Werewolf XXVI: The Thing - GAME OVER! THINGS WIN!!!

You are a member of a team of scientists who have been assigned to a small base in the most remote, desolate and deadly place in the world: Antarctica.

As you arrive, you realize that something is wrong with the base: There seems to be no sign of the group of norwegian scientists you are supposed to be taking over for.

After a few moments of looking around in silence, you hear the distinct sound of a helicopter coming toward the base from the south. As the chopper comes into view, you see someone (presumably one the norwegians) firing a gun at some type of animal running toward the base. Suddenly, the helicopter veers sharply to the side and then crashes into the ice below. The explosion is immense, but through the smoke and flames, you see that the animal is still alive and running toward you.

The animal, a beautiful malamute, arrives and you and your fellow scientists quickly take it into the base. Inside, you find an apparent chain-link kennel with several other malamute sled dogs barking at your appearance. You put the dog into the kennel, and then go to search the rest of the base.

After you investigate further, you find no signs of a struggle within the base, so you relax a bit and try to get daily life within the complex going.......

This is my first attempt at running a WW game, so please be patient with me. Also, I apologize if my descriptions were bad or inaccurate in the above text, but I'm trying to recall the movie without having seen it for months.

Anyway, I'm still working out some of the roles and such, but I wanted to get the sign ups going. We should be starting in a few days, and I will have an outline of how we're going to be doing things soon.

Crap!

I didn't want to play again so soon, but I LOVE The Thing. How can I miss out on a game based on a movie as great as that?

Count me in...

Schmidty that font is IMPOSSIBLE to read on my monitor. I'm on spring break and could join a werewolf game, but I have to be able to read it.

I use Sideline Green, so the red font is super hard to for me to read, but I guess I can switch for the duration of this game.

I probably won't start until wednesday or thursday, since I have quite a bit of work left over from last week that'll be swamping me on monday and tuesday.

This might end up being WW0 with all of the people that have PMed me that they can't play, and all the people I've seen in the thread who haven't signed up.

Don't despair. Some wait until rules have been posted. Others just dwaddle. You'll get your sign-ups.

If we don't get to 20 players by tomorrow, I'm postponing my WW game for awhile.

Life is going to get hectic starting this weekend with my in-laws coming into town, and my wife taking two weeks off of work. I would have already canceled/ postponed, but I'm pretty excited about this game, and I didn't want to be a turd and miss my spot in the order.

Anyway, if this falls through this time, I won't be pissed or anything, but I will want to take the next spot in the order.

Not necessarily. Like I said above, if I get up to 20 players by tomorrow/friday, I'll still do it now. If not, I'm going to have to wait.

I don't think it has anything to do with you. It's Spring Break for the kiddies and March Madness for the sports nuts. I didn't join because we're going out of town tomorrow and won't be back until Sunday, just didn't seem fair to the other players to be inactive that long.

100% agree with SnDvls in terms of the timing of the event being challenging, not the moderator.

If this game is pushed back to April I would definitely play.

If I pushed it back that far, would I get trumped by some other WW moderator, and would the people that signed up even play?

Maybe we all need a WW break.

In terms of order, I would certainly let you run your game before mine comes around. And I wouldn't be surprised if other people feel the same way.

I would think that if someone wanted to run a smaller game (8-12 person) that this might be an ideal time for it. But the larger games (15-25+) probably will struggle for get their numbers over the next 7-10 days with the start of the NCAA tournament + spring break.

I know that I am next, but I will not start my game until March Madness is over because I won't be able to devote enough time to WW. That is also why I haven't signed up for this game.

If we hold off until a couple of weeks I'll have to pass on this game. I start LAFD Fire Academy March 27th and there's no way I'd have enough time to play in a WW game.

While I agree 14 is decent, and hope Schmidty would consider running his game. However, if someone is interested in hosting a 9 person game I have a good format to suggest. I would do it myself, except I am going to be hosting my To Crown a King game starting on Monday elsewhere and don't want to be hosting on two different boards simultainously.
