TBCB - World Middleweight Council

The Middleweight division has always been my favorite division around. There always seems to be enough of a combination of boxers and sluggers to make things interesting. This is my third boxing dynasty and it will be different than the other two.

I will be using TBCB 2 and a mixture of real fighters, both current and historical as well as fictional fighters that will mainly serve as cannon fodder. The premise will be the complete formation of a new boxing council that where everyone is brand new. There are no records being carried from other organizations and fighters will age as they normally would in the ring.

From this perspective, there should be a good mix of dominating fighters as well as a host of fighters who will try their hands in this career and be sent packing on their way out the door.

Initially 16 fighters have been chosen at random to start the series off. They will face off in a 16 man single elimination tournament and the champion will be crowned at the end. From here one event will be held a month at one of four negotiated sites. These sites will rotate on a monthly basis. One of the sites will be a more prestigious and thus more expensive arena that will host title fights every time. One site will be small, and mainly designed for openers and guys to make their way to the top, and the other two will be mainly contender fights, and support cards.

The Champ will then defend his title 3 times a year. New fighters will be brought into the game as others leave, and as a history begins to develop. Ideally, I would like to settle around 30 or so fighters, and the possibility of adding events as we age is there as well. As far as rankings are concerned I think that there may be a couple of ways to do it. The game has a system that will provide some insight, and I think that I can figure out something if it doesn't.

Generic trainers and cut men will be used with all the fighters, and real refs will be used. Standing eight will be in effect and three knockdown rule does not apply. The fighter can only be saved in the last round and only the ref can stop the fight. Judges will be assigned at random and their bias ratings will be used. If a fighter is the defending champ they will also be the beneficiary of bias as well.

Without further adoo.....

Here is our roster of 16 fighters

  1. Freddie Apostoli
  2. Jonathan Assous
  3. Gilbert Baptist
  4. Carmen Basilio
  5. Luis Manuel Fabri
  6. Jimmy Flood
  7. Ruggero Iasi
  8. Pierre Langolis
  9. William Lee
  10. Jonathan McGrath
  11. Kevin Morrison
  12. Albert Ostheim
  13. Kahlid Ramzi
  14. Stuart Robinson
  15. Leandro Rocha
  16. Keith Tamlin

Round 1 for the World Middleweight Title!

We are excited to bring you this initial event for the Middleweight title. Round one will be fought tonight and will feature 8 fights. After tonight, the eight winners will come back next week and square off in round two. That will continue until we have 2 men remaining to fight for the World Middleweight Championship. Each round will be held here, ending with the title match in 4 weeks.

We have a near sellout crowd of 4,343 people to see round one. Here are the fights for tonight:

Stuart Robinson v. Ruggero Iasi
Albert Ostheim v. Jason McGrath
Luis Manuel Fabri v, Jonathan Assous
Pierre Langolis v. William Lee
Leandro Rocha v. Freddie Apostoli
Khalid Ramzi v. Gilbert Baptist
Keith Tamlin v. Jimmy Flood
Carmen Basilio v. Kevin Morrison

Here we go!
Stuart Robinson v. Ruggero Iasi

This one goes the distance between these two sluggers. Ruggero Iasi gets the unanimous decision win 96-94, 97-93, and 97-93. And Iasi is through to the next round.

Albert Ostheim v. Jason McGrath

This fight goes the distance and ends up being a very close fight. In the end Albert Ostheim wins a split decision over McGrath. 97-96, 97-96, and 96-97. Ostheim is in the second round.

Luis Manuel Fabri v, Jonathan Assous

Our third fight goes the distance. Fabri was floored in round 3 and was troubled by a cut over his right eye. The cut caused him major problems, but his corner did a good job of closing it up. The scores were 96-93, 97-93, and 96-93. Assous wins the unanimous decision.

Pierre Langolis v. William Lee

Quite and eventful fight! William Lee put Langolis down twice in this match, in the third and the tenth and landed a number of punches that staggered Langolis. Langolis had a hard time with the power of Lee and just couldn't duck fast enough. The fight went the distance and in the end the winner was William Lee by unanimous decision. 97-91, 95-93 and 96-92.

Leandro Rocha v. Freddie Apostoli

Apostoli makes short work of Rocha. He unleashed a fury to start the round and put him down toward the end of the round. Rocha only managed a couple of punches before he was knocked out by Apostoli. An impressive win for Apostoli.
Khalid Ramzi v. Gilbert Baptist

This fight goes the distance and Ramzi looks rough in the end. His left eye very swollen as he was thoroughly beaten round after round. Baptist wins handily 99-91, 98-92 and 97-94. Baptist looked in command.

Keith Tamlin v. Jimmy Flood

The crowed liked this one. It was all Flood from the opening bell. He his hard and often as he dominated Tamlin. Tamlin was knocked down late into the round, but managed to regain his feet. A few more seconds of pounding and the ref had seen enough. Flood scores a first round TKO.

Carmen Basilio v. Kevin Morrison

Basilio just about killed Morrison. An uppercut that landed about a minute into the fight was all he needed to stop Morrison. Unable to get up, Basilio wins his first fight in style, with a first round KO.

And that is all for round one. Some tough fights lie ahead next week and they are:

Ruggero Iasi (1-0-0) v. Albert Ostheim (1-0-0)
Jonathan Assous (1-0-0) v. William Lee (1-0-0)
Freddy Apostoli (1-0-0(1)) v. Gilbert Baptist (1-0-0)
Jimmy Flood (1-0-0(1)) v. Carmen Basilio (1-0-0(1))

Join us right here next week!

Round 2 for the World Middleweight Title!

Four fights are scheduled for tonight. The winners of tonights matches will come back here next week for the semi finals in the competition. We have 4615 spectators here for tonights show. Let's get to the fights!

Here we go!

Ruggero Iasi (1-0-0) v. Albert Ostheim (1-0-0)

This was quite possibly the dirtiest fight in the tournament so far. Both fighters were repeatedly warned for various fouls. Ostheim surprised Iasi in the second and Iasi was barely able to beat the 10 count. He regained his composure and held on, and fought hard, cutting Ostheim on the top of the head. The scores were 98-91, 95-94 and 95-94 all for Ruggero Iasi. He moves on to the semi finals.

Jonathan Assous (1-0-0) v. William Lee (1-0-0)

Lee exercised his power over Assous with a determined second round KO of Assous. Assous was hit hard a couple of times, but he ended up going down twice in the round and stayed down after the second time. Lee impressively moves on to the semi finals where he will face Iasi.

Freddy Apostoli (1-0-0(1)) v. Gilbert Baptist (1-0-0)

This fight went the distance and Apostoli was solid through the fight. Baptist finished the fight with a nasty cut under his left eye as well as some pronounced swelling of that eye. Apostoli landed over three times as many punches as Baptist and cruised controlling the fight from start to finish. The scores were 98-92, 100-91 and 99-91. Freddy Apostoli is in the semi finals.

Jimmy Flood (1-0-0(1)) v. Carmen Basilio (1-0-0(1))

A fantastic fight from start to finish. Flood came out strong and had the lead in the early rounds, but a combination from Basilio put him down in the sixth. From there on out, Basilio only seemed to get stronger scoring another knockdown in the 9th and commanding the later rounds. The scoring was 96-92, 97-91 and 98-90. All for Carmen Basilio. He will face Apostoli in the semi finals.

That is all for today! Here is the linup for next week's matches:

Ruggero Iasi 2-0-0 v. William Lee 2-0-0(1)
Freddy Apostoli 2-0-0(1) v. Carmen Basilio 2-0-0(1)

The semi-finals for the World Middleweight Title!

With only two fights to go for the title. With a reduced schedule for this week's fights we only have 2386 in attendance. Next week will be a full card with the title fight as the main event. Will is be Iasi, Lee, Apostoli or Basilio?

Here we go!

Ruggero Iasi 2-0-0 v. William Lee 2-0-0(1)

Iasi came to fight in this one, but his biggest obstacle was Lee. Lee had some trouble scoring in this one, but when he did he made it count. He landed hard shots, and Iasi gamely stayed in front of him. But he couldn't keep it up for very long. In the 7th a short uppercut from Lee put Iasi down, where he stayed. William Lee will fight for the WMC Title next week.

Freddy Apostoli 2-0-0(1) v. Carmen Basilio 2-0-0(1)

Controversy stews in WMC! A huge fight between these two fighters. Both men landed good punches. Each round was a see saw battle. Apostoli landed more punches, but Basilio kept things close. A bad cut was opened early over the right eye of Apsotoli. He dealt with it, but his corner was not successful at getting it closed. Apostoli continued to fight hard. Later in round 7 Basilio opened another cut, this was a bad one under his left eye. The pairing of the cuts was severe enough for the ref to halt the fight. Basilio wins via TKO in the 7th round. At the time of the stoppage, two judges had the fight even, while the third judge had Apostoli ahead by two.

See you in one week!

AUSTIN, TX(AP) – The World Middleweight Boxing Commission has announced the support card for this week's fight at the Convention center here in Austin. The WMC, a newly formed boxing group, is completing its first tournament to crown it's first champion. The headliners for this week's fights are William Lee and Carmen Basilio. Lee and Basilio both were impressive in their runs up to this week's title match. Both men scoring two wins by KO. The winner will defend the title in four months here in Austin, at the Convention Center.

Other venues are scheduled for the WMC. Next month's fights will be held at the Hartford Sheraton in Hartford, Conneticut. In April, the WMC will be in Wisconsin at the Grand Ballroom of the Ho-Chunk Casino and Convention Center in Baraboo. In May the fights will take place at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in Canton, OH. And in June, the title will be on the line here in Austin. The WMC has decided that smaller venues, less expensive are the way to start, however, the group is always looking to add more venues as well as fighters if they have success.

  1. Kevin Morrison 0-1-0 v. Leandro Rocha 0-1-0
  2. Khalid Ramzi 0-1-0 v. Luis Manuel Fabri 0-1-0

  4. Gilbert Baptist 1-1-0 v. Jimmy Flood 1-1-0(1)
  5. Ruggero Iasi 2-1-0 v. Freddy Apostoli 2-1-0(1)
  6. William Lee 3-0-0(2) v. Carmen Basilio 3-0-0(2)

The Finals for the World Middleweight Title!

We have a full card of fights tonight, and a full house of 5000 in the arena. A good turnout for tonight's fights. Let's get right to the action with tonight's opening fight.

Kevin Morrison 0-1-0 v. Leandro Rocha 0-1-0

The fight goes the distance and the scorecards read 97-92, 97-92 and 97-92 all for Kevin Morrison, who was not only knocked down in the third but also had a point deduction for a flagrant headbutt.

Khalid Ramzi 0-1-0 v. Luis Manuel Fabri 0-1-0

A close fight until the end. 96-94, 95-95 and 96-94 for Luis Manuel Fabri. Ramzi was fighting swelling on his right eye from early in the fight, it played a significant part in the outcome.

Albert Ostheim 1-1-0 v. Jonathan Assous 1-1-0

Assous controlled this fight from start to finish, and put Ostheim down in the 5th round. 97-92, 97-92 and 98-91.

Gilbert Baptist 1-1-0 v. Jimmy Flood 1-1-0(1)

The crowd was none too happy about this one. A lot of holding and dancing and not a whole lot of action. Neither fighter was really hurt and Baptist lost a point for a low blow. 96-93, 95-94 and 96-93 all for Jimmy Flood.

Ruggero Iasi 2-1-0 v. Freddy Apostoli 2-1-0(1)

This battle between both semi finalists was a one sided affair. Iasi was in the ring, but that was the extent of it. Apostoli looked very good. He moved around and landed at will. Iasi showed heart despite being hurt in almost every round. Fatigue got the best of him and he went down for good in the 10th.

William Lee 3-0-0(2) v. Carmen Basilio 3-0-0(2)
For the WMC Title! This is a 12 round fight!

Round 1: Both men took turns landing hard shots, but Basilio was busier in the round.
Round 2: Again big punches land on both sides, and again Basilio is the busier fighter.
Round 3: Lee takes the round hurting Basilio twice in the round.
Round 4: Basilio counters well and avoids a lot of damage and dishes out some of his own.
Round 5: Basilio seems to be finding a groove and controls most of the round.
Round 6: Lee lands a couple but nothing with any power to disrupt the flow of Basilio.
Round 7: Lee landed a big punch, but it didn't deter Basilio, it just made him angrier.
Round 8: Lee is gassed and Basilio catches him coming in with a cross that ends the fight.

Carmen Basilio is the new WMC Champion! By way of KO in round 8.

Live from the Hartford Sheraton in Hartford, Connecticut!

Thanks for coming and we hope that you enjoy the show. This is the first appearance in what is going to become a regular visit to Hartford. For this week's fights we have 280 fans in attendance. Not quite the turnout that we had hoped but hopefully we can put on a show that all will enjoy. We are going to utilize our venue here at the Sheraton as a proving ground for our fighters that are lower on the card and others who are making their debuts. There won't be too many big names, but this is where you will come to see the up and comers and guys who are trying to make a name for themselves. We picked this venue because it provides visibility in a larger marketing area and it is fairly cheap. With only 500 seats to fill it is the perfect place for our show.

Let's get right to the fights!

Charley Joseph 0-0-0 v. Stuart Robinson 0-1-0

Joseph makes his debut against Robinson. He takes Robinson the distance and does so with little trouble. 100-90, 99-91 and 100-91 all for Joseph.

Pierre Langolis 0-1-0 v. Keith Tamlin 0-1-0

Langolis hurt Tamlin early, and Tamlin had both of his eye's swelling shut. He couldn't see anything coming his way, and while the ref didn't stop the bout for swelling, Tamlin was getting pummled and he ended it in the 4th.

Jonathan McGrath 0-1-0 v. Albert Ostheim 1-2-0

A rematch from round one of the tournament where Ostheim won. This one goes the distance 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92, all for Jonathan McGrath.

Kevin Morrison 1-1-0 v. Luis Manuel Fabri 1-1-0

Fabri smoothly wins a majority of the rounds, but Morrison scores a cross out of nowhere that KO's Fabri late in the 10th.

Leandro Rocha 0-2-0 v. Kahlid Ramzi 0-2-0

It's over before it really gets going. Rocha lands a liver shot and Ramzi is out in the first.

Jimmy Flood 2-1-0(1) v. Jonathan Assous 2-1-0(0)

Flood makes short work of Assous by knocking him down in the first and third, then finishing with him on queer street in the 4th. Assous really never had a chance in this, and certainly didn't look like he had in his previous victories. Flood has to be mentioned when you talk about the top fighters in the division.

Live from the from the Grand Ballroom of the Ho-Chunk Casino and Convention Center in Baraboo, Wisconson! Welcome to WMC Boxing!

We have a near capacity crowd of 800 for tonights fights. Our fights tonight feature a battle of contenders. Jimmy Flood will take on Freddie Apostoli, and the winner will face Will Lee next month for a chance to challenge Basilio for the title. Also on tonights card is Will Lee, fighting on the co-feature. He will fight young Luis Manuel Fabri in a tuneup for next month. Charley Joseph, who debuted last month in Hartford is fighting Jonathan McGrath who is coming off of his first win. Let's get right to the fights.

Here we go!

Keith Tamlin 0-2-0(0) v. Stuart Robinson 0-2-0(0)

99-92, 98-93 and 98-93 all for Keith Tamlin.

Gilbert Baptist 1-2-0(0) v. Leandro Rocha 1-2-0(1)

Baptist KO's Rocha in the 10th, and he was ahead on all cards at the time.

Jonathan McGrath 1-1-0(0) v. Charley Joseph 1-0-0(0)

Joseph wins by TKO in the 8th round. McGrath was cut under his right eye, over his left eye and his left eye was almost completely shut. Joseph wins with a solid performance. He was way ahead on all 3 judges cards.

Ruggero Iasi 2-2-0(0) v. Kevin Morrison 2-1-0(1)

A tough fight to score. Both fighters were warned by the ref several times for cheating, and neither fighter seemed to be able to gain the upper hand. Many fans at ringside seemed to think that Iasi had won the fight. 94-95, 95-95 and 97-93. The fight was scored a draw.

William Lee 3-1-0(2) v. Luis Manuel Fabri 1-2-0(0)

Lee did well, but he has to be dissapointed that he was unable to get the KO agianst Fabri. Fabri did well and hung in there for a long time. The fight was stopped in the 7th due to a cut from an accidental headbutt. It went to the scorecards. 58-55, 59-54 and 59-54 all for William Lee.

Freddie Apostoli 3-1-0(2) v. Jimmy Flood 3-1-0(2)

A tough fight for both men. Flood seemed to have success in bunches while Apostoli landed many more hard shots that stopped Flood. As the rounds lingered on Apostoli seemed to gain strength and more control of the fight, but Flood didn't go away. The crowd seemed to think that Apostoli had the fight. 94-96, 95-95 and 96-94. This fight has ended in a draw and a big question mark on who is going to face William Lee next month in Canton.

Welcome to the Canton Memorial Civic Center in beautiful Canton, Ohio for WMC Boxing action!

We have a nice crowd of 2854 on hand for tonight's fights. Our headliner for this month is WMC Chamion Carmen Basilio. Tonight the Champ takes on Ruggero Iasi in a warm up match in preparation of his title defense next month in Austin. That leads us to another interesting bit of information. Last month's battle between Freddie Apostoli and Jimmy Flood left us with no clear challenger to face William Lee. So both of those men will face each other again this month in a rematch. At the same time, Lee will fight Basilio next month in Austin for the title.

Also on tonight's card you will see rising star Charley Joseph. Joseph has won both his initial fights and he will face Jonathan Assous. In the opener, you will see a battle between the two fighters who have yet to register a win in the WMC, Kahlid Ramzi and Stuart Robinson. Two other fights are on the schedule as well. Let's start the show!

Kahlid Ramzi 0-3-0 v. Stuart Robinson 0-3-0

95-94, 95-94 and 96-93 all for Stuart Robinson in a close fight.

Luis Manuel Fabri 1-3-0 v. Albert Ostheim 1-3-0

The ref stops the fight due to the severity of the cuts suffered by Fabri. Ostheim wins by TKO. Ostheim was ahead on two of three cards.

Pierre Langolis 1-1-0(1) v. Gilbert Baptist 2-2-0(1)

Baptist had to deal with a very swollen eye during this fight from some punishement received in the second round. For the most part Langolis did well with the 1-2 from the outside and kept Baptist at bay. 97-93, 96-94, 97-93 all for Pierre Langolis.

Charley Joseph 2-0-0(1) v. Jonathan Assous 2-2-0

Joseph clearly outworked Assous through the entire fight, despite the couple of big punches that Assous landed. Assous showed a strong chin, and the ability to absorb lots of punches, but showed little in the way of offense. 99-90, 100-89, and 97-92 all for Charley Joseph. Another win for the fighter.

Freddy Apostoli 3-1-1(2) v. Jimmy Flood 3-1-1(2)

Apostoli with a strong performance! This will certainly be no tie. Flood was backpedaling from the beginning and there was no sign of the power that kept Apostoli going backward in their first fight. Apostoli put Flood down in the 8th but he was able to get back up. However, the wasn't much fight left in him. It went to the cards and it looked like this. 97-92, 97-92 and 99-90 all for Freddy Apostoli.

Carmen Basilio 4-0-0(3) v. Ruggero Iasi 2-2-1(0)

A good workout for Basilio, he gave the crowd exactly what we were hoping for. Iasi proved to be a game fighter, but took quite a bit of punishment. Each round Basilio seemed to land more and more shots, until Iasi, who never went down, was essentially out on his feet and could do nothing more. The ref stepped in and stopped it in round 8.

Welcome back to the Austin Convention Center!

Tonight, Carmen Basilio will defend his title for the first time. The fight will be a rematch with William Lee. The two fought for the title back in February. In that fight, Basilio wore down Lee and knocked him out in the 8th round. Lee will need to rely on his power against Basilio, and hope that he can catch him coming in. This has to be dissapointing to Freddy Apostoli who has to feel like he got a raw deal in all of this. He was stopped by Basilio in their match because of cuts, in a fight that he felt he was winning. Instead of being the top contender he has to fight Jimmy Flood. They draw in their first fight, and he misses the chance to challenge Lee for the shot at the title.

All the big names are here tonight fighting for you here in Austin. Apostoli is the other feature fight for tonight. He is facing Albert Ostheim. Ostheim hasn't been exactly running up the ranks, but I am sure that isn't what is on Apostoli's mind this evening.

Undefeated Charley Joseph is also on the card, and he has a stiff test in Jimmy Flood. Flood is certainly no slouch and wants to show that he belongs at the top, despite the beating that Freddie Apostoli gave him last month. Other fights are also scheduled, let's go to the ring! This crowd of 4600 is ready to go!

Keith Tamlin1-2-0(0) v. Jonathan McGrath 1-2-0(0)

97-95, 97-93 and 97-93 all for Keith Tamlin.

Gilbert Baptist 2-3-0(1) v. Jonathan Assous 2-3-0(0)

Baptist really outclassed Assous, put him down in the 8th and closed his right eye in the 10th. Assous was out on his feet before the ref stopped the fight. Baptist's stock is rising. Baptist by TKO in the 10th.

Pierre Langolis 2-1-0(1) v. Kevin Morrison 2-1-1(1)

Langolis did well and had Morrison's number for most of the fight. 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92 all for Pierre Langolis.

Charley Joseph 3-0-0(1) v. Jimmy Flood 3-2-1(2)

Flood wanted to use his power against Joseph, and that would have worked except he couldn't find Joseph. Joseph skillfully boxed circles around Flood time and time again. Flood did land a few hard shots that stunned Joseph, but his wild punches and flailing arms did him no favors with the judges. This is a very tough loss for Flood because it knocks him from the title contenders to the challengers. As for Joseph, this is a solid win against a solid fighter. He is still undefeated and on the rise. 97-93, 99-91 and 97-93.

Freddie Apostoli 4-1-1(2) v. Albert Ostheim 2-3-0(1)

Freddie Apostoli sent a message tonight. And that message was “I want the title!” He KO's Ostheim at 1:21 in the first round.

Carmen Basilio 5-0-0(3) v. William Lee 4-1-0(2)
This fight is for the WMC Title and is scheduled for 12 rounds.

Round 1: WOW! I never saw this coming! Just as the fight is starting Basilio lands an upstairs-downstairs combo and just flattens Lee. Lee cannot make the count and is out in round 1. KO at 2:52 of the first round and still Champ – Carmen Basilio!

I was wondering if anyone else was reading this. How is the formatting and the pace to this point? Is there anything else that I could add/change/delete to make it better?

Here we are in Hartford CT for our second appearance at the Hartford Sheraton!

We have a pretty small crowd, but then it is a pretty small room. All the better to bring you high quality entertainment at a low price.

For our crowd of 287 we have Jimmy Flood in the Main Event. He is trying to get back to his winning ways. His opponent tonight is Gilbert Baptist. Baptist has been winning lately and this will be a significant step up for him in terms of quality.

Our co-feature is Pierre Langolis against Keith Tamlin. For Tamlin this is a good payday against a fighter that he isn't expected to do much against. Also on our card is the debut of a fighter by the name of Frank Klaus. Klaus is making his debut against Stuart Robinson in the third fight of the night. Other fights are scheduled and hopefully they will be entertaining.

Here we go!

Kahlid Ramzi 0-4-0(0) v. Jonathan McGrath 1-3-0(0)

98-91, 97-92 and 97-92 all for the winner Jonathan McGrath.

Leandro Rocha 1-3-0(1) v. Luis Manuel Fabri 1-4-0(0)

Fabri was disqualified for a flagrant low blow against Rocha in the 3rd round. The fight up to this point was largely even.

Frank Klaus 0-0-0(0) v. Stuart Robinson 1-3-0(0)

Klaus makes a very nice debut scoring a 3rd round TKO over Stuart Robinson.

Ruggero Iasi 2-3-1(0) v. Kevin Morrison 2-2-1(1)

The last time these two met the result of the fight was a draw. Expect another good fight. 97-93, 95-95 and 98-94 for Kevin Morrison. He improves and now has a winning record. Iasi is in a bit of a slump since his good start.

Pierre Langolis 3-1-0(1) v. Keith Tamlin 2-2-0(0)

The last time these two fought Langolis was the winner by TKO in the 4th. Tamlin takes Langolis the distance, but loses big on the scorecards. Langolis adds an ugly W to his fight record.

Jimmy Flood 3-3-1(2) v. Gilbert Baptist 3-3-0(2)

This is the second time that these two have fought, with Flood winning the first fight by decision. A close see-saw battle for the entire fight. Baptist did a good job at avoiding the power of Flood and landed a few good shots of his own. However, a cut opened up by Flood in the 3rd caused problems for Baptist. Flood took that as an invitation and peppered it over and over. Baptist did get some revenge and cause some swelling around Flood's left eye. In the end, the cut proved too damaging and the ref stopped the fight in the 6th. The fight was all even at the end of the 5th.

How could I not follow a PM boxing dynasty?

I think it is a good pace and formatting. Just getting used to the style (compared to last dynasty).

I still expected a better fight out of William. I say he needs to earn a rematch now.

How are you deciding the matches?

WMC sees first retirement, fledgling boxing council popular in the midwest.
By: Tomas Henderson – Pool

Baraboo, Wisconsin – The World Middleweight Council has an event scheduled here, and the Ho-Chunk Casino and Convention Center later this month, and the hope to build on the success that they have found halfway through this year.

Early this year, a new boxing council was formed for the purpose of creating a fair and corruption free fighting group that would provide quality sporting events. Starting off with a tournament to crown the initial champ. Since then, the organization has moved across the country with many of it's fighters fighting as many as 8 times since the start of the year.

Attendance has been as expected with the Austin being quite popular. Here in Wisconsin the crowd is building. The Ballroom doesn't seat that many, but that was part of the design of the organizers. A crowd of a few hundred should be good enough for this even, with an increase next month in Ohio, and then another title defense for the Champ.

One event is scheduled for for the east. The MWC has an even that happens in Hartford, Connecticut as part of it's regular schedule. Certainly the east coast is an area that the MWC can improve. The west coast is a vast area of untouched potential.

The first fighter in the MWC has decided to call it quits. Kahlid Ramzi, a middle eastern fighter, decided after his loss to Jonathan McGrath that perhaps this was not the career for him. Ramzi lost his first 5 fights, and he didn't look good doing it. Ramzi was floored twice in his career, one of those was a first round KO at the hands of Leandro Rocha. It is unlikely that Ramzi, with his 0-5-0 record will be the first into the hall of fame.

How are you deciding the matches?

I am handpicking all of the fights. Trying to match up guys who would normally, or should normally be fighting. Such as that is, there are going to be a number of contenders with less than stellar record as they are going to be building their careers by fighting contenders rather than padding their records with no names.

One problem is that it takes me a while to set up each month, trying to get the best matchups for the fighters as well as matching fights for venues and uncoming events.

From the Grand Ballroom of the Ho-Chunk Casino and Convention Center, this is MWC Boxing action!

All the talk this week was about the retirement of Kahlid Ramzi. Sure Ramzi didn't make a big splash, and he should have been doing something else, but it speaks to the competitiveness of the organization when a fighter walks away. I know tonight, each of these guys are going to wish that their opponent would just walk away. Of course, none of them will. They are all under conract, at least for tonight.

What a night we have for you as well. We have come over halfway through the year, and the fighters are starting to distance themselves from each other. In the main even this evening you will see a battle between two men who are hoping to put their stamp on the rights to challenge for the title. Undefeated Charley Joseph puts his record on the line against one loss Pierre Langolis. A win for either of these fighters would be a big feather in their hats.

Also fighting tonight, we have Freddie Apostoli fighting Kevin Morrison. Morrison has had a good run of late, but tonight he has a tough challenge in Apostoli. Apostoli is widely considered to be the next challenger for the title, but he will need to be careful tonight.

In what could be the sleeper fight of the night, William Lee fights Jimmy Flood. Both men have struggled lately, and a loss here for either of them would be nearly ruinous. Up and comer Frank Klaus is also on the card along with other fights.

Here we go!

Luis Manuel Fabri 1-5-0(0) v. Stuart Robinson 1-4-0(0)

Stuart Robinson wins by TKO in the 7th round due to cuts. Fabri was ahead on all 3 scorecards.

Albert Ostheim 2-4-0(1) v. Jonathan Assous 2-4-0(0)

Assous drops Ostheim with one punch and knocks him out in the second round.

Frank Klaus 1-0-0(1) v. Keith Tamlin 2-3-0(0)

Klaus looked like he was in control of this fight from the opeining bell. Tamlin didn't show a whole lot and was out hustled early on. A stiff cross from Klaus put Tamlin on the deck early in the 4th and although he got up, he didn't do much else. Klaus' onslaught continued and the ref called the fight shortly after.

William Lee 4-2-0(2) v. Jimmy Flood 4-3-1(3)

This could have been a main event fight. Both men possess good power, but one apparently has a better chin than the other. Flood danced was the busier fighter, landing more shots, but it was the timely power of William Lee that turned the fight. Lee knocked Flood down 3 times in the fight, in the 5th, 9th and 10th rounds. Flood got back up each time, but he had to wonder how he was going to win if he couldn't stay on his feet. 95-93, 96-91 and 96-91 all for William Lee.

Freddie Apostoli 5-1-1(3) v. Kevin Morrison 3-2-1(1)

Not much of a match between these two. Just as was discussed before the fight Apostoli proved to be the better fighter, and he continues to position himself as the premiere MW challenger for the title.

Charley Joseph 4-0-0(1) v. Pierre Langolis 4-1-0(1)

Langolis had a gameplan and stuck to it. He landed his punches in combinations and used the ring to his advantage. Joseph was getting frustrated and tagged often., A good fight, but neither fighter landed any big shots. This is typically what happens when niether fighter posses a really strong punch. Langolis looked much more polished and really executed well. 97-93, 97-93 and 97-93 all for Pierre Langolis. No other way to see this fight I guess. A solid win.

Welcome to the Canton Memorial Civic Center, where tonight we have a solid show for you. Our crowd of 3818 is on hand tonight to see the best that the WMC has to offer.

Fans have come tonight for the main event that features the top two contenders to challenge for the title. Widely favored as the man to beat in the division aside from The Champ, Freddy Apostoli has left a path of destruction in the division. Apostoli has used his power maintain control of his opponents. His opponent is Pierre Langolis. Langolis started off a little slow, but has come on in his most recent fights. His last fight was a convincing win over undefeated Charley Joseph. Langolis doesn't have much power, but his boxing skills are very good, and could frustrate Apostoli.

Carmen Basilio is here fighting a tuneup fight against Leandro Rocha. Basilio should have no problem with Rocha, but he can't be thinking about next month's title defense.

Frank Klaus is making his third fight of his career against Kevin Morrison. Three other fights are on the card for your pleasure. Let's get to ringside.

Keith Tamlin 2-4-0(0) v. Luis Manuel Fabri 1-6-0(0)

98-94 Fabri, 97-94 Tamlin, 97-94 Fabri. Crazy scoring, but I think that Fabri won.

Ruggero Iasi 2-4-1 v. Stuart Robinson 2-4-0(1)

A rematch fight for these two, Iasi won the first one. Iasi had a big first round, landing blow after blow. In the second round, Iasi did more of the same causing the ref to award the TKO to Iasi in the second.. However, it seemed that the ref stopped the fight a little early, as Robinson protested the stopping as soon as it happened. That was an poor call from my end.

Gilbert Baptist 3-4-0(2) v. Jonathan McGrath 2-3-0(0)

All three judges see this fight 99-91, all for Gilber Baptist. Baptist controlled the fight with killer boxing skills.

Frank Klaus 2-0-0(2) v. Kevin Morrison 3-3-1(1)

Wow, Morrison is a pretty good fighter, but this was murder. Frank Klaus showed incredible boxing skills and pummeled Morrison round after round. Klaus scored a knockdown in the 4th but Morrison hung in there, and finished the round. By the later rounds Klaus was cruising and Morrison wanted out of the fight. Round 8 was the end of this, with no real challenge for Klaus. He won by TKO in the 8th.

Carmen Basilio 6-0-0(5) v. Leandro Rocha 2-3-0(1)

Rocha proved to be more than a headache for Basilio. Despite Basilio leading most of the fight, he couldn't get him out of there. Rocha was on the bad side of punches that left him with a very swollen left eye and a nasty cut over his right. His vision was bothering him and Basilio continued to rain blows down. The Champ scored a knockdown early but Rocha got back up. It wasn't until he went down again in the 8th that it was over.

Freddie Apostoli 6-1-1(4) v. Pierre Langolis 5-1-0(1)

A rough back and forth fight for both of these men. Early on Langolis was landing better and more often. Each round though, Apostoli landed one or two big shots that would stun the skillfull Langolis. At the halfway point it looked like Langolis had a lead, but he was taking many big shots, even though he was winning the rounds. The 6th marked a turning point as Langolis started to swell from all of those big punches. With Langolis tired, Apostoli took charge and worked hard in the late rounds. You had to wonder if Langolis had done enough to steal the win, even though he looked horrible by the end of the fight. Judges cards were 96-95, 97-94 and 97-94 all for Freddie Apostoli. He will fight Carmen Basilio for the title next month in Austin.

Championship Night in Austin Texas! We are almost sold out here at the Convention Center in Downtown Austin. There are 4645 fans on hand for the title fight between Carmen Basilio and Freddie Apostoli.

There is a history between these two men. In their first fight, it appeared that Apostoli was ahead and on his way to winning the fight, but a cut was declared too serious to continue and Basilio got the win and went on to win the title. Then, earlier this year, when it looked like Apostoli was going to get the chance to challenge for the title, but a draw against Jimmy Flood killed his chance to challenge for the title. Instead he had to watch William Lee get kayoed in the first round, wishing he had the opportunity to be in there. Well, here it is. Apostoli will be ready to go for this one. Basilio has hardly been challenged since that close win over Apostoli. Both men can use their power, and both can box. This should be a very good fight.

In the co feature, Pierre Langolis returns to the ring to fight former title challenger William Lee. It will be the classic slugger versus boxer fight. Lee has had some problems with boxers, but hopefully he trained well enough. A win here would keep both men in the discussion of title contender.

The support bout for tonight is an exciting fight between the two newest fighters in the WMC. Charley Joseph will try and get back on track with a win, while Frank Klaus is looking to keep his record perfect. Klaus has scored 3 KO's in his 3 fights, while Joseph is a quick and accurate boxer, and is fighting for the first time since losing to Pierre Langolis.

Jimmy Flood returns to action, in his quest to get back to the top of the division. He is fighting Gilbert Baptist, a boxer who runs hot and cold, but has been hot lately.

Two other fights are scheduled for this, the best card that we have had since our existence. Enjoy the show.

Albert Ostheim 2-5-0(1) v. Kevin Morrison 3-4-1(1)

96-96, 96-96, 96-96, sigh.

Jonathan Assous 3-4-0(1) v. Ruggero Iasi 3-4-1(1)

97-95, 96-96 and 97-95 for Jonathan Assous.

Gilbert Baptist 4-4-0(2) v. Jimmy Flood 4-4-1(3)

This is the third time that these two have fought, with Flood winning the first two easily. The question here was whether Flood's power would turn the tide of the fight. Early on, Flood showed poise and started where he left off winning early and doing well. Baptist hung on, avoided the big punches, and slowly worked his way back in. From round six and on to the end it was the Gilbert Baptist show. He boxed and moved and sent this close fight to the judges. 97-93, 96-96 and 96-94 for Gilbert Baptist. Flood's chances at being a legit title contender have just slipped away. Baptist keeps his hot streak going.

Charley Joseph 4-1-0(1) v. Frank Klaus 3-0-0(3)

Joseph, a good boxer, who lost a close fight to Pierre Langolis is taking a big chance against Frank Klaus. Klaus really hasn't fought anyone yet, and has just killed those he has fought. Well, Joseph was in for a big surprise. Klaus was way more than he could handle. Every time that Joseph would land one, Klaus would land two more and then some. He had an answer for everything that Joseph threw. Joseph was knocked down in the second but got back up and took the eight. Klaus was on autopilot as this ended, and a shell-shocked Charley Joseph was left to wonder where to go now. 96-93, 98-91, and 99-90 all for Frank Klaus.

William Lee 5-2-0(2) v. Pierre Langolis 5-2-0(1)

This fight is a rematch of an earlier fight where Lee won by unanimous decision. What a close fight it was! William Lee, again the more powerful of the two, landed fewer, harder shots to the boxer, Pierre Langolis, who landed many jabs and crosses. Langolis never hurt Lee, but the reverse could not be said. Had it not been for the power of Lee this would have been all Langolis, however Lee kept himself in it. In the 10 and deciding round, Langolis was caught coming in by a short hook. He was tired and went down almost immediately. He struggled to regain his feet and just did so, getting up right before the 10 count. The ref let it end and it went to the cards. All three judges scored the fight 98-93 for the winner by unanimous decision, William Lee.

Carmen Basilio WMC Champ 7-0-0(6) v. Freddie Apostoli 7-1-1(4)

Round 1: No feeling out round here, both men came out swinging. Apostoli was busier, Basilio landed the better punch.
Round 2: Another round of intense action. Basilio is warned by the ref, and this time Apostoli lands the big punch. Both men landed big numbers.
Round 3: More rapid fire shots from both men. Again Apostoli lands a shot that stuns the champ and follows it up well. For a moment it looked like he may get the tko, but the champ hung in there.
Round 4: Apostoli takes his first round off, and Basilio took advantage, landing three big punches that had the other fighter falling backward and reeling across the ring.
Round 5: Back to the headhunting in the center of the ring. The round was very even.
Round 6: It looked like Basilio was going to be hurt and Apostoli went in for the kill, only to walk into a hornets nest of punches. Basilio is proving to be very resilient as Apostoli's power is wearing him out.
Round 7: Quiet round, neither fighter did much.
Round 8: Basilio was hurt early and spent the round covering up. Apostoli didn't have an answer for it, and won the round, but never had the chance to take him out.
Round 9: There appears to be some swelling around the right eye of Apostoli. It fires him up and he lands two more big blows that send the champ to the ropes. Three rounds to go!
Round 10: Both men were on the outside, but still worked hard. The Champ looks tired, and he took another big shot to start the round. However, he came back and ended up outworking the challgenger on the outside.
Round 11: Basilio was busier and more accurate, but the power of Apostoli is really frustrating him. He was rocked again in this round.
Round 12: More of the same from Apostoli as he started the round slicing open a cut on the forehead of Basilio. A few seconds later a jolting punch send the champ into the ropes. Apostoli followed and snapped a hook that put the champ on his back. He got up quickly, but Apostoli was all over him after the 8 count. Basilio tried to survive to onslaught, but he got nailed by an uppercut that put him down again. He rose to his feet and took the 8 count. Apostoli moved in quickly but Basilio lurched and swayed from exhaustion. The ref caught Apostoli before he could land a shot and waved off the fight. Freddie Apostoli is your new WMC Middleweight Champion! The scorecards were very even. Before the 12th round the fight was a draw with each judge scoring for one fighter and the third even. Even if Basilio would have survived the 12th the knockdowns made sure he would have lost the fight.

Hartford Sheraton Grand Hall

The WMC has gained a lot of hype and exposure after the thrilling series of fights that took place 3 weeks ago in Austin. It has translated over to attendance for this months showdown here in Hartford. Our attendance for this week is 488, almost a sellout, and a great turnout for this event.

You have already heard that two new fighters will be starting their careers here in the WMC tonight. We are looking forward to see if either of them will turnout to be one of the great ones. The big fight though, the one that most have come to see is that between a pair of boxers. Gilbert Baptist grabbed a big win against Jimmy Flood and is looking to capitalize against Charley Joseph. Joseph was beaten handily by newcomer Frank Klaus, and needs a win here to remain relevant in the division.

The co-feature has Pierre Langolis, also coming off of back to back losses matching up against Jonathan McGrath. McGrath could pester Langolis, and will have his work cut out for him. The third interesting match up is that of Kevin Morrison and Ruggero Iasi. This is the third time that they have met, with both fights being very close. Morrison won one and the other was a draw.

Two additional fights are scheduled, now let's head down to ringside to begin the show!

Red Cooke 0-0-0(0) v. Willie Warren 0-0-0(0)

A nice debut for Warren as he out boxed Cooke. 99-92, 99-91 and 97-94 all for Warren.

Luis Manuel Fabri 2-6-0(0) v. Stuart Robinson 2-5-0(1)

98-91, 98-91 and 97-92 all for Stuart Robinson.

Leandro Rocha 2-4-0(1) v. Keith Tamlin 2-5-0(0)

96-95, 98-93 and 96-95 all for Keith Tamlin.

Ruggero Iasi 3-5-1(1) v. Kevin Morrison 3-4-2(1)

Another tight fight between these two and a tough one to score. It was a very sloppy fight for one, neither fighter seemed to really be able to get the other fighter in trouble. Iasi landed more consistently and seemed to be in better shape, but Morrison would come back with a big round. It was scored 96-95 Iasi, 96-95 Morrison, and 97-94 for Ruggero Iasi. He needed that win.

Pierre Langolis 5-3-0(1) v. Jonathan McGrath 2-4-0(0)

A mismatch from the opening bell. McGrath could do nothing. Nothing at all against Langolis. In fact, even the punches that he threw didn't land. McGrath was on the receiving end of a blistering in the first round. McGrath was an easy target, and Langolis danced around in circles repeatedly nailing the head of McGrath round after round. It is true that Langolis has very little power, and in this case that was probably a bad thing. McGrath would have liked his misery a little sooner, his left eye was almost completely closed when the ref stopped the fight in the 7th round.

Gilbert Baptist 5-4-0(2) v. Charley Joseph 4-2-0(1)

The Main Event tonight wasn't going to feature much power, so the fans knew they were in for the long haul. Baptist came out on fire and took control of the early rounds, only to give it all back in the middle. The later rounds were better for Joseph as Baptist had to battle some swelling that was under his left eye. The fight was pretty close at the end but Joseph poured it on in the last round while it appeared that Baptist has spend all of his energy and had just run out of gas. The fight was scored 96-94 Joseph, and 95-95, 95-95 for a majority draw. The result of this is much better for Baptist as he is still on his way up, while this has to be seen as another setback for Charley Joseph. No one likes to see a draw in the Main Event, so these two may need to go at it again next month at Baraboo.

Merry Christmas! Thanks for joining us for our holiday edition of WMC Boxing. This month marks the end of the first year of existence for the World Middleweight Council. Things have been a success and we have laid the track for more things to come.

Some of the top talent from the WMC is here in action tonight. Our feature fight has former champ Carmen Basilio taking on a slumping Charley Joseph. This is a tough fight for Joseph, but if he can pull off a win, it will move him back into the upper contenders for the title.

The co feature is a solid matchup. The boxing skills of Pierre Langolis take on hotshot Frank Klaus. This is a big step up in competition for Klaus, so don't expect a TKO for him here. This is a showdown. A win for either man goes a long way to furthering their careers.

Also fighting are William Lee, Jimmy Flood, Jonathan Assous, and Willie Williams. Enjoy the show!

Red Cooke 0-1-0(0) v. Luis Manuel Fabri 2-7-0(0)

96-94 Fabri, 98-96 Cooke, and 99-91 for winner by split decision – Luis Manuel Fabri!

Willie Warren 1-0-0(0) v. Albert Ostheim 2-5-1(1)

Willie Warren was disqualified in a very dirty fight. Both men were warned a total of 9 times before Warren was disqualified for a blatant headbutt. Warren was comfortably ahead on all three cards.

Jimmy Flood 4-5-1(3) v. Jonathan Assous 4-4-0(1)

Flood again showed his power against Assous in a rematch from earlier this year. Assous was put down one time, but quickly got back up. The real damage was a cut over the right eye early in the second round. Flood zeroed in on it and kept making it worse. Assous held on to the 7th round, but eventually it was too bad to continue and Flood wins by TKO.

William Lee 6-2-0(2) v. Jonathan McGrath 2-5-0(0)

William Lee is a killler. Plain and simple. He has the most damaging punches of anyone in the WMC. Blows were delivered almost nonstop for the first two rounds in this fight. McGrath went down in the second round, but was able to get back up, but the heavy blows wore him down and the ref was forced to stop the fight.

Frank Klaus 4-0-0(3) v. Pierre Langolis 6-3-0(2)

True to form they don't get more tactical then this. Langolis tried to push Klaus around the ring with his jab and he was very effective. He landed many more punches than the more inexperienced fighter, however Klaus was able to land the better power punches. Klaus was told the fight was close and poured it on in the last round, as it appeared that Langolis really had nothing left, he seemed to feel that he was going to be ok. The Judges scored the fight 96-95 all for the winner – Pierre Langolis! An expected win over the less experienced fighter, and a tough loss for Klaus, but a good showing nonetheless.

Carmen Basilio 7-1-0(6) v. Charley Joseph 4-2-1(1)

Basilio got this one started early putting Joseph on the canvas early in the first round. There was a hope that Joseph was out, but he showed heart and got back up and kept fighting. Basilio didn't show much more power in the fight, but what he did show was a speed unlike anything that Joseph has seen to this point. Basilio beat him to the punch and was able to land many more punches and stay busier than Joseph was. Midway through the fight you could tell that Joseph was sucking wind, while Basilio seemed to get stronger. 99-91, 99-91 and 100-90 all for Carmen Basilio. Quite a strong show from one fo the top fighters over one of the better fighters. Joseph has to be happy that this is over, and at the same time really upset about the way that it played out.

Two months from Freddie Apostoli's title defense in Austin and that means that we are in Canton, Ohio for some top shelf boxing action. Apostoli's opponent for February hasn't been decided yet. Hopefully this month's fights will provide us with some answers.

Even though Apostoli doesn't have an opponent for next month yet, he is going to be fighting here tonight. In what has become a short tradition here at the Civic Center, the Co feature will feature the current Champ in a non-title fight. Tonight, Apostoli is fighting Stuart Robinson. Robinson has a losing record but hopefully, he can give the Champ a couple of good rounds before next month's important fight.

The main event is the third match-up between Carmen Basilio and William Lee. The two men have fought twice before, with Basilio winning both fights. The last fight was a disaster as Lee was knocked out in the first round. He has been training and says that things are going to be much different this time around. Basilio has been quiet, he is quietly waiting for his opportunity to regain the Middleweight crown.

In support of those fights Gilbert Baptist will be taking on Charley Joseph. Joseph was handily beaten last month by Basilio and would like nothing better than to regain his winning form with a win here. Baptist has been rising all year long, and a win here would jump him into the top 5 fighters in the council.

In other news, another fighter has retired from the WMC. Fresh off of his victory against Red Cooke, Luis Manuel Fabri announced that he was leaving the WMC to pursue an acting career in Brazil. Fabri finished his career with a 3-7-0(0) record. Good luck to Fabri in his acting career.

We also have three other fights to round out the card. Here we go!

Jonathan McGrath 2-6-0(0) v. Leandro Rocha 2-5-0(1)

Leandro Rocha wins by TKO in the 6th round. McGrath was cut early and it got much worse as the fight grew on. McGrath was ahead on all three cards by the slimmest of margins.

Willie Warren 1-1-0(0) v. Keith Tamlin 3-5-0(0)

99-92, 98-93 and 99-92 all for Willie Warren

Ruggero Iasi 4-5-1(1) v. Jonathan Assous 4-5-0(1)

The early rounds were no full of a whole lot of action. The judges were split with how to score the fight. Fortunately for them, the decision on the outcome of the fight was taken away from them in the sixth round when Ruggero Iasi found a left hook that put Assous down to the canvas. Assous would not get back up. The judges had scored the fight even up to that point in the fight.

Gilbert Baptist 5-4-1(2) v. Charley Joseph 4-3-1(1)

This fight is a rematch for these two. In the last meeting the judges had declared a draw. That certainly didn't help Joseph's stake, and neither did the loss last month. Here today, he looked like a completely different fighter. Joseph was hardly hit. Defensively, Joseph was perfect. Baptist couldn't land a punch, and he was getting his all over. The crowd booed at times, especially late in the fight as they wanted Joseph to take Baptist out, but he was content to sit on the outside and move. Not a great show. 97-95, 100-92 and 100-91 all for Charley Joseph.

Freddie Apostoli 8-1-1(5) v. Stuart Robinson 3-5-0(1)

Well, the hope was that Robinson would hang in there and give Apostoli a few rounds, and provide some entertainment for the crowd. Freddie did supply the show. He licked Robinson in the first round. A number of jabs and crosses, and then a right/left/right combo and Robinson went down. Robinson has never shown a lot of heart and that ended the fight right there.

Carmen Basilio 8-1-0(5) v. William Lee 7-2-0(3)

This fight was truly deserving of the main event. Basilio started quick in the first round, and had Lee in trouble at the end of the round. In the second it was Lee's turn to do well, as he blistered Basilio with a number of shots. That is how the fight would go. The difference between the two was that Basilio was in better shape and was able to better handle the numerous heavy blows that Lee would dish out. Conversely, Lee's defense was poor. Basilio was able to land more often and with ease, especially as the fight wore on. A couple of times Lee really had Basilio hurt, but he couldn't knock him down. By the 6th it looked like Lee was spent. He spent the rest of the fight loading up his punches but never had enough. Lee was put down in the 9th, but he did mange to get back up and stay in the fight. For the first time these two went to the judges. It was scored 98-92, 99-93, 98-92 all for Carmen Basilio. He will fight Apostoli for the title next month in Austin.

Here is a quick recap of the fighters that are currently in the WMC, and a little backround on how they have done so far.

So far, after a year, we have two fighters that have decided to call it quits. They are:

Kahlid Ramzi 0-5-0(0) – Ramzi never came close to even sniffing a win in the WMC. He was knocked out in one fight and lost by unanimous decision's in the other four. This was a good career move.

Luis Manuel Fabri 3-7-0(0) – Fabri started and ended his career with wins, which is interesting since he didn't do much in between. His most memorable fight was taking William Lee into the 7th round in a fight that he should have been out much earlier.

Here are the rest of the active fighters. They are sorted by record in reverse order.

Red Cooke 0-2-0(0) – Cooke has not looked good in two fights. His last fight was a loss to Fabri, who has since retired. The future isn't so bright for this man.

Jonathan McGrath 2-7-0(0) – McGrath has a bad record but he has lost to some tough fighters. Four of his losses were to fighters in the top of the council, and he has lost his last 3 fights by TKO and his last 4 in a row.

Kevin Morrison 3-5-2(1) – The Scottish born Morrison has lost his last 3 fights, but he has faced some tough fightes as well. Best known for his three fights with Ruggero Iasi (1-1-1).

Albert Ostheim 3-5-1(1) – Has fought in Austin more than anywhere else. Undefeated in his last two fights, with a DQ win over Willie Warren and a draw with Kevin Morrison.

Stuart Robinson 3-6-0(1) – It can't bode well for Robinson that all three of his wins are against now retired fighters (Ramzi 1, Fabri 2.) He was knocked out in his last fight with Freddie Apostoli, also suffered two losses to Ruggero Iasi.

Keith Tamlin 3-6-0(0) – Tamlin, like so many others hasn't been able to separate himself from the rest of the pack. All of his fights have been against different fighters.

Leandro Rocha 3-5-0(2) – Rocha has lost some big and won some big. His best fight was a rescent 6th round TKO over McGrath, he also knocked out Kahlid Ramzi in the first. He took Carmen Basilio to the 8th before being knocked out.

Jonathan Assous 4-6-0(1) – The biggest thing that you could say about Assous is that so far, he has been shown to have a very weak chin. He has been knocked out three times. His best fight so far was a 10 round decision win over Ruggero Iasi.

Gilbert Baptist 5-5-1(2) – Baptist has shown two personalities depending on what he feels like so far. He has been a good boxer and a bad one. Case in point his last two fights against Charley Joseph. A majority draw, and a unanimous loss. A tough fighter to knock out, who has battled three times against Jimmy Flood(1-2.)

Jimmy Flood 5-5-1(4) – Flood started off the year with fire in his eyes as he battled Freddie Apostoli for the right to challenge for the title. Since the rematch with Apostoli, he has taken quite a fall by losing to youngster Joseph, William Lee, and Baptist. Flood has good power, and that can keep him in the fight anytime.

Ruggero Iasi 5-5-1(2) – Iasi has a good record, but whenever he has faced off against tougher competition he has been stopped often and early. A boxer, Iasi can win fights where he can dictate the pace. Has fought three battles against Kevin Morrison. Scored his first knockdown in his last fight against Assous.

Charley Joseph 5-3-1(1) – Joseph came into the WMC by winning his first 4 fights with good boxing skills and finesse. He ran into a wall when he tried to step up his competion against Pierre Langolis, then against fellow youngster Fran Klaus, he was beaten well. He is 1-3-1 in his last 5 fights.

Willie Warren 2-1-0(0) – Warren only recently joined the WMC. His record could be perfect if he wouldn't have been DQ ed against Ostheim in a fight that he was winning.

Pierre Langolis 7-3-0(2) – Langolis has been a bit up and down. Not much of a hitter, he is known more for his boxing ability. Currently considered to be one of the best in the Council, he has really struggled against William Lee , who had beaten him twice. That alone could keep him from a title shot.

William Lee 7-3-0(3) – Lee has already fought for the title twice, losing both times to Carmen Basilio. He lost a third time to Basilio in the title challenge fight. Lee packs a whallop, but has the skill to outdo boxers who can't hit. Hitters he has a harder time with.

Frank Klaus 4-1-0(3) – Klaus jumped onto the scene when he jumped levels in competition and rocked Charley Joseph for a win, after dominating three weaker opponents. Lost his last fight to Pierre Langolis. He is certainly a fighter with some possibilities.

Freddie Aposotoli 9-1-1(6) – The current Champ. Apostoli has reigned of late. He struggled after a tough loss to Carmen Basilio, then climbed his way back to the top, and finally made the best use of his title shot, by beating Basilio in his next chance. Set to defend aganist Basilio next month in Austin.

Carmen Basilio 9-1-0(6) – Basilio just destroyed everybody in his way, on his way to winning the title. Then defending it twice against Lee. A big hitter, Basilio was worn out by Apostoli in their last fight. He says that he is ready to go in their next battle.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

We are here in Austin again, just over one year after Carmen Basilio beat William Lee to be the first title holder in the WMC. Both men are back, but fighting apart tonight. Basilio is here to try and beat Freddie Apostoli. Apostoli is on quite a roll, but expect that tonight's fight is going to be a doozy. Oddsmakers have to be leaning toward Apostoli in this one as he is the only man who has made Basilio look bad.

The co feature is a battle for the third time between Pierre Langolis and William Lee. Lee is trying to stop Langolis for the third time, but if he loses, Langolis will be next in line for the title shot.

The good fights just keep on coming, as Ruggero Iasi will fight Frank Klaus in the support bout. Charley Joseph, Gilbert Baptist and Jimmy Flood are also going to be here tonight, in the biggest showcase in MWC history, here in Austin, in front of 4900 screaming fans. We are ready to go!

Willie Warren 2-1-0(0) v. Albert Ostheim 3-5-1(1)

Warren is trying to avenge that DQ he had a couple of months ago. This still turned into a dirty fight, and Warren was lucky that he didn't get disqualified again. 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91, all for Willie Warren with ease.

Gilbert Baptist 5-5-1(2) v. Jonathan Assous 4-6-0(1)

Assous wasn't much of a fight for Baptist tonight. Assous was beaten to the punch constantly and really appeared to add nothing to the fight at all. 100-90, 99-91 and 100-90 all for Gilbert Baptist.

Charley Joseph 5-3-1(1) v. Jimmy Flood 5-5-1(4)

Perhaps this should have been a 7 round fight, because after round 7, nothing happened. Nonthing. Niether fighter really did anything at all. Which is good for Joseph, because he spent the early round building up a pretty good lead. Flood looked confused about how to get through Joseph's guard. Joseph moved in circles around Flood, and kept him away with his jab. He really needed this win. 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92 all for Charley Joseph.

Frank Klaus 4-1-0(3) v. Ruggero Iasi 5-5-1(2)

Frank Klaus looked impressive in this fight against mid card fighter Ruggero Iasi. Iasi looked slow and sluggish against the younger, better fighter. Klaus had landed almost 6 punches for every punch that Iasi landed. Iasi was knocked down in the 8th but got back to his feet to finish the round. With Iasi gasping for air, another solid hook put him down in the 9th, this time for good.

William Lee 7-3-0(3) v. Pierre Langolis 7-3-0(2)

I guess that the third time is the charm for Langolis. He put on a real boxing display from the opening bell on. He was able to avoid being really hurt by Lee, except for a couple of rounds. Other than that it was all Langolis. Lee's right eye was swelling by the third round, and things just kept getting worse from there. Langolis seemed to have the fight in hand as it went to the later rounds, but managed to do enough to keep the fight interesting. 97-93, 97-93 and 98-92 all for Pierre Langolis!

Freddie Apostoli WMC Champ 9-1-1(6) v. Carmen Basilio 9-1-0(5)
This is a 12 round, title fight!

Round 1: Apostoli comes out fast and steals the round.
Round 2: Apostoli keeps the pressure on, his boxing skills are giving Basilio fits.
Round 3: Basilio gets one back, he tags Apostoli, and scores heavily the rest of the round.
Round 4: Basilio clearly wins this round with more hard work and better punch quality.
Round 5: A rest for both men, neither does any real damage, the crowd grows restless.
Round 6: Basilio looks really good tonight, and his punches have lots of snap on them. A cut is opened over the left eyelid of Apostoli. He already knows too much about that history between these two. It is early in the fight too. The champ is in a bad spot.
Round 7: Neither man really did anything, the Champ's corner is getting restless.
Round 8: Oh! And the Champ is down early in the 8th. He is up at the 6 count and takes the 8. He finishes with a flurry, but he has a mountain to climb now.
Round 9: Basilio can sense it now. The cut on Apostoli is now open again, blood is flowing. Basilio lands another hard shot that stuns the Champ, but he has little reply. There are 3 rounds remaining.
Round 10: Apostoli wakes up for this one, and looks a bit desperate. He smacks Basilio around a few times but he is still pretty far behind on my card.
Round 11: Both men appear like they are tiring, but this round is one of the most exciting of the fight. Apostoli is hurt early, but he is able to come back toward the end of the round. Basilio is able to answer his blows. One to go, and I think that the Champ needs a KO.
Round 12: The last round was what you would expect. Both men doing what they could to try for the win. It was pretty close, and Apostoli didn't get a KO.

115-112
116-111
116-111

All for the winner and two-time WMC Champion......Carmen Basilio!

Apostoli has to look at himself in the mirror tomarrow after this one, and wonder where he went wrong.

Live! From the Grand Hall of the Sheraton, in Hartford CT. This is the return to the Northeast for WMC Boxing. This week in the Grand Hall we have a main even featuring one of the top rising star's of the WMC, Frank Klaus. Klaus will be taking on Gilbert Baptist. In the other feature bout of the evening. Willie Warren will face Jonathan Assous. Warren has been slowly climbing the ranks as well and is going to face another good fighter in Assous. Tonight also feartures the debuts of two of the newest fighters in the WMC. We have Ben Jeby and Odlanier Sarduy fighting separate bouts on the undercard. With that, let's get right to the action.

Red Cooke 0-2-0(0) v. Jonathan McGrath 2-7-0(0)

This fight had some good action for an opening fight. Too bad that all of the action was in the first 6 rounds and neither fighter did much afterward. McGrath did a better job with his jab and defense. Neither fighter was hurt at all. Scoring was 96-94, 95-95, 96-94 for Jonathan McGrath by Majority Decision.

Kevin Morrison 3-5-2(1) v. Ben Jeby 0-0-0(0)

If there was a textbook way to debut this would be it. Jeby totally destroyed Morrison in this fight. From the opening bell his skill was superior in every way. Morrison was never hurt, but the volume of the punishment that he received was amazing. In round 7 his eye started to swell and he defense was non existant. The ref halted the fight toward the end of the round.

Stuart Robinson 3-6-0(1) v. Odlanier Sarduy 0-0-0(0)

What was the ref thinking? Sarduy had a good opening round, and Robinson was penalized for a low blow, but round two was much closer. Something else happened but I have no idea what it was. Just 30 seconds into the 3rd round it was stopped and Sarduy was given a TKO victory.

Leandro Rocha 3-5-0(2) v. Keith Tamlin 3-6-0(0)

This fight really should have been saved as an opener. Neither fighter is going to set the world on fire, and the crowd was not really into the fight. Tamlin wore Rocha out early but couldn't do more than that. Even though Rocha was the busier fighter Tamlin landed more blows and it showed on the scorecards. 99-94, 96-96 and 98-94 for Tamlin by majority decision.

Willie Warren 3-1-0(0) v. Jonathan Assous 4-7-0(1)

This was actually a pretty good fight. Assous was the underdog here to the up and coming Warren, and he held his own pretty well. Warren didn't land any hard punches but he was much more consistent over the course of the fight. Still, it turned into a dirty fight, with the ref constantly getting involved and warning the fighters. Warren did enough to get the win but not to truly impress. 96-94, 97-93, and 96-94.

Frank Klaus 5-1-0(4) v. Gilbert Baptist 6-5-1(2)

Klaus started the fight just like he said that he was going to, with a knockdown of Baptist. Baptist has proven to be one of the more difficult guys to knockdown. Klaus had better hand speed, power and stamina. In fact his superiority was evident halfway through the fight when Baptist appeared to be completely out of gas. Klaus kept the pressure on and scored another knockdown in the 8th. In the 10th he was on the move again and laid into Baptist. Baptist withstood the onslaught and finished the fight. Scoring was 100-90, 98-91 and 95-93. No idea which fight the last judge saw, but considering the other scores it is kind of scary. To Baptist's credit, he is only the second fighter to lose to Klaus and not get knocked out.

I was looking back at some of my dynasties and realized that this was a good premise that I didn't give a long enough run too. Welcome back.

WMC Boxing has returned to the Ho-Chunk Casino here in Wisconson. A lively crowd of 800 is on hand for the fights tonight. What a show we have for you this month. Our show tonight features four of the top contenders fighting in an elimination style contest with the winners squaring off next month for the chance to challenge the Champ, Carmen Basilio in Austin in two months time. The dual main even features Freddy Apostoli fighting Charley Joseph and Pierre Langolis against Frank Klaus. This is a high risk move for these fighters, but if any of them win they could have a shot at the title. Other fighters on hand this evening are William Lee, Jimmy Flood, up and comer Willie Warren, as well as the two newest fighters Sarduy and Jeby. The action is about to get underway. Let's go down to ringside!

Odlanier Sarduy 1-0-0(1) v. Albert Ostheim 3-6-1(1)

Fans were not at all happy with this fight, I guess that why openers never go 10 rounds. Sarduy was the better worker through the fight and landed more blows. It was scored 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93, all for Sarduy.

Ben Jeby 1-0-0(1) v. Keith Tamlin 4-6-0(0)

Early in the fight both fighters were strong but Jeby seemed to have the advantage. Tamlin had a couple of good rounds but he was spent and was clearly not up to the challenge of Jeby. Tamlin was sent to the canvas in the 8th but got back up at 6 and took punishment in the last two rounds, but he held on and avoided the KO. 98-92, 99-90, 99-91 in a pretty easy win for Jeby.

William Lee 7-4-0(3) v. Leandro Rocha 3-6-0(2)

William Lee hasn't had great luck lately but here tonight he was the crowd favorite. Rocha never stood a chance. He took so many huge bombs that his corner should have thrown in the towel. Lee decimated him and Rocha's eye was closing halfway through the fight. Round 5 was it, as Rocha finally went down at the end of the round, he got up and sent right back and couldn't beat the count.

Willie Warren 4-1-0(0) v. Jimmy Flood 5-6-1(4)

This was a step up for Warren and for Flood this was a chance for Flood to try and regain some relevance in the WMC. Warren was really struggling in this fight and Flood hit him with some power that Warren hadn't been hit with before. Flood put Warren down in the 9th but he got back up. In the end Warren was dejected and Flood quite happy. 100-89, 100-90, and 96-94.

Pierre Langolis 8-3-0(1) v. Frank Klaus 6-1-0(4)

This fight lived up to the hype. The two of them had previously fought with Langolis winning in the decision. Both men collided in the first round and the result was a nasty cut over the left eye of Langolis. The cornermen did all that they could but Klaus' accurate punches found their mark over and over. To his credit Langolis bloodied Klaus as well, but the ringside doc stopped the fight in the 6th because of the severity of Langolis' cuts. The scoring was 49-46, all for Frank Klaus. A determined and decisive victory. He will fight the winner of the next fight.

Freddy Apostoli 9-2-1(6) v. Charley Joseph 6-3-1(1)

Apostoli was once the champ and tonight he looked like he is well on his way to trying again. His fight with Joseph was very brutal and lopsided. In fact from the opening bell Joseph really never had a chance. Early in the first Joseph caught a stiff cross from Apostoli and he went down. He got up at the 5 count but continued on. Joseph was put down again in the 4th and in the 5th he had a nasty cut in his mouth. With his face bloodied and his legs weak he continued to fight on. Although he was way behind and took heavy blow after blow, he hung in there to finish the fight.96-92, 97-91, 97-91 all for Apostoli.

We had two retirements recently. First was Jonathan Assous who finished with a record of 4-8(1). The second was Jonathan McGrath who finished with a record of 3-7-0. There is a strong likelihood that more may follow this month. Next month in Canton is going to be a solid card. The main event will be the fight between Klaus and Apostoli. The champ will also be in action on the undercard in a tuneup fight. The two newbs are doing well, they will face each other next month too. See you there.

Boxing in Ohio is back! As promised tonight will feature a battle for the #1 challenger spot and a title shot at the Champ next month in Austin. The Champ is already here and will square off against Rugero Iasi in the co feature. We advertised last month that our undefeated newcomers would be fighting each other this month, but things changed and each of them will fight in their own bouts. The other main fight on the card features William Lee in a fight against Gilbert Baptist. Both men have been see-sawing lately and this is an opportunity for one of them to take a step forward. A big crowd of 2800 is on hand tonight. Here we go!

Red Cooke 0-3-0(0) v. Kevin Morrison 3-6-2(1)

Well I don't think that anyone saw the ending to this fight coming this way. Neither fighter looked good entering the ring and both started slow. Around the 2 minute mark of the round Morrison didn't see it either. What it was, was a obscene low blow that sent him to his knees. The ref found it to me so heinous that he disqualified Cooke on the spot.

Odlanier Sarduy 2-0-0(1) v. Keith Tamlin 4-7-0(0)

The first four rounds made this fight look like it was going to be the fight of the night. Lots of offense, lots of toe to toe. Starting after that neither fighter seemed to take charge. As a matter of fact, Tamlin did a very nice job of boxing and avoided a number of wild charges from Sarduy. Sarduy spent the rest of the night chaseing him around. The judges saw it like this 97-93, 95-95 and 96-94 for Keith Tamlin by majority decision. Tamlin has scored an upset over the young fighter.

Ben Jeby 2-0-0(1) v. Stuart Robinson 3-7-0(1)

Jeby looked nearly unstoppable in the ring against Robinson. The first round Robinson ate a lot of leather and went to the corner with a bloody nose and an eye that was swelling. Jeby continued his onslaught and proceeded to reopen the cut over and over. Eventually, the bleeding became too much to control and the fight was stopped to protect Robinson from any further injury. Jeby is awarded a TKO victory.

William Lee 8-4-0(4) v. Gilbert Baptist 6-6-1(2)

A very entertaining fight from a good mix of styles. Lee the slugger and Baptist the boxer. Lee started out fast and quickly built a small lead. He was cut over his right eye though and that would play a key factor in the fight. Lee was not in his best shape for the fight and it showed, although he repeatedly landed heavy blows to Baptist. In the 6th round it was a tiring Lee who was sent to the canvas and who fought to beat the 10 count. Lee was not out and despite being tired still managed to land some good shots. In the end it looked like the workmanlike performance of Baptist not to mention the knockdown but the judges saw it otherwise. 93-97, 95-94 and 96-95 for William Lee. Baptist was in shock and very pissed about the outcome.

Carmen Basilio the WMC Champion 10-1-0(5) v. Rugero Iasi 5-6-1(2)

This was a good warmup fight for the champ and it once again reminded everyone why he is indeed the champion. Basilio controlled the fight from the opening bell and riddled Iasi with punches. Iasi was not fighting back by round 3 and by round 5 the see exhaustion from the blows put him to the ground. He beat the 10 count (barely) only to be beaten down again and sent sprawling. He tied to regain his feet but just couldn't do it.

Freddy Apostoli 10-2-1(6) v. Frank Klaus 7-1-0(4)

The crowed was pleased with the almost nonstop action of this fight. There was an absence of power punches but the fighters made up for it with speed and skill. Klaus possesed the speed and seemed to be beating Apostoli to the punch in the early rounds. In the middle Freddy came back and seemed to take over the fight. Clearly the fight was back and forth with many disagreements about who won which round and so on. Klaus seemed to land the better number of shots while Apostoli landed more hard shots. Apostoli was favored pretty good, considering that his only losses were to the champ Basilio. Klaus' only loss was to Pierre Langolis in a fight where he was out pointed. The judges saw it like this: 96-95, 95-96 and 97-94 for the winner by split decision and #1 contender to the WMC title.....Frank Klaus.

Quite the meteoric rise for Klaus over the last few months. He will now get a chance to become the world champion. Albert Ostheim and Leandro Rocha called it a day and we now have some holes to fill on the roster. New blood will be coming for out next show in Hartford. Up next: The Battle for the title is on.

This is the site of the mandatory title defense for Carmen Basilio. Tonight, he is making his first second career defense of the WMC Title. Frank Klaus has had a marvelous year. It was only a year ago that he made his debut scoring a TKO over Stuart Robinson. He has fought 9 times winning 8 and avenging his only loss two months ago in Wisconson. But is he good enough to down Basilio? The undercard features a fight between two of the biggest punchers Frank Apostoli and William Lee. That one is sure to please. Also fighting tonight before this packed crowd top contenders Langolis and Joseph, undefeated Ben Jeby and Jimmy Flood. Let the fights begin!

Keith Tamlin 5-7-0(0) v. Willie Warren 4-2-0(0)

This is a rematch, in the first meeting Warren handled Tamlin quite easily and coming off of his last couple of fights needed a confidence builder. His fight here was just that. He made easy work Tamlin in the opener. All three judges score it 100-90.

Jimmy Flood 6-6-1(4) v. Rugero Iasi 5-7-1(2)

This was quite a good fight from both men. Flood and Iasi were very active and landed good blows back and forth. Iasi was getting little desperate toward the later rounds and got tagged by a shot that put him down. He got up and finished the fight, but the damage from the knockdown was evident on his face and the scorecard. 97-93, 97-93 and 98-92 all for a very happy Jimmy Flood.

Ben Jeby 3-0-0(2) v. Odlanier Sarduy 2-1-0(1)

Ben Jeby could be for real. Sarduy gave him his best run to this point but it still wasn't good enough. Jeby controlled the battle from the beginning and wore Sarduy down methodically round after round. Jeby never landed any blows that appeared to hurt Sarduy but it was the cumulative damage that did him in. In the 9th Sarduy finally went down but he got up at 8 and again in the 10th he was taken down. That count he could not beat. And Ben Jeby is off to a flying start. Is he the next Frank Klaus?

Pierre Langolis 8-4-0(1) v. Charley Joseph 6-4-1(1)

Sometimes a fight between two boxers looks like a pillowfight at a sorority slumberparty, and sometimes it looks like one guy had bricks in his pillow. The latter was more the case here. These two spent a lot of time dancing and landing on the outside. In fact it was a nice fight, but one look at Charley Joseph's face and you would think he was in a train wreck. He was cut under his left eye and he had a nasty cut inside his mouth. Langolis won the last battle between these two but Joseph, despite his face was equal to the task. The result was a good battle. 96-94, 96-95 and 96-94 all for Pierre Langolis. Joseph is totally dejected.

Freddy Apostoli 10-3-1(6) v. William Lee 9-4-0(4)

One of these fighters made one helluva statement tonight. The other needs to go back to the drawing board. Freddy Apostoli made a mark on the WMC division with quite possibly the single most dominating fight in the history of the Council. Lee is no slouch competitor having fought some tough matches and bravely losing to Carmen Basilio twice, but tonight he was absolutely no match for the former champion. Apostoli seemed like a man on a mission and his mission is still to get the gold around his waist. Lee was creamed in the second and sent sprawling across the ground. He managed to get up and finish the round. He was hindered by some swelling around his right eye from a series of left Jab/Hook combos in the first round. That seemed to act like a big target for the former champ as he thundered to the third round. In the third Lee stopped defending himself and the ref was forced to call the fight.

Carmen Basilio 11-1-0(6) v. Frank Klaus 8-1-0(4)

This fight is for the WMC Championship!

Round 1: Both men feel each other out, with Klaus being the more active.
Round 2: An even round with Basilio landing a solid uppercut that caught Klaus attention at the end.
Round 3: Basilio starts where he left off with a great punch and followup. Klaus holds for much of the round.
Round 4: Another action filled round. Klaus was more effective that the last couple, but Basilio stayed with him.
Round 5: Klaus finally lands a punch that hurts Basilio, but his follow up is poor and Basilio recovers and keeps the round close.
Round 6: Controversy in this round, as Basilio is warned for butting and shortly thereafter a huge gash is opened up over Klaus' right eye. Could the headbutt have had an impact? The ref ruled that the cut was from an intentional butt. Klaus had a hard time dealing with the blood in his eye.
Round 7: Klaus started 7 off with a flurry and send Basilio backward. In control of the round Klaus lets down for a second and Basilio lands a left hook to the body that staggers Klaus, but Klaus keeps the pressure on and finishes the round.
Round 8: Basilio comes back with a rush of blows to seize control of the round. Basilio lands a up and down combo and Klaus' cut is wide open again. The ref stops the fights and the doctor suggests that the cuts are to serious to continue. The ref awards a TKO victory to Carmen Basilio. What a tainted win for the champ.

Up to that point Basilio was ahead on two cards but only by a point. It was a very close fight, and the kind that calls for rematch!

We have had some pretty high turnover the last couple of months. Guys have been retiring instead of sticking it out. At this point the roster is still full because we have more that can fill their place. Here are the most recent retirees: Albert Ostheim 3-7-1(1), Leandro Rocha 3-7-0(2), Stuart Robinson 3-8-0(1), and Keith Tamlin 5-8-0(0).

So this week will be special, instead of a bunch of fighters facing off against each other in a tournament, we will have a fighter making their debut in each and every fight, including the Main Event. Our event this month is meant to be a showcase of all the new talent to the WMC. Some fights will be harder than others, but in the interest of fairness, the pairings were purely random.

We hope that you as well as our house crowd enjoy this show of up and comers.

Red Cooke 0-4-0(0) v. Mike Pusateri 0-0-0(0)

An awful lot of holding and clinching in this fight. The ref was constantly separating the two of them and he warned Cooke a number of times for fouls. Neither man was very well conditioned and as the fight wore on it became even sloppier. Pustateri landed some good shots that had Cooke going backward, but it was a hook in the 7th that put Cooke down, and eventually a cross that put him down for good.

Kevin Morrison 4-6-2(1) v. Leonard Townsend 0-0-0(0)

Both fighters looked good entering the ring, but it was the last time that Kevin Morrison looked good. Townsend demonstrated a solid fundemental boxing base and good power through the fight. He did his best work on the inside where Morrison left himself open for the uppercut all fight. It would prove to be his undoing as he took a particularly wicked uppercut that sent him to the floor. He managed to get up at 6, but quickly lost his balance and was counted out.

Ruggero Iasi 5-8-1(2) v. Louis Pendleton 0-0-0(0)

This was a solid fight that the crowd got into really well. Iasi was the aggressor and did most of the damage, but Pendleton fought a good fight. In the 5th Pendleton was cut and struggled to deal with that, while Iasi seemed to get more and more accurate with his shots. The cut was stopped to start the next round, but after a couple of blows it was clear that it was going to cause long term problems. After long examinations, the ref called the fight.

Gilbert Baptist 6-7-1(2) v. Donatas Balciunas 0-0-0(0)

Another pretty entertaining fight. The more experienced fighter clearly dominated the action landing many, many more blows. Things looked like they might get evened out when Baptist was seriously cut under his right eye, but Balciunas just couldn't capitalize. 100-90, 99-91, 100-90 all for Baptist.

Jimmy Flood 7-6-1(4) v. Yoel Tabarez 0-0-0(0)

Flood at one time was a title hopeful so his match against Tabarez was thought to be a mismatch of sorts. It turns out that Yabarez was quite a challenge. He stayed right with Flood, and peppered him with almost as much as he got in return. Neither fighter was hurt although both had to deal with cuts in the fight. Flood seemed to find his second wind and realize the severity of the situation after about round 6. The scores were 99-93, 99-93 and 98-94 as Jimmy Flood gets the win.

Odlanier Sarduy 2-2-0(0) v. Johnny Wilson 0-0-0(0)

This fight turned into the classic Boxer v, Brawler fight where the Brawler ends up plodding all over the ring chasing the guy on his bicycle, while the Boxer lands crisp shots and moves in and out at will. Clearly this was Sarduy's best fight, and while he hasn't been overly impressive he has shown good heart. For Wilson, his boxing skills already seem to rival some that we have seen in the WMC. The final judgement will be seen over the coming months, but this was a good fight. Sarduy was knocked down and also forced to deal with a cut that gradually worsened through the fight, ultimately stopping the fight.

It is time for WMC Boxing back in the Midwest! We are here with a great card for you tonight. On the main event we have current #1 title challenger Frank Klaus fighting Willie Warren. Warren has won here and there and this will be a big step up for him. Charley Joseph is going to fight William Lee in the co-feature. On the undercard, undefeated Ben Jeby fights Jimmy Flood, and the impressive Johnny Wilson and Mike Pusateri. The top of the division is a little muddled right now as a number of guys have fought well lately. Next month in Canton is going to be one helluva card, as we round the corner to Austin and the title defense for Carmen Basilio.

Kevin Morrison 4-7-2(1) v. Louis Pendleton 0-1-0(0)

Let's just say that it is safe to say that Louis Pendleton isn't challenging for the title anytime soon. 98-93 Morrison, 97-94 Pendleton and 96-96. A stinking draw. Boo. Morrison was much better.

Mike Pusateri 1-0-0(1) v. Donatas Balciunas 0-1-0(0)

Ladies and Gentleman, I think that we have a new crowd favorite. Mike Pusateri is quite the crowd pleaser. Just seconds into this fight he hit Balciunas with a combination and put him down. Balciunas survived, but the second round didn't go any better and he tasted the canvas again. Pusateri poured it on until the ref called the fight. Pusateri hits like a freight train.

Johnny Wilson 1-0-0(1) v. Yoel Tabarez 0-1-0(0)

Last month Tabarez looked alright against Jimmy Flood, a journeyman fighter who has been a challenger, but this month you hardly knew he was in the ring. Johnny Wilson put on a boxing clinic literally dancing circles around Tabarez. Stat wise Tabarez didn't do anything in the ring, he only landed 37 punches compared to Wilson's 368! Wilson's boxing skills seem honed already. 100-90, 100-90, 100-90.

Ben Jeby 4-0-0(3) v. Jimmy Flood 8-6-1(4)

Jeby steps up in the caliber of competition and shows well. Flood has the experience and stunned Jeby in the second round by putting him down. Jeby responded well and bounced back but was in the hole to start the fight. He managed to stay away from Flood's power but showed little of his own. Fighting from the outside he moved well. Flood also fought well, landing a number of power shots. The judges were divided on this good fight. 96-95 Flood, 96-95 Jeby and 98-91 for Jeby.

Charley Joseph 6-5-1(1) v. William Lee 9-5-0(4)

This fight has loads of potential with the power of Lee, it didn't live up to it's billing. Rounds one and two saw lots of punches land from Joseph and some killer hard shots from Lee. The third saw the soft flesh of Lee's eyebrow tear and the ref stop the fight before it really got going. That is very disspointing for Lee and tonight's crowd.

Frank Klaus 8-2-0(4) v. Willie Warren 5-2-0(0)

We weren't really sure what to expect from Willie Warren. He had lost to Jimmy Flood, and been disqualified in another. Klaus was going to be a much bigger test. Klaus pressured Warren from the start of the fight, throwing punches in intense volleys. None of them were very powerful, but the quantity was overwhelming to Warren at times. Warren had a couple of rounds that were very good, and did seem to hurt the championship contender in round 10. 99-91, 99-91 and 96-94 all for Frank Klaus. Warren loses a tough fight, but against a tough guy.

Canton Memorial Civic Center

Welcome ladies and gentleman to Canton, Ohio! The electricity in the area is pulsing through the crowd. On tap tonight is one of the biggest cards that Ohio has seen from the WMC. There were rumors traveling most of the last two weeks that Carmen Basilio was going to defend his title here and again in Austin if he won, but that was proven false. His opponent tonight is no stranger to the upper part of this division, and with a win tonight, even though it wouldn't win him the title, he would be right in line after next month.

As always in Canton, we have a fight to determine who will face Basilio next month. This month that belongs to #1 contender Frank Klaus and Pierre Langlois. Both men have done very well, and if you will remember it was Klaus who beat Langlois a few months ago in a cut shortend fight. He is sure that if that fight was seen to the end that he would have been victorious. He will get his chance tonight.

Freddie Apostoli is fighting Gilbert Baptist in his effort to climb back to the #1 ranking. Ben Jeby will put his undefeated record on the line against powerful and dangerous William Lee, and crowd favorite Mike Pusateri will start things off. Without further adoo, let's begin!

Odlanier Sarduy 2-3-0(1) v. Mike Pusateri 2-0-0(2)

So the crowd came to see the freakish power of Pusateri and they saw the toughness of Sarduy. Sarduy endured some fantastically brutal blows, and found himself on his back twice during the fight, but each time he got back up and found not only a way to survive, but a way to push Pusateri back with his jab. One of the best opening fights that we have had, these two should fight next month too. 95-93, 94-94 and 96-92 for Pusateri by majority decision.

Leonard Townsend 1-0-0(1) v. Ruggero Iasi 6-8-1(3)

A faced paced fight at the start Iasi realized that he couldn't keep pace with Townsend around the 4th. As hard as Iasi fought, it seemed that he couldn't beat Townsend to the punch. Townsend landed some good punches, and hurt Iasi a couple of times, but he really won the fight with his nonstop punch throwing. 97-94, 99-92 and 99-92 for Townsend. A good win against a solid fighter.

Ben Jeby 5-0-0(3) v. William Lee 9-6-0(4)

So Ben Jeby wants to step up in competition? Lee, a former title contender, is a heavy hitter. The thing about heavy punchers is that they actually have to hit you in order to do any damage. That was just what Jeby did. He was much faster than Lee, and his busy hands tormented the slower man. Lee landed some good shots, but his failure to follow them with anything at all meant that Jeby was safe most of the fight. All the judges scored the fight 99-92 for Jeby as he continues his undefeated run. The upper echelons of the division have to take note of this win.

Freddie Apostoli 11-3-1(7) v. Gilbert Baptist 7-7-1(2)

Yes! This was the fight that we wanted. Gilbert Baptist was quite an underdog coming into the fight, but he proved that he is no pushover. He hasn't been in the top of the contenders pool for a while, and some of his fights have been pretty ugly, but he took the former champion all the way to the end of the fight. In fact he actually hurt Apostoli a couple of times. Now don't think that it was all Baptist, because Apostoli landed more than his fair share of blows, and he was slippery as an eel in the ring. The judges thought that the fight was a bit more lopsided than I, 99-91, 97-93 and 97-93 all for Freddie Apostoli.

Pierre Langolis 9-4-0(1) v. Frank Klaus 9-2-0(4)

Klaus started the fight very slowly, and was really outworked early on. Langolis used his jab very effectively and built an early lead. Klaus started to catch up towards the end of round 6 and landed a couple of good blows, but nothing that really put Langolis in jeopardy. Toward the end of the fight Langolis continued to be tentative and preserve the lead, but Klaus started to come on very strong, bullying Langolis all over the ring in rounds 8 and 9. Klaus clearly brought the fight home at the end with an offensive show that kept the crowd on it's feet. But was it enough? 96-94, 95-95 and 97-93 for Frank Klaus by majority decision. He will fight Basilio next month in Austin.

Carmen Basilio 12-1-0(8) v. Charley Joseph 7-5-1(2)

Round 5 of this fight was quite possibly one of the best rounds for any fighter who didn't have a knockdown. Carmen Basilio was on a mission from the start of the fight. Joseph kept it close early on, but he suffered a cut in the 4th and a brutal pounding in the 5th. Joseph was just plain worn out by the end of the 6th and Basilio kept the pressure on. The cut proved to be Joseph's undoing as Basilio kept hitting it like a great big target. The ref stopped the fight in the 8th, to protect Joseph from any more damange. Clearly he is a deserving Champion.

Austin Convention Center

Austin, Texas

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the big event! Tonight we will feature some of the biggest names in the WMC, and we will have a main event that should be pleasing to all. World Middleweight Council Champion Carmen Basilio, coming off of his dominant win last month over Charley Joseph, will face Frank Klaus in a rematch of their fight here four months ago. The co-feature will be Pierre Langolis facing Freddie Apostoli, those two havn't fought since last year when Apostoli beat him on the cards. We also have a special fight of undefeated up and comers Ben Jeby, and crowd favorite Mike Pusateri. Other fighters who will appear are Charley Joseph, Jimmy Flood, and Willie Warren. Basilio is making his 3rd overall defense of the title, and his second since winning the title back in February. Without any more delay, let's get to the action!

Odlanier Sarduy 2-4-0(1) v. Louis Pendleton 0-1-1(0)

A dirty little fight that saw a lot of punches thrown but a couple of points deducted as well. Sarduy was cut from a headbutt, but it wasn't a factor in the fight. Sarduy landed a majority of the punches and controlled the action. It was enough to open the fight with a 97-93, 98-92 and 98-92 unanimous decision win.

Leonard Townsend 2-0-0(1) v. Warren Willie 5-3-0(0)

This fight could be the sleeper of the night. It was a puchfest from the start with both men doing equal parts of damage to the other. Willie, not known as a real power puncher, could not keep Townsend at bay, but he moved and countered well. Townsend landed well on the inside, but took a lot of shots to get there. In the 8th, with both men quite tired, Townsend landed a 5 punch flurry that send Wille to the canvas in a state of shock. He quickly got back up, but Townsend would work hard to finish the round along with rounds 9 and 10 in good fashion. 98-91, 96-93 and 98-91 all for Leonard Townsend.

Charley Joseph 7-6-1(2) v. Jimmy Flood 8-7-1(4)

Another good fight that the crowd was into. Flood and Joseph put on a real show for the first 5 rounds and the fight seemed to be anyone's. For some reason, round 6 and beyond were not kind to Flood, he stopped doing the things that had worked so well earlier. Joseph continued to be accurate with his jab and he clearly was getting the better of Flood. In the 8th Joseph really hurt Flood, and continued the barrage until the end of the round. Flood did not give up and tried, but he was tired, and by now Joseph was brimming with confidence. 95-95, 95-95 and 97-93 for Flood. Wow! I certainly didn't see a draw out of this fight, let alone that kind of lead for Flood. This has to be tough for Joseph to take, especially on the heels of that loss to Basilio.

Ben Jeby 6-0-0(3) v. Mike Pusateri 3-0-0(2)

Quite a contrast in styles here. Pusateri, the big bomber, versus Jeby, the skilled tactician. Jeby was all over the place, and his movement was clearly a factor in the fight. Pusateri really didn't get many good shots off early, but later in the fight he really had Jeby hurt, after 3 huge punches. Jeby held on and finished the fight looking like the winner. He had landed almost 4 times as many punches as Pusateri, even though Pusateri through more, and Pusateri's face was cut under both eyes and his left eye was swelled up quite a bit. 98-91, 96-93 and 98-91 all for Ben Jeby. Could Ben Jeby fight he way to the top of the division?

Freddie Apostoli 12-3-1(7) v. Pierre Langolis 9-5-0(1)

This fight was everything that we hoped it would be. Both men are very skilled boxers and used all of their skill tonight. Langolis was effective with his jab and hook, while Apostoli made better use of his hooks and combos. Langolis never hurt his opponent, but he was stunned in the 8th by a big uppercut. Apostoli had some swelling early, on his left eye, and that gave Langolis an advantage. He fought through it as both men fought a pretty even fight. In the end the judges saw the fight a little bit more open then I did. 97-93, 98-92 and 97-93 all for Freddie Apostoli.

WMC Championship Bout

Carmen Basilio 13-1-0(9) v. Frank Klaus 10-2-0(4)

Round 1: Klaus was more active in this round, but Basilio landed a very good shot that backed him up.
Round 2: Basilio opened up here and landed a ton of shots using his jab to set it all up. Klaus has some swelling around his left eye.
Round 3: A lot of clinching and a headbutt, but no blood. Not very exciting.
Round 4: Similar to the last round, Basilio was warned for holding and hitting, Klaus has the edge.
Round 5: Klaus seems to slowly be building a lead, as he seems to be getting the better of Basilio little by little. The swelling around his eye is building.
Round 6: Basilio answers with a good round although he was warned again for holding and hitting.
Round 7: A fantastic round for the fans, both men traded blows, but the swelling for Klaus is getting to be a problem. He may not make it 5 more rounds.
Round 8: The power of Carmen Basilio largely had been absent from this fight, until now. Basilio started early with a combination and kept the pressure on. Klaus tried to fight back, and things were looking up when Basilio lost a point for more holding and hitting, but Basilio came right back and put Klaus on the defensive with a volley of shots, until the ref stopped the fight. Again, like last time, this fight ends in the 8th by TKO for the Champ!

Carmen Basilio retains the title. For what it's worth Basilio was now leading on two cards while the third was tied.
