Off-season News

In a bit of a surprise, none of the top juniors decided to head to the NFL. Most experts expected two time Heisman winner Rob Nielsen and first team All-American Chas Swaggs to enter their names into the draft but they have both decided to stay in school for one more season.

Four FOFCers will be in the 2015 NFL Draft. Clyde Harp, OLB, from Michigan State. Running backs Izulde Jestor from Wisconsin and Will Brown from Tennessee, and quarterback Jace Hunter from Notre Dame.

2015 NFL Draft

Philadelphia took Will Brown in the first round to be their future feature back.

In the second the Saints decided to take Clyde Harp.

We had to wait all the way until the 7th for the next FOFC player to get picked up when Buffalo decided to take Izulde Jestor.

It was a bad day for Jace Hunter. He sat at home waiting for his name to be called and it never was. The Green Bay Packers called up Jace after the draft and offered him a one-year contract and he accepted. He will try to make the team as their third string quarterback.

Contracts

Philadelphia signed Will Brown to a 5 year, $14.8 million dollar deal.

Clyde Harp signed a 4 year, $7 million dollar contract with New Orleans.

Buffalo inked Izulde Jestor to a 3 year deal worth $1.5 million.

Jace Hunter signed a one-year deal with Green Bay worth $260,000.

2015 - NFL Preseason

Jacksonville Jaguars - Running Back

Brian will once again start for Jacksonville this season. The Jaguars are looking for back-to-back playoff appearances.

Philadelphia Eagles - Running Back

Brown will start the year as the Eagles back-up but expect him to get plenty of carries. Brown is being groomed for the starting role in the near future.

Buffalo Bills - Running Back

Jestor will be the Bills third back. He'll hopefully get some carries and work on moving up the depth chart.

New Orleans Saints - Outside Linebacker

The Saints have liked what they've seen from Harp thus far and have named him a starter at outside linebacker for week one.

Green Bay Packers - Quarterback

Despite not being drafted Hunter did enough in training camp and preseason to earn a roster spot with Green Bay.

2015 - NCAA Preseason

UCLA Bruins - QB - RS Senior

The two-time Heisman is back and looking for a record third Heisman. Leading UCLA to a second straight BCS title would also be a nice way to end his college career. Nielsen will go down as one of the best ever to play college football.

Pittsburgh Panthers - CB - RS Senior

What a great year for Swaggs last season. He ended the year leading the country in interceptions with 10 as he was named to the NCAA First Team All-America list. He will be the star of the Pitt defense and look to lead them to a Big East title.

Texas Longhorns - QB - RS Senior

Even Farley will admit last season was a bit of a disappointment. The Texas QB has high expectations for himself this season as he looks to lead Texas to the top of the Big 12.

Florida State Seminoles - K - RS Senior

Hoo is one of the top kickers in all of the country, talent wise, but he didn't show it on the field last season. He looks to improve as does Florida State who had a bad late season collapse.

UCLA Bruins - WR - RS Senior

UCLA's big play receiver is now undoubtedly Rob Nielsen's number one target. Look for a huge year from the talented wide out.

Stanford Cardinal - QB - RS Junior

Ingram also seems to find himself being overshadowed by fellow Pac-10 quarterback Rob Nielsen. He's hoping this is the year himself and Stanford get past the UCLA hurdle.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - RS Junior

With Jace Hunter in the NFL, the Irish are now Prescott's team. He hopes to lead them back from a terrible 5-6 campaign last season.

Texas A&M Aggies - DE - RS Junior

An injury ruined what was going to be a great sophomore year from Russ. He is back and healthy this season and should be one of the nation's most dominating defensive ends.

Texas A&M Aggies - WR - RS Junior

Foley was heading towards a great season, and like his teammate Dave Russ, his season was ruined by injury. Foley has fully recovered and should have a great season.

Arizona State Sun Devils - S - Senior

Arizona State's defense improved a bit last season so Thomas wasn't asked to make the tackle on every single play. Thomas hopes the Sun Devils can find themselves in a bowl game this season.

Florida State Seminoles - TE - Senior

After three years of very limited playing time the Florida State coaches have named Max Power the starting tight end in his senior season. He hopes to display his talents and get noticed by NFL scouts in only one season.

Maryland Terrapins - ILB - RS Junior

The only bad thing about O'Peake's amazing sophomore season is that it may be hard to repeat. O'Peake was named the NCAA's Defensive MVP after having 7 interceptions last season, 3 of which he returned for touchdowns.

Miami Hurricanes - RB - RS Junior

Wahoo was terrific in his first full season as the starter last season and things should be no different this year. Miami is hoping to be a contender for the BCS Title.

Michigan Wolverines - QB - RS Junior

White's season last year started out terrific. At one point he was considered a top candidate for the Heisman trophy before he fell apart towards the end of the year. He hopes to put it all together this season.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - CB - RS Junior

Some college football analysts feel that Ritschel is a more talented corner than Pitt star Chas Swaggs. It's time for him to show that on the field this season.

Alabama Crimson Tide - DE - RS Sophomore

In limited playing time last season Palmer showed he could be a destructive force on the line. With increased playing time this season how good can he be?

Tulane Green Wave - DE - RS Sophomore

After getting a surprise redshirt last season Ott is back and should be a star on Tulane's line.

Ohio State Buckeyes - OLB - RS Sophomore

Tovar should be a much bigger contributor this season for the #2 team in the country last season.

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles - QB - Junior

Ertmann will sit and watch for one more season before being giving the starting job.

Wisconsin Badgers - TE - Junior

Kastos finally gets a chance to show off what he can do as he gets the Badgers starting tight end job.

Iowa Hawkeyes - QB - RS Sophomore

Hughes should see plenty of time for the Hawkeyes who look to improve in a tough Big Ten.

Temple Owls - S - RS Sophomore

Chagulia is the Owls second safety on the depth chart and should be able to make an impact.

Texas A&M Aggies - CB - RS Sophomore

Mighty had a great end to last season and hopes to put his name in the running for top corner in the country along with Swaggs and Ritschel.

Iowa Hawkeyes - QB - RS Sophomore

Well things could have definitely gone better for Schaplowsky last season but he had some flashes of how good he can be. Schaplowsky hopes to improve along with the Hawkeyes this season.

Florida Gators - RB - RS Sophomore

Nick had a great freshmen season going until it was ended with a knee injury. Doctors say he is fully healed and should be a force for the Gators.

Rice Owls - WR - RS Freshmen

Silvers will be the Owls second receiver on the depth chart. He hopes to prove himself as a top wide out right away.

USC Trojans - WR - RS Freshmen

Morgan is listed as the Trojans third receiver so targets will hit and miss this season but he should see the field quite often.

USC Trojans - S - RS Freshmen

Idol is the Trojans second safety and hopes to be able to make an impact right away.

Michigan Wolverines - RB - Sophomore

Larry was one of the nation's top freshmen last season and should be even better this season. Michigan will lean on him to hopefully lead them to a BCS title game.

Kentucky Wildcats - TE - RS Freshmen

Playing time will be scarce this season for Moore but with two players ahead of him graduating after this season and another with only a year left after this one Moore has plenty of playing time in his future.

Michigan Wolverines - RB - Freshmen

The brother of New Orleans Saints linebacker Clyde Harp, Johnny Harp, will redshirt this season for Michigan.

Arizona State Sun Devils - QB - Freshmen

Avery joins brother Nick on the Arizona State campus this season but will redshirt.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - Freshmen

In a strange move the Irish have chosen not to redshirt Hoo this season despite him being third on the depth chart.

Nebraska Cornhuskers - WR - Freshmen

Nebraska has chosen to redshirt McDowell this season.

Colorado State Rams - TE- Freshmen

Colorado State has chosen to redshirt O'Shea this season.

Florida State Seminoles - ILB - Freshmen

Florida State has decidedto redshirt Williams.

2015 - NFL - Week 1

Solid performance for Brian Butts, but Jacksonville falls to Indy by three. Butts ran the ball 17 times for 75 yards and a touchdown. He also had four receptions.

Will Brown looked good in his first NFL action. 11 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown in a backup role for the Eagles in a 34-11 win over the Redskins.

Clyde Harp picked up two tackles as New Orleans tied Tampa Bay.

It was a solid start in the quest for a record third Heisman for Rob Nielsen. He was 20-26 for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 24-6 win over North Carolina State. David Gonzalez caught 5 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Pitt squeaked by Missouri, 24-21. Not much to show in the way of stats for Chas Swaggs, only one tackle on the day. But, receivers he was defending only caught one pass all day long. He shuts his side of the field down.

Not the start Moe Farley was looking for. Texas barely beat Ohio University, 26-23, as Farley threw no touchdowns and 3 picks.

Solid start for Deion Prescott in a 28-17 Notre Dame win. Prescott was 16-23 for 240 yards and a touchdown.

Dave Russ is without a doubt healthy for 2015. Russ picked up 2 sacks in a 59-7 win over Nevada. Andrew Foley returned from injury as well with 4 receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown. Al Mighty picked up 5 tackles.

8 tackles for Nick Thomas but Arizona State was destroyed, 44-13 by South Carolina.

Nine tackles and an interception for Ches O'Peake in a 21-9 loss for Maryland to USC. Dex Morgan caught one pass for USC and Anthony Idol picked up 5 tackles.

Clyde Harp picked up 5 tackles but New Orleans lost, 30-6 to the Steelers.

Izulde Jestor and Jace Hunter did not see the field.

Highly efficient game for Rob Nielsen as UCLA beat Notre Dame 38-17. Nielsen was 21-24 for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns. David Gonzalez caught 6 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Deion Prescott sat out the game for Notre Dame with an injury. He'll be back next week. Mike Ritschel picked up four tackles.

Texas A&M defeated Pitt, 24-12 in a battle featuring four FOFCers. Dave Russ picked up 1.5 sacks for the Aggies in the game. Andrew Foley caught one pass and Al Mighty only made one tackle but did not allow a completed pass to his side of the field all game. Chas Swaggs picked up 3 tackles and only allowed one completed pass.

Dean Hoo was 3 for 3 on field goals as Florida State crushed Lousiana-Monroe, 79-28. Max Power caught one pass for a touchdown.

Solid start for Craig Ingram, 14-21 for 191 yards and a touchdown in a 41-24 Stanford win.

Six tackles and his second interception of the season for Ches O'Peake in a 17-10 Maryland win.

Barry White started fast like has been the case often for him. 16-21 for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 40-0 win over Oklahoma State.

Six tackles for Kuji Chagulia but Temple loses 35-28.

Hopefully Ohio State can make it back to the title game this year. With Darryl getting more playing time if Ohio State gets a rematch with UCLA he'd be sure to knock Nielsen out.

NFL Transactions

Bad news to start the week. The Packers have decided to let go of Jace Hunter so he finds himself looking for a job. We'll watch and see if another team will pick him up. He may need some quarterbacks to go down with an injury or two around the league to find a team.

Brian Butts carried the ball 22 times, but only managed to pick up 29 yards. He made up for it catching the ball though as he caught 8 passes for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 30-27 win.

Craig Ingram wasn't asked to do much as Stanford easily handled Utah State 49-7. Ingram was 10-16 for 196 yards and 1 touchdown.

Not exactly sure what is going on at Notre Dame. Deion Prescott, despite being healthy, did not get the start this week against Michigan. Prescott, despite being the more highly rated quarterback found himself on the bench. We'll keep watching the situation. Notre Dame won the game 24-21 despite Larry McGillicuddy's 26 carry, 105 yard game for Michigan.

Dave Russ picked up another sack, that's 4.5 in 3 games now for the Texas A&M star. Andrew Foley caught 8 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown and Al Mighty picked up 5 tackles in the 59-16 win.

Nick Thomas picked up 12 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown but Arizona State lost again.

Nick Phillips had his best game of the year, 21 carries for 111 and a receiving touchdown but Florida fell to 0-3.

Maury Ott had a monster game as Tulane beat LSU. 2.5 sacks and 8 tackles for a loss. Ott could have a huge year.

No idea why I forgot to mention that. When I was recording the stats that statistic stood out to me more than any. 8 tackles for loss is huge, none of our players have ever come close to achieving that. Looks like you're primed for a massive year.

What kind of offense are they running at FSU? Finally make it up the depth chart to #1 and still only have 3 catches after 3 games and over 150 points scored!! Argh!!!

No worries, as everyone has said, you're doing a fantastic job with this dynasty. My favorite thing about that stat is that he only had 8 tackles, and every single one of them was for negative yardage.

Tulane with the huge game this week.

At Rice, we have yet to even play a game while some schools already have 3 in the books.
