Our choices for the next game were either UConn or Stanford. #4 UConn beat #7 Stanford 94-67.

In the other Elite 8 games:

BYU beat Texas Tech 78-59. #5 Northwestern beat #2 Mississippi State 85-84.

Of the Final Four teams, BYU is the most dangerous team besides ourselves.

UConn has a rating of 92, BYU a 95, and Northwestern a 88.

UConn is 31-6 (15-3.) They have kept winning despite 2 of their main rotation players being out with injuries, SO SF Keena Arline (who usually starts at PF for them) has a broken arm and FR PG Colin Toole has a broken ankle.

They are led by superstar SO SF Scooter Duggins who is 6'9 245 and is rated 90 overall. He was the #1 player in his class and he is expected to go pro after this year. He does it all offensively - he can post up with great skill, he can shoot the 3, he can hit the midrange. He is strong fast, and quick. His defense is poor or otherwise he'd be a 95 type player. He is averaging 17.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 1.8 apg.

SR SG Stanislav Villanueva is 6'6 205 and is rated 87 overall. He is a very skilled shooter from anywhere on the floor. He is averaging 18 ppg, 3.0 rpg, and 1.4 apg.

FR SF Alexei Belser is starting at PF in place of the injured player. He is 6'8 210 and is rated 85 overall. He can drill the 3 with great skill. He was the #2 player in his class last year. He is very athletic and one of the best dunkers in basketball. He is averaging 10.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 2.2 apg.

SR PG Ashley Henning runs the show. He is 6'4 210 and is rated 84 overall. He is their best defender. He is averaging 8.2 ppg and 6.4 apg.

SO C Juan English provides the size and toughness on this team. He is 7'0 220 and is rated 80 overall. He is the best shot blocker we've faced all year. He is a decent rebounder as well. He is limited offensively. He is averaging 5.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, and 2.4 bpg.

Their bench is deep as well:

JR PG Dusty Danley is 6'1 193 and is rated 84 overall. He's an excellent 3 point shooter. He's averaging 4.6 ppg and 1.9 apg in just 11 mpg.

SR SG Darrid Radakovich is 6'5 218 and is rated 83 overall. He's averaging 5.2 ppg in 11 mpg.

FR C Raymond Norris was the #1 C in the nation last year in H.S. He is 7'0 240 and he has a good post game offensively already. He's also a good shot blocker. He's averaging 6.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 1.4 bpg in just 20 mpg.

I'll play them later.

Northwestern upset BYU 76-73 to advance to play us in the National Championship Game! They did it despite losing their star SF to a torn ACL in the game. They relied on massive star PF Devon Bird who put up 28 points for them in the win.

A look at their roster which is strong 8 deep even with the injury:

JR PF (but plays C for them) Devon Bird is massive at 6'10 315 lbs. However, he is mostly muscle and plays with considerable ability inside. He is rated 87 overall. His only big weakness is his stamina. He's averaging 16.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg, and 1.2 bpg.

SR SF Tron Mombollet is out but he is their next highest rated player at 84.

JR PF Tyson Harvey is 6'8 227 and is rated 82 overall. He's averaging 11.8 ppg and 6.0 rpg. He is mostly an interior scorer.

SR SF Rudolph Cripe moves into the starting lineup. He is 6'6 217 and is rated 80 overall. He is a decent defender and offensive player with no big strengths or weaknesses. He is averaging 5 ppg and 2 rpg.

FR SG Najeeb Campbell is a 6'5 189 pound slashing guard who doesn't have much of an outside shot yet. He is rated 79 overall. He is averaging 7.7 ppg and 3.6 apg.

SO PG Laron Bragg is 5'11 170 and is rated 77 overall. He's a 3 point specialist who can pass well, but his defense is horrible. He's averaging 8 ppg and 3.9 apg.

JR PF Johnathan St. Fort is their leading player off the bench with the injuries. He is 6'8 250 and is rated 78 overall. He is averaging 2.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg in 10 mpg.

FR SG Fred Hoffman is 6'1 187 and is rated 77 overall. He's a 3 point specialist who is averaging 9 ppg.

SO PG Stevan Dickerson is 6'3 180 and is their best perimeter defender on the team. He's rated 76 overall and has poor offensive skills. He's averaging 2.2 ppg and 0.8 apg.

The rest of their bench is rated in the low 70's. I'll play them later.

RS SR Leo Annen - Top Pick, SR PF A.C. Fuller - 1st round, SR PF Desmond Stevens - Lottery, JR PG Marcellus Badu - Lottery (expected to leave USC early), SR SG Farrell - 1st round, RS SO SF Kody Hehn - 1st round (will he leave early or stay and be the focal point next year?), RS SO Kilgore - 2nd round (should stay), SO PF Allan Wolfe - 2nd round (hopefully he doesn't transfer), RS SR Walk-on PG Domonic Cox - undrafted, SR C Duane English - Dark horse to be 2nd round pick pick.

The Alamodome is insanely loud..

19:27 - With time expiring on the shot clock, Annen is fouled on a 3 point attempt. He makes all 3 FT's.

Cripe with a quick 3.

16:06 - Our attempts to get other players going aren't successful so far, so we go back to Annen who converts a 3 point play. We are tied at 6.

15:19 - Badu on the fastbreak gets a 2nd foul on Cripe. We are down 9-8.

14:30 - Badu and Annen with a 2-on-1 fastbreak.. Badu with a perfect alley-oop pass and Annen gets it and throws it down! We lead 10-9.

13:39 - Badu with a drive, hits a pull-up jumper and gets fouled by Bragg. That is the 2nd foul on Bragg. Badu finishes the 3 point play. We lead 15-11.

11:00 - WOW. Annen is ON tonight. He's hitting fadeaway jumpers, hooks in the post, 3's. He's doing it all, so we're going to keep feeding him. We lead 25-14.

7:44 - We are in full blown run and gun mode now and we are firing on all cylinders. Stevens, Badu, Farrell, Annen. All of them are scoring and doing it quickly. We lead 39-18.

4:00 - We are playing brilliant unselfish basketball. I think this is the fastest I've ever hit 50 points in game. We lead 50-24.

With all of the timeouts and the adrenaline from the crowd, we aren't even getting tired.

:45 - English picks up his 3rd foul. I put in Prillman. We lead 61-30.

Halftime: We lead 61-33.

Not much suspense in this one, but I'll post this halftime update as usual for the Championship Game.

Annen is the player of the half with 21 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Badu with 11 points, 6 assists, and 1 steal.

Farrell with 16 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Stevens with 9 points, 8 boards, and 1 steal.

English with 3 points, 3 boards, and 1 block.

Will we break our team record of 113? Will Annen break 40? Probably not, as I'll call off the dogs soon unless they get back in this.

19:49 - Stevens picks up his 3rd foul. Hehn into the game at PF.

15:29 - Annen is tired. He's been doing the most this game on both ends. I rest him and put in Hehn at SF. I put in Fuller at PF. We lead 74-46.

12:00 - We lead 80-54 as I've scaled back our tempo greatly.

9:30 - Time to pull my starters, likely for the rest of the game. We lead 87-57. I put in Cox, Moss, Kilgore, Wolfe, and English.

3:00 - We take out English and get Fuller in at PF. Time for him to get a few points. We lead 94-65.

We win the game 97-75! Repeat National Champions!

Annen is the player of the game despite his short night - 31 points, 4 boards, 1 assist, and 3 steals. He shot 11 of 15, 0 of 2 (I thought he made some, but I guess not) and 9 of 10.

Badu finishes with 19 points, 10 assists, 3 steals, and a block.

Farrell with 18 points on 5 of 8, 2 of 3, and 6 of 7 shooting.

Stevens with 11 points, 7 boards, and 2 steals. He shot 5 of 8.

English with 3 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks.

Hehn with 4 points, 1 board, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Kilgore with 5 points and 3 boards.

Cox with 3 points and 2 assists.

Prillman with 3 boards. Moss with 2 points.

This team was a joy to play with. Will I have any surprise returning players? Will Hehn make the jump (I think it is about 50/50 for him right now.)

Annen was drafted #1.

Badu went early and was drafted in the high end of the lottery.

Everyone else went as expected. Hehn is coming back for another year!

All together we lost:

PG Badu (early entry), PG Cox (not drafted), SG Farrell (drafted), SF Annen (1st overall), PF Stevens (drafted), Fuller (drafted), and English (not drafted.)

With those 7 losses, next year is going to be a much weaker team.

Congrats on another title. Reading the semifinal game, I got the sense that the fix might have been in with the foul calls but your guys overcame that as well. Looking forward to seeing what you have in the tank for next year.

So, better team? This season or last year?

Wow. Just realized we've been in the National Championship game 4 years in a row. We lost the 1st two times there and have won these last 2.

I get offered a ton of jobs including Maryland, Michigan, St. John's, and Oklahoma. I turn them all down.

Whew. Wolfe did not transfer. He'll be a big part of the team next year.

ASU actually had the highest profile transfer as a 78 rated SO PG left them to go to Fairfield.

Despite having plenty of PT available, we lose out on all of our primary targets in the 1st day of the late signing period. Our #1 target, 5 star PG Truman Peters went to UNLV. I guess he was worried about the PG we signed earlier in the year.

Our other target, a dynamic 5 star SG chose to stay close to his family in Florida and will play for FSU.

We also lost out on 4 star SF Cori Eaton to Washington.

I decide there is one player worth offering late that wants to be at USC. 4 star SG J.W. Knight is from Los Angeles and he desperately wants a scholarship from USC. He's a 6'4 198 pound SG who is ranked 96th overall and 27th among SG's. He averaged 11.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 3.4 apg in the ABL. Our staff grades him as: Shooting B+, Skills B, Defense B+, Athleticism A-, Rebounding B-, IQ B, Potential A, and Size B-.

He is thrilled to get the scholarship offer and signs right away. We still have 3 vacant scholarships and some serious holes on the roster, but I'm not going to offer anyone else unless my scouting finds a diamond in the rough..

This season. Annen is the best player I've ever had and he really played like it. He became a monster in all phases of the game. His dunks were so dynamic and got the crowd going and really helped momentum for the whole team.

Ok, this 5 star PG looks like he might be the real deal. He walks in right away as the starter:

Dainmon Matthews is 6'1 200 and is rated 80 overall. He was ranked 10th overall last year. He's got a 99 speed rating!!! Not to mention great quickness, good ball handling, and he's a legit 3 point shooter. His defense needs work but I'll take his offense right now.

At SG, we'll be starting Moss, although the freshman, Edmund Grant, will push him:

JR SG Connally Moss is now 6'9 250. He's rated 79 overall. His post skills have become very good. Mixed with his passing, he'll get the ball plenty down there.

FR SG Edmund Grant was ranked 56th player overall in H.S. He's lived up to what my scouting thought of him. He's 6'3 176 and rated 79 overall. He is a legit outside shooter (unlike Moss) who can hit the 3. However, he's a bit slow and is a subpar defender.

FR SG J.W. Knight will probably just be a depth player his entire career here. He's rated 71 overall and I'm disappointed in the initial look at him. Hopefully, he can prove me wrong and show that he was worth the scholarship. He'll redshirt.

SF is our position of strength:

JR SF Kody Hehn is now 6'11 240 and is rated 89 overall. He does everything but passing well. He'll start at SF for us.

RS JR SF Devon Kilgore will be our top man off the bench and could play anywhere but C for us. He is 6'9 220 and is rated 87 overall. His best attribute is his midrange shooting.

Walk-on RS FR Ibrahim Sylla is 6'5 207 and is rated 70 overall. I don't expect him to play much.

PF is a thin position and I'm hoping we can lure some star players at the position in this upcoming class:

JR PF Allan Wolfe is the only player with skill at the position. He's 6'8 265 and his stamina is a concern. His lack of shooting outside the paint is also a change from Stevens. Still, he's a solid rebounder, a good post scorer in theory, and a decent defender. He'll start at PF. He's rated 86 overall now.

We have 3 walk-on PF's who will never see the floor and 1 might not make the cut this season.

At C, we are thin on experience but the freshman from Michigan has A+ potential!

SO C Rylan Prillman will start. He's now 6'11 235 and his ability to hit the occasional midrange jumper will be nice. However, he isn't the shot blocker or rebounder that any of our past big men were. Still, he has potential to get better.

FR J.S. Grundy was ranked 88th overall last year. He's now 6'10 260 and is rated 74 overall. His best attribute is his post offense. He could be a major scorer in a year or two. His defense needs a lot of work.

RS FR Walk-on C Jeffrey Blankenship might see some time this year. He's 6'10 230 and is rated 71 overall. He is the quickest of the big men.

RS FR Walk-on C Uche Adeife from Africa isn't developing as I hoped he would. He has a long way to go before he can see the floor. He's now 7'2 255 and is rated 68 overall. His best attribute is his standing dunk.

I have 4 scholarships available.

Early top recruiting targets:

Local 5 star PG Fabien Morrissette has us #1 on his list. He is ranked 22nd overall and is from Hemet, CA. Others on his list are UCLA, Stanford, and Washington. Our staff thinks he is an elite shooter. I'll be going after him hard to backup Matthews.

5 star PF R.J. Farley is going to be a tough pull but he's my top early target at PF. He's ranked 18th overall and 4th among PF's. He has us in his top 3 along with NCST and Miami. He's willing to leave NYC to go south, but will he come so far west?

The top backup plan is SR Pf Antone Ndoye from Berkeley. He is 6'9 248 and is ranked 33rd overall. It's a battle between Stanford and USC for him.

Still can't decide which team is better. I think Kabba's team was deeper for sure, but I think this past year's team has more elite talent everywhere but at C. I'd take this past year's team as having a slight edge but I don't think this year's team could have weathered as many injuries as Kabba's team could.

Also, been thinking about how this team is going to play. This past year I went with a tighter rotation out of choice, wanting to maximize production for my stars. This year, I'm going to have to run a tight rotation by necessity. There are only 8 players on this roster that I want to see the floor unless we are in garbage time:

Matthews - will play the vast majority of the minutes at PG

Moss - will start at SG, but I'll need him to backup at PG as well.

Grant - Will backup at SG when Moss is resting or playing the point.

Hehn - Will start at SF but will also play at PF. He might set a record this year for most minutes played by any of my players. Going to get the ball a lot.

Kilgore - Will be #1 man off the bench. Will limit Grant's minutes a bit.

Wolfe - Will start at PF. Hehn will be the only other player to see minutes with regularity unless we are in foul/injury trouble.

Prillman - Will start at C.

Gundy - Will be primary backup at C. Could play some PF in a pinch but I think he is too slow for the position.

This will be my tightest rotation in years and I'll have to focus on managing time much more closely. Injuries or foul trouble will be a much harder obstacle this year.

Our team rating is a 91 right now as we prepare for our first game which is at home vs Harvard. They are rated 76 overall. Their best 2 players are their big men:

RS SR PF Dugan Edwin is 6'9 240 and is rated 76 overall. SR C Cody Francis is 7'0 225 and is rated 74 overall.

Should be a nice easy win today.

The first basket of the season is from Matthews driving inside and kicking it out to Hehn for a wide open long 2.

15:00 - We lead 16-8. Hehn has 9 points already. Matthews is making it easy for him this game. Matthews also has 4 points as his quickness has allowed him to get to the basket and come off a screen very smoothly for a wide open baseline jumper.

14:00 - Kilgore in for Moss. We lead 18-11.

13:10 - Wolfe picks up his 2nd foul. Moss back into the game, Kilgore at SF, and Hehn at PF.

11:00 - Prillman picks up his 2nd foul. Grundy into the game. We lead 22-14.

Matthews on the fastbreak equals pure electricity. No one is going to catch him once he gets ahead. Steal and fastbreak dunk. We lead 24-16.

9:40 - Love Moss's flexibility. Hehn needs a breather, so we slide Moss to PF and bring in Grant at SG. We now have Matthews, Grant, Kilgore, Moss, and Grundy out there. We lead 26-17.

4:30 - Matthews is very tired and needs a break. Moss to PG and Hehn back at PF. We lead 33-25.

1:26 - Grundy picks up his 2nd but will remain in the game. We lead 37-27.

Hehn with a 3 at the buzzer!

Halftime: We lead 40-28.

Hehn is the player of the half with 14 points, 6 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Matthews with 8 points and 6 assists. Moss with 1 point, 2 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Kilgore leads the bench with 7 points and 5 boards.

15:40 - Moss is tired. Kilgore in at SG. We lead 50-36.

11:05 - Matthews is tired, no wonder, this kid is breaking down their defense every since possession. We lead 61-41 as I put Moss in at PG and Grundy in at C.

10:17 - Wolfe picks up his 4th foul. Blankenship will get some PT at PF today.

8:00 - They are making a strong run. Blankenship back out of the game. Hehn is tired. We go with Matthews, Grant, Kilgore, Moss, and Grundy. We lead 67-53.

3:00 - We lead 74-62. Time to get Hehn back into the game. Our closing lineup: Mathews, Kilgore, Hehn, Wolfe, and Prillman.

1:00 - They have made it a 6 point game, 74-68.

Matthews explodes by his man and hits a pull-up jumper.

We win the game 79-70.

Matthews wins player of the game with 21 points, 10 assists, 1 board, and 1 steal. He shot 9 of 15, 0 of 1, and 3 of 8 (FT shooting is his weakest part of his game besides defense.)

Hehn with 21 points, 9 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 8 of 17, 3 of 8, and 2 of 2.

Moss with 5 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Wolfe with 8 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists.

Prillman with 6 points, 6 boards, and 1 assist.

Kilgore led the bench with 9 points and 8 boards.

Grundy with 6 points and 7 boards.

Grant with 3 points and 1 assist. Blankenship with 2 boards.

Our next game is hosting Pacific. They have a rating of 66..

We beat them 88-49.

Matthews with 11 points, 3 boards, and 5 assists.

Moss with 7 points, 6 assists, and 2 boards. Hehn with 14 points, 5 boards, 3 steals, and a block.

Wolfe with 11 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks. Prillman with 11 points, 9 boards, and 1 block.

Kilgore led all scorers with 18 points, 8 boards, and 1 assist.

Grant with 8 points. Grundy with 8 points and 6 boards in just 9 minutes!

Blankenship played 3 minutes and didn't get any stats. Sylla played 3 minutes and got a board. Adeife played 3 minutes and got 0 stats. Ditto for Lalugba (a walk-on PF who I thought would never play but he might in blowouts.)

Recruiting update:

We've offered 5 star PG Fabien Morrissette a scholarship and he has us #1 right now, but Oregon is going after him hard as well. Stanford and UCLA have also offered him but it appears to be either USC or Oregon.

4 star PF Antone Ndoye seems to want to stay close to home. All signs point to him picking Stanford over USC. I just can't believe that with the gaping hole at PF once Wolfe leaves.

5 star PF R.J. Farley is between USC and La Salle now. He doesn't seem to care about distance from what we've heard so I'll continue going after him..

5 star SG Neal Stephenson from New Orleans is another target of ours. We've offered him and it will be a battle between USC, LSU, and Mississippi State. I think he's going to pick Miss. State, but I'll keep pursuing for now.

Our next game is at #3 Michigan. They are 2-0 with a roster rating of 91. They have a very good starting 5:

SR PG Jeremy Woodards is 6'0 190. He is fast and he can play solid defense. Will be a great challenge for Matthews. He is rated 84 overall. He's averaging 4 ppg and 5 apg.

RS SR SG Antuane Bradford is 6'5 201 and is rated 84 overall. He is a very good shooter. He's averaging 17 ppg.

SR SF Shavlik Kampman is 6'6 225 and is rated 85 overall. He is a very good 3 point shooter. He's averaging 14 ppg and 5 rpg.

SR PF Will Christie is 6'8 243 and is rated 84 overall. He's a tough defender and rebounder. He's averaging 8 ppg, 7 rpg, and 1 bpg.

JR C Eni Gogerty is 6'10 223 and is rated 83 overall. He's a strong interior scorer. He's averaging 21 ppg and 10 rpg.

FR SG Steven Bradshaw leads the bench. He's 6'3 190 and is rated 78 overall.

SO C Ike Samuels gives them size off the bench at 6'11 246 and he is rated 78 overall. The rest of their bench is in the low to mid 70's.

18:17 - Matthews is too fast for Bradford who was guarding him for some reason (and Bradford is quite fast himself.) Matthews gets a 2nd foul on Bradford.

17:54 - Hehn gets fouled in the post and scores the first points of the game on FT's.

16:22 - Matthews with a drive to get a 2nd foul on Gogerty. We lead 6-3.

15:00 - Matthews with a great start to this game. Good to see him doing it against strong competition. We lead 9-3. Matthews with 7 points already.

14:00 - Grundy in for Prillman. We lead 13-4.

13:30 - Matthews gets a 2nd foul on Christie.

13:00 - Matthews gets a 2nd foul on Woodards. We lead 15-5.

11:30 - Matthews is exhausted. We rest him and go with Moss, Grant, Kilgore, Wolfe, and Grundy. We lead 18-8.

10:05 - Wolfe picks up his 2nd foul. We lead 21-8.

5:40 - Hehn back in at PF and Prillman back at C. We lead 24-14.

4:23 - Hehn draws the first foul we've drawn since Matthews sat down to rest.

3:07 - Moss doing a great job of setting guys up from multiple spots on the floor. We lead 31-16. That being said, time to get Matthews back in at PG. Moss will get a rest.

Halftime: We lead 34-23.

Matthews is the player of the half with 13 points and 3 assists.

Hehn with 6 points and 3 boards. Prillman with 4 points and 5 boards. Grant with 6 points.

18:52 - Matthews gets a 3rd foul on Gogerty.

18:21 - Matthews gets a 3rd foul on Woodards.

12:34 - We are up 46-35. Moss moves to PG, Kilgore in at SG as we rest Matthews.

7:15 - We lead 52-45 as I rest Hehn. Moss, Grant, Kilgore, Wolfe, and Grundy in the game now.

5:00 - Matthews back into the game. Hehn in at PF resting Wolfe. We lead 56-49.

1:13 - They close with 6 before Matthews turns on the jets and gets to the rim again and is fouled. He makes the shot and the FT's. We lead 68-59.

We win 71-62. Great road win.

Matthews is the player of the game with 21 points, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 1 board. He shot 4 of 8, 1 of 2, and 12 of 18. If he becomes a better FT shooter, he has a great shot at Player of the Year. As it is, I think he has a great shot to become my first (?) National Freshman of the Year.

Moss with 3 points, 3 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Hehn with 17 points and 9 boards. He shot 6 of 16, 1 of 4, and 4 of 6.

Wolfe with 4 points and 7 boards. He shot 2 of 7.

Prillman with 4 points and 5 boards. He shot 2 of 6.

Kilgore led the bench with 15 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal. He shot 5 of 7.

Grant with 7 points. Grundy with 7 boards and a block.

Next up we play at Rider. They are 2-1 with a rating of 83.

Hehn suffers a minor injury in the game but still plays 35 minutes and leads us to a 71-70 win. He finished with 18 points, 9 boards, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 6 of 11.

Matthews with 6 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. He shot 2 of 5.

Moss with 14 points and 3 assists. Wolfe with 10 points, 7 boards, and a block.

Prillman only played 17 minutes due to foul trouble and ifnished with 6 points and 1 board.

Kilgore led the bench with 7 points and 4 boards. Grant with 4 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 boards in just 13 minutes. Adeife played 9 minutes due to the foul trouble and he had 2 points and 2 boards.

Pretty impressive to have a freshman come in at a program like USC and have that kind of impact.

I've never had a guard like this. 99 speed, 97 quickness - it is almost unfair to the other players. I've had a few 95/95 type guys but those extra few points in ratings seem to really make a huge difference. Add to that, a good midrange and 3 point shot and this kid is instant offense. Suddenly, I like our chances to go far into the tourney again.

12:15 - Prillman picks up his 2nd foul. Why we are we fouling their players? Grundy in at C. We are tied at 12.

10:00 - Our guys get angry and go on a 6-0 run before I pull them with 10 minutes to go. We lead 80-40.

I go with Grant, Kilgore, Sylla, Grundy, and Adeife. Really interested to see what the 7'2" Adeife can bring to the table..

We win the game 90-54.

Kilgore's knee shows no structural damage. He'll play our next game which is at Kansas. They are 4-1 with a roster rating of 90. This will be a very tough game.

Ouch. Kansas crushes us 86-59.

We lose out on SG Neal Stephenson to Mississippi State. The 12th ranked player looks like he'll be a great one. They also sign the #2 player in the nation from Macon, GA. What is going on at Mississippi State?

Oregon gets 5 star PG Fabien Morrissette from us.

Stanford gets 4 star PF Antone Ndoye from us.

We have no games during the entire early signing period week..

We didn't pursue him hard, but we lose a 6'4 SF, the #10 player in the nation, to San Diego State. They also sign a 6'7 SF, Booker Largent, who is ranked #8 in the nation. I was going hard after him.

Recruiting this year is not going well at all.

We have another week off. Despite the bye weeks we jump 2 spots to #11 (we fell to #13 after the loss.)

Our next game is at San Diego. They are 8-0 and ranked 20th in the media poll. They have a roster rating of 86.

They are led by JR SG Josiah Plavich who is 6'4 226 and is rated 85 overall. He's a solid player in every area. He's averaging 9 ppg, 4 rpg, and 3.5 apg.

SR PF Dewitt Jeffries is 6'8 240 and is rated 83 overall. He's a strong interior scorer who is averaging 15.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg, and 1 bpg.

JR C R. Wafer is 6'10 250 and is rated 82 overall. He's averaging 12.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg, and 1.4 bpg.

SR SG/SF Reggie Winkfield is 6'5 220 and is rated 78 overall. He's averaging 5.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, and 2.5 apg.

SR PG Steven Copeland is 5'11 194 and is rated 76 overall. He's averaging 2.3 ppg and 1.4 apg.

SR C Demond Bridges is their best player off the bench. He's 7'0 273 and is rated 77 overall. He's averaging 14 ppg, 6 rpg, and 1.1 bpg in 26 mpg.

I'll play them tomorrow.

Oof, tough early recruiting period. Those types of losses especially hurt when you have been pursuing one or more of the players for several seasons through early recruiting....and then you end up having to play them several times a year. I'm looking at you specifically Cal.

Yup. 2 of the guys I went after I had been pursuing since their sophomore year. I wanted to put together an epic class and instead it looks like I may strike out. At halftime of a tough game now..

Moss blocks a 3 point attempt. They get the ball back and shoot another 3. It misses. Prillman with the board and he is fouled.

We make most of our FT's in the last 20 seconds to secure the win.

Dec 18, 2038 -

Today we host a 7-2 Missouri team that is rated 86 overall. Could be a tough game. Fortunately, Matthews is back to 100% for the game!

We crush them 84-52! Hehn led the way with 22 points, 4 boards, 2 steals, and a block. However, Matthews was the guy who really got us going. He finished with 18 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. Good to have him back!

Moss with 11 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Wolfe with 12 points, 2 boards, and 2 blocks.

Prillman with 4 points, 7 boards, and a block.

Kilgore led the bench with 19 points, 5 boards, and 2 assists.

Only downside is Hehn hurt a finger in the game. He'll play through it, but it will bother him for a few weeks.

Our next game (and last OOC game) is against Boise State. They are 7-3 with a roster rating of 79. Their best player is SO C A.D. Walls who is 6'9 259 and is rated 76 overall. Their SR PG Bret Chan is also dangerous with the 3 point shot. He's 6'2 193 and is rated 75 overall.

I'll play them later.

Halftime: We lead 38-28.

Matthews is the player of the half with 14 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. He shot 5 of 7, 1 of 1, and 3 of 3 in the 1st half.

12:00 - We lead 51-45. Matthews is tired. I bring in Grant for him.

Hehn misses a quick post shot. Walls gets an interior basket at the other end.

Matthews sets up Grant for an open shot.. he is fouled on the shot. Grant makes both FT's. Down 69-66 with 2 minutes to go. We bring in Moss for defense as they call timeout.

We force a missed shot by Walls but Grant turns it over. Grant then gets a steal at the other end. We call time. We go with Matthews, Kilgore, Hehn, Wolfe, and Prillman to end the game..

39 seconds - Matthews finds Kilgore on the wing for a long 2.. swish. Down 69-68.

We intentionally foul Demanby, their SF with 36 seconds left. He makes both FT's.

They trap Matthews and he throws it out of bounds trying to break the trap..

We foul hard.. Wow. First time I've ever seen that in this game. Hehn just got hit with a technical foul. I didn't even know they were in the game! They make both FT's and get the ball.

It looks like this is out of reach..

Or not.. Hehn hits a 3 and gets fouled with 9 seconds left. We are down 74-72 as he steps up to the FT line.. he intentionally misses the FT but Walls beats Prillman to the board.

That loss drops us to 9-2 and 17th in the media poll as we prepare for Pac-10 play.

A preview of the conference:

By Power Ratings:

8. Arizona is rated 85 overall with a 7-5 record. Their best player is JR PG Arnaud Werch who is rated 80 overall. They are starting 2 SR's and 2 JR's.

Prillman has a severe high ankle sprain. He is out for 4-6 weeks.

Adeife is going to have to step up.

We are going to go with Kilgore starting at SG and let Moss be a super sub who might even play some C depending upon the situation. Grundy will start at C.

SR SF Jerrad Leach is their most complete player. He's 6'7 228 and is rated 89 overall. He's averaging 8.7 ppg and 3.2 rpg. He is a dunamic defender.

JR C Reggie Brickens is a talented big man who has really improved his footwork. However, his defense is suspect at times. He's averaigng 8.1 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

SO SG J.W. Reese leads their bench. He is 6'6 215 and is rated 81 overall. He's a solid 3 point shooter who is averaging 6.9 ppg.
