TCY - How many of you are playing?

Just wondering how many here are involved in an active TCY career? I bought the game back when it first came out, but I probably haven't played it in three years. I'm starting a new career as I type this.

I'm generally a FOF addict, but my comp crashed and I'm waiting for ViaTech to get back to me with my order ID # so I can license the game again.

TCY was probably the most addictive game I've ever played. I would get the 'just one more turn!' bug bad when playing that game, and would stay up WAY late playing it. I finally shelved it, and haven't gotten back into it in about a year...I'm afraid of what I might do

NOT me, tried many times to like the game but can't get past the recruit-a-thon . I still play FOF 2004 though.

I'm currently hoping that Jim's ''new'' game will come out this summer.

Yep, me too. I played again recently and actually got into it for a while - went several seasons in the Sol. 8 before the record keeping of recruiting started to get tedious for me.

I've given TCY several tries over the years, but, like others mentioned, the recruiting bogged me down too much each time and I eventually quit trying - I think my longest career lasted 5 or 6 seasons.

I love FOF, though, and have a hard time stepping away from it.

I've played the hell out of it and gotten my money's worth 10x over.

But, I can not seem to get back into now that the conferences have all realigned.

I've played it a lot. Not in a long time, though. Right now would be the perfect time for a sequel.... NOW!..... GO!....

I've played it pretty extensively but haven't played it in several months at this point. It's a fun game, and I love the college system, but the recruiting gets a bit old. Hopefully there will be an update of the game sometime.

Recruiting is the best part of the game, needs to be more in-depth though.

I'm travelling right now and tried to do a new dynasty on my laptop, but it's all screwed up with players changing names and the size/weights reading things like 48-100 for every player. I need to reload it but don't have the disk with me on the road.

After a hiatus of six months or so, I started another career two weeks ago. I hadn't tried running an option offense before, so I planned to run it out of the wishbone.

It took me a while to get back into the flow of recruiting and time management (thank you TCY Helper), but after a few weeks of simming, I was starting to get hooked again.

In week 4 or 5, I wasn't doing very well recruiting QBs with good rushing numbers, but noticed the #8 QB in the country had no scholarship offers. The scout said that he liked to run "All the Time". He ended up visiting us, despite not meeting any of his criteria. I had an excellent syndicate coordinator that I was sure to lose after the season, so I decided to bribe him and he accepted. Two weeks later he signed with us.

After the season, I look at his scouting page and see that he has a scrambling value of about 20, and most of his other attributes have green bars in the 80s.

That put me in a bit of a dilmemma. I could either scrap my idea of running the option (which really wasn't doable anyway because I had a total of four receivers and only one of them was worth a damn), or I could waste a potentially great passing QB by forcing him to run the option anyway. Neither option appealed to me.

With all the talk about NCAA 2006, I decided to start another NCAA 2004 dynasty and have been playing that since.

To make a long story even longer, I don't think I'll be going back to it until I'm done playing 2006 and I know for sure that TCY 2 isn't Jim's next release.

I love the game, but I just can't play it anymore as it's just too dated. It's a shame when the console dynasty modes are more in-depth than a text sim .

I'm a total TCY addict, but I've held off playing lately because of the possibility that TCY 2 might come out. Has there been any sign that TCY 2 is definitely the next new game from Solecismic?

I've played it a helluva lot, but right now, all my playing time is dedicated to MP FOF leagues...

Like some posters above, I really really hope there's a TCY2 in the near-future...

I too hope there is a TCY 2 in the not-so-distant future, but despite having FBCB and FOF2004, I've still spent about all my gaming time locked up the TCY frame of mind...and the only thing that will get me away from it is TCY 2.

I usually play TCY in the summer when I'm away on vacations (don't ask me why, it just happens to be like this every year...). So TCY should return soon for me !

I haven't played TCY in a while. I'm also dislike the recruiting aspect mixed with the season. I undertand that's the way it goes in college, but the cleanness of FOF's Football Season followed by FA1, Draft, FA2 is simply superior for this style of game.

Sorry about that. It should read like "until ... I know for sure that TCY 2 isn't Jim's next release"

Obviously I have no idea what his next release is going to be.

Ever since I started playing FBCB early last year, I could never go back to TCY. If all college football games were made just like FBCB, that would be a dream for me (mainly in the way it flows easily and addictively from month to month, and how recruiting is mostly done before you play the season).

Edit: Adding something from Dutch's post.

I enjoy combining FOF with TCY for a multi game dynasty. It's fun to see my college studs go to the NFL level.

I think it would be very interesting if TCY2 and Bowl Bound were to come out close together.

I play somewhat irregularly (on for a month, down for 3, on with another team for another month, etc). But the most fun I had with the game was the TCY Challenge we had here years ago. That was a blast: I loved winning the National Championship in like my 18th season (out of 20) as a "realigned" Notre Dame in the Big 10. It was an uphill task that actually seemed to have a goal. Maybe we should try another one some time...

I thought about thatthe moment I heard Bowl Bound was coming out, since TPF was announced months in advance and then the FOF2k4 came out a month ahead of it with no warning and stunned everyone. If it's TCY2, it could be history repeating itself.

Jim has earlier indicated to expect an announcement mid-year. That's a somewhat broad time frame. Based on past releases, I wouldn't expect more than a few weeks from an announcement to a release, but we'll see.
