SSG Hockey - Real Time NHL Sim League
www.simsportsglobal.com
I've just posted the application for our SSG NHL Hockey league which will use OOTP Development's Franchise Hockey Manager 2. With the game coming out on Monday, we'll release a league file ASAP and give folks a chance to get things ready for opening night, October 7th, when we'll have our first games simulated. Beyond that, we will follow a real-time daily schedule like all other leagues at SSG. Expect this first season to mirror the 2015-2016 NHL season as closely as possible. We'll definitely look to adjust some rules/settings beyond this first season as the NHL does some wacky things! We'll also likely be expanding, especially if the NHL does so next year as rumored. Please take a look around the SSG website before quickly rushing off an application (it's not first-come-first-serve anyway). We're a unique simulation universe with an already great core of guys in our OOTP baseball league as well as our college and soon pro football leagues. We'll also be added both pro and college basketball once hockey gets off the ground and likely a FIFA league next fall. A truly year-round simulation universe! While I'm very proud of our group of guys and our unique structure and approach, it's understandably not for everyone, so please take a look around. I hope to hear from some of you soon. We've waited a long time for a great hockey sim, and I'm excited to dive into FHM2!

Needs to be exponentially better than the last version just to be a mediocre game. |

Yeah, it was. I never played it, but kept close tabs on it. I know the team has spent two years rebuilding things, and while I'm sure like any other software there will be some hiccups, the word from those who have interacted with it (beta, reviews, etc.) is that it's a completely different game.
Trust me, if it sucks, we won't be using it. This is the plan, and it's the only software outside of EHM 2005 or whatever that would allow for an online league. Plus, I enjoy the community at OOTP far more than the ones I've come across for EHM. Instead of focusing on the issues, I'm trusting that it is stable enough for us to use effectively and that we can play a significant role in helping its future development and success. Just think what OOTP used to look like... |

There is a new EHM, although it's still officially "Early Access" iirc.

I'd be interested if the first one hadn't been the most worthless waste of disc space I've ever allocated.

Fair enough. Keep an eye on the reviews next week, and we'll see. I have no horse in the race, and the last thing I'd want is a league run on bad software.
I'm trusting them this time, so we shall see! |

Thoroughly impressed with FHM2 thus far just doing some simple testing and sims. Very smooth and accurate. Wow, this looks like a ton of fun, and what Cole and others have shared about the game are dead-on accurate.
