dola- If lerriuqs feels I was bullying him I apologize. The last thing I want to do is turn off new players.

Lathum was bullying, and he's allowed to defend himself in whatever way he sees fit. It did seem a bit over the top, even more than usual, though, for Lathum. I'll keep that in mind, under the category "outside of normal behavior" for Lathum.

Glad to see lerriuqs won't be shaken by a pronounced attack on his stance, although I will also note he quite willingly put out the first "second vote" (followed shortly by USFLTecmo). Here at FOFC WW, we don't always look so kindly on second votes on Day One, particularly without good reason. Fortunately for lerriuqs, we usually tend to give newbies a pass early on, too, so I guess if you have to make that play sometime, might as well be first game.

Anyone got a list of who hasn't checked in?

I will be in and out, as I am at work, and am not inclined to post much from here (here to work, after all). Improvement on the past, of course, when I couldn't even reach here from work. I plan to cast a late vote, to get more info, so don't expect a vote from me before late afternoon.

I'll make clear that I think what I will do is hold on until later this evening. If no one has drawn any clear suspicion I'll probably vote someone who hasn't shown up yet. I hate to randomly lynch someone who's actually been here playing, so that seems fairest to me.

I'd say the way you defended yourself was WAY over the top considering the situation. Day one, really not in any danger at the moment. You were over the top given the situation. That is something for the rest of us office workers to keep in mind.

I don't really think I was over the top, I was genuinly curious about his voting me.

I am a firm believer day 1 discussion is good. I could just as easily sit idley by but there is no fun in that.

Umm, this vote spread is really bad for us. We really need to narrow this down if we are to learn anything from today's voting.

I'd prefer not to lynch someone who is in their first game on day 1, and I'd also prefer not to lynch Hoops day one since he is a extremely helpful villager and a will probably end up scanned anyway in case he is a wolf. So that puts it between Clap and Abe.

Vote Claphamsa

This vote is subject to change, and there's really no reason for this vote over Abe.

Clap 2 Lathum ( 114), Passacaglia (158)
Hoops 2 PerdueBrad ( 115) Jackal (165)
Abe 2 BK (110), USFLTechmo ( 139)
Lathum 1 Clap ( 107)
Jackal 1 Hoops (109)
BK 1 Abe (122)
Autumn 1 lerriuqs ( 136)
Cartman 1 MartinD ( 164)
Lerriuqs 1 Cartman( 167)
Poli 1 Schmidty ( 172)

OK, vote count with who voted where.

A couple of things stick out for me. The first is Schmidty, Cartman and Martin introducing new candidates. I am a big fan of narrowing things down day 1. In the last 3 votes they bought in 3 more people. That really hurts our analysis down the road. The one that really stinks to me is Cartmans vote. Martin votes Cartman, then instead of voting back on MartinD, Cartman chooses to vote Lerriuqs. Either way a new candidate is being introduced, so why the vote for Martin?

Also, I know Schmidty is going to say he has a standing day 1 vote for Poli, IMO that doesn't buy him anything since he did the same thing last game and was a wolf.

dola - Cartman's vote strikes me as trying to bury his vote and not draw any attention. Which as it goes is exactly what the vote ended up doing.

remember, I don't do these often, so there is no well developed strategy on my part. I was just trying to get another vote out there on on someone that didn't have a vote yet.

Dola,

So in my view, it wouldn't have mattered voting back at Martin, or voting for lerriuqs. Both would have had one vote.

and thats what makes it look so bad.

Day 1 the only people who have any information to vote with are wolves. The rest of us are flying blind.

There are about 8 people with votes on them right now, by introducing another one it muddies the waters further, making it harder to analyze later on.

Plus by you introducing a new candidate you are avoiding scrutiny. Odds are Martin won't be lynched so you face no questions tomorrow, in essence you are burying your vote as opposed to putting a vote on someone who already has a few votes.

I'm not going to vote for you today because I know you don't play ofter, but if it was someone who plays more they would be getting my vote.

To what end? Do you really think that a pair of (relative) newbie "wolves" would be casting D1 votes on each other, trying to avoid linkage, etc? For the most part, I would expect most new wolves to completely avoid each other on Day 1. No voting each other, no mentioning each other in thread, no responding to each other, etc.

I do not think that I'll be voting for Cartman today. And I'll accept whatever linkage that may or may not suggest. Bottom line, I do not think that this is your best argument.
