OK, stupid question because it has not come up before, is Tainted Love considered to be the version with Where Did Our Love Go or not?
Its not listed so I figure its not, but it hasn't really mattered to me until this round. |

Up to this point the top 4 songs in the bracket have receive more support than the bottom 4...I found that interesting.

I'm trying to leave things open to interpretation, but I will note the extended version was part of a 12" dance mix. Use that information however you feel appropriate. |

Not sure what it says about the US charts and OHW that 7 of the final 8 are European bands/singers.
Most of them had multiple hits in their homelands, but just broke the US charts once. Other than Modern English who didnt even have the one hit in the UK, they're no hit wonders there. |

Looking like A-Ha may make a wooden-esgue UCLA run through this tourney

500 miles would have been my pick for the #2 seed. Sad to see them meet their match here.

I think this goes to show that your rating system worked pretty well, based upon the seeds left for the elite 8.

No Rain and 99 Luftballons were my two favorite songs in the tournament. Looks like I won’t have a favorite team in the final four.

given we are already at 45 votes and our maximum number of votes for any pod was 50, I'm not sure how many more votes we are going to get, but we do have about 24 hours left in this one...

Surprised there is only one semi-close race in this one so late in the contest

The 4 vs. 5 seed match up was definitely the toughest one for me here. Given what I expect the median age for FOFC folks, I am not surprised that we're pretty much left with only songs from the 80's. That was definitely how I was leaning.

4/5 was the only one that was even remotely difficult for me. I’ve been voting against tubthumping from day 1 and the other two seem like no brainers even though I like all the songs in general

So, what you're saying is that you keep trying to knock down tubthumping, but it keeps getting back up again. You ain't never gonna keep it down.

The only good thing about Chumbawamba is they are one of the few UK bands that didn't lose their accent when singing |

You might say that tubthumping is trapped in the state of imaginary grace, and I've made a pilgrimage to save this contest's fate. |

it's called sheeping the numbers which I fully expected. I used to like the song a lot...but I fully went through the full nostalgia retro phase from 2000-2010 when VH1 showed all of those retro nostalgia shows like I Love the 80s plus all the countdowns....then lots of racio stations picked up on this vibe and started playing lots of 80s songs constantly....so now here I am oversaturated on 80s hits and only wanting to hear 80s deepcuts...or anydeepcuts for that matter. |

I'm not convinced it wins. Basically this is going to come down to four songs that are similar in era and, generally, style. Take on Me has had an easier path, but Tainted Love-99 Luftbaloons is currently splitting a similar vote. Many of those votes could vote for the winner of that matchup over a-ha. Same goes in the final. |

The final 4 is set, but given that weekend voting is typically lower, I'm going to wait to set up the poll until Monday.
