Well, what looked to be a solid class has me concerned. Don't get me wrong...we are getting some good players. But when I thought we had a 4* fullback, a solid punter, better depth for the offensive line, basically filling in positions that have been impossible to fill, I feel let down. We have a ton of RB's and WR's that look like sure things to come in, but I can't use all of them.

At least some of these soft-commits held out until the off-season. Maybe I can pry them away then.

Nice! We stuck it to the Boilermakers, and won a close game. Jefferson played pretty average, going 12 of 24 for 131 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

The real story here, once again, is Mills. On 35 carries, he picked up 241 yards on the ground with 2 TD's. Great job!

Kind of a surprising game here. Notre Dame opened up the game with 14 straight points and never let up.

Their defense probably won them the game though. They held Oklahoma to just 39 rushing yards, and also held them to 1 for 11 on 3rd down.

Oklahoma loses it's 2nd national championship game in a row after winning the 2009 game.

I started off by spending 40 minutes with Forst. He told me he needed some time to think about it. Great.

Stroud was another story. After only 20 minutes, he broke down and told me he wasn't ready for the next level and needed another year of college ball.

With that over with, let's get back to Forst. I need him. Bad. I spent another 25 minutes with him, but he was intent on getting paid for his skills. I can't blame him, but I'm screwed at tackle now.

Week One:

First things first...let's fill up this board. I lost a lot of players, so I went through the database and found some players that could potentially sign with us last minute.

The next thing I wanna do is make a final push for a lot of the players that have soft-committed to other schools. Last year I got lucky and stole some away with a final push.

After doing that, I went through and talked to everyone who didn't have me first on their list. I still have some time leftover. Also, I basically promised all of those players that they would get good national exposure at our school.

Now, I'm going to use the rest of my time to schedule visits with any players that have us listed as 1st but have someone else at a close 2nd.

Week Two:

Hell yea! We landed eight recruits at the start of the week, including 4* DE Guererro who had soft-committed to another team previously! I noticed that some of the players who had soft-committed still hadn't gotten a scholarship from the team they committed to.

Well, it wasn't as fun as I though. The game seems pretty limited when it comes to position changes. I was hoping to move a DE to FB or something fun like that. Plus, it's rediculous that Martin, an 89 speed goes down to 70 speed when moved to FB.

2011/2012 Recruting Review

I'm excited about a lot of the players I got, but I definitely missed out on some spots. My offensive line is just plain bad right now, but I definitely am set at the skill positions for a long time.

Let's take a look at what my goals were.

Major Needs:

Fullback: Once again, we'll be looking for a fullback. We really need one this time.

I almost landed a 4* FB, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm still not happy with this position, but I ended up getting enough new running backs to allow me to move an existing one to FB. We'll see how it works out.

Wide Receiver: Last year we skimped here, but we'll have a lot of guys getting ready to leave at the same time. Now is the time to get at least one solid new guy in here to groom for the future.

Yea. We got a ton of new guys here. One 4* and four 3*'s.

Tight End: This could be our biggest need. Our starter is rated a 57.

Eh. Got nothin' here this year. And none of our WR's looked like they could convert either. I still suck at TE.

Guard: Our interior depth is just plain terrible. I'd like to get a future starter and maybe a solid JUCO for depth.

I *almost* had two 4* guards, but I had to settle for one. My offensive line looks dreadful right now, so I'm really pissed.

Tackle: Our two starter's are a JR and SR, and the two guys developing beneath them aren't sure things. I'd love to get a great run blocker.

Totally missed this one. I wasn't even looking for a stud, but I missed out on all three targets.

Kicker: Definitely in need of one after the fiasco last recruiting season.

Well, I recruited yet another 1* K and again, he turned out to be a 40-something. So, I moved the punter I recruited over to kicker. He'll do for now.

Punter: With a walk on punting for us, I'd like to get someone who didn't come in off the streets.

Got one, but moved him to kicker. The walk-on will be fine for another year.

Minor Needs:

Defensive Tackle: I love our guys there now, but I'd love to get a guy to groom under Vallone.

Landed a 3* recruit here. Nothing special but he'll provide some depth.

Defensive End: Not a huge need, but I'd love to get a sack-machine to go along with Page.

Really lucked out here. Geurerro had soft-committed somewhere else but I stole him back. He looks great and will probably start this year.

Middle Linebacker: I haven't had a great player here yet. Our two OLB's are great and the future looks good there, but I need a speedy tackler to put in between them.

Still don't have the solid player I'm looking for, but I did get a 2* player here.

Strong Safety: Scott is a project and I'd like more of a sure thing.

I got a 2* recruit here and also moved a 4* ATH to SS. We'll see how that goes.

Forst was the anchor of our line at both RT for a while and then LT last year. Our offensive line is in shambles without him.

Pipeline:

Our pipeline states are NJ, NY, PA, and FL.

Major Needs:

Strong Safety: Carter is leaving after this season and I don't have a surefire replacement ready yet. I need to try and get a blue chip prospect to step in right away.

Middle Linebacker: With Legrand in his last year, we have the same deal as above. Capable players beneath him, but no sure-things.

Tackle/Guard: Need a lot of players for the line. I need at least two tackles and two guards.

Tight End: Still searching.

Fullback: Not sure how the converted RB will do. I'd like a true FB.

Defensive Tackle: Vallone is graduating and Page is always a risk to leave for the draft. I definitely need some major help here.

Minor Needs:

Cornerback: I love our corner situation but our 3rd/4th are in their JR or SR years. Plus, My two starters are sophmores, and that's the best time to get the future starters in.

Another long process of stocking talent has begun. I'm going to try a similar strategy to what I did last year.

First thing I want to do is offer everyone who has us listed as #1 a scholarship. If I can get them out of the way now, I won't have to spend any extra time on them.
