Bios Corruption Help

Per this thread: Laptop Battery Dead.... - Front Office Football Central

Now it happened w/o the laptop battery in, and I'm getting a flashing num lock and flashing caps lock. According to some stuff I found on the net, it means "bios corruption". I have an HP Pavilion DV7. Any suggestions?

Can you go into the BIOS?

A lot of systems, have a "backup" copy of the BIOS which can be loaded if the main copy gets corrupted. You may also be able to download a copy of the bios from HP's site (or if you can figure out your mobo mfr you might be able to get it there). Not sure how (or if) you can get it installed without being able to boot, though.

I've got it back up and it's working ok, by holding down the windows key, and B, and pressing the power button. But I guess it's about time for a new laptop. This blows.
