 the Chiefs beat the Raiders Week 14 the Chiefs beat the Chargers Week 15 the Chiefs beat the Browns Week 16 the Chiefs beat the Texans Week 17 the Chiefs lose to the Steelers, the Steelers become the team Week 18 the Steelers lose to the Bengals, the Bengals are the team now If the Bengals don't make the playoffs they would be the final team in this chain. If I said the Bengals would be the final team in the chain I would be correct. I would need to supply the starting team and the links of the chain along the way. Getting points for each correct link (team change). So in the above scenario I would say: Starting Team: Jets Chain: 49ers, Seahawks, Bills, Chiefs, Steelers Ending Team: Bengals You earn points. 15 points for every exactly correct link (like Jets losing to the 49ers above). 25 points for ending on the correct team 5 points for every team in your predicted chain that is used (example, I have the 49ers beating the Jets but if they don't and the Jets lose to a different team and if the 49ers somehow ended up in the chain I wouldn't get the 15 points for the exact order but I would get 5 points for them appearing in the chain). It sounded easier in my head.

Usually we do the basic version of this at the office where you pick a different team every week (can't pick a team youve already picked) until only one person is left standing with a string of teams that have won every week. One year, it lasted only 3 weeks and we actually restarted it in week 4. But normally, it doesn't go past 6 or 7 weeks.
I say all that to say, in your version I'd be surprised if it got 4 weeks before everyone was out unless you had hundreds of participants.
