Will not Start on Win NT 4.0
I'm on Windows NT 4.0 (latest Service Pack) and having problems with FOF2K1
Error Message: "Failed to Create Empty document." This is the first, and only thing, I see when I try to run the game on Win NT 4.0. I can not get to any part of the game, not even the first menu allowing you to select to start a game or load a game. (Fortunatly I have other machines at my disposal that this game runs on, but the machine I am at most of the time is this NT box.) |

I, too, would like to see NT support since my primary machine is indeed NT...

I came across post in the newsgroups regarding another program giving a person a "Failed to Create Empty document" error and the reasoning was:
****************** "This can happen if the file riched32.dll is corrupt or missing from the following directory: C:\WINNT\system32 on Windows NT Get a copy from from http://solo.abac.com/dllarchive/index.html. ************************** My guess is that the problem still lies with FOF, unless for some reason NT doesn't install the dll in question (and assuming that the game needs it). Note: I just tried moving my riched32.dll to a different folder and then ran the game and it worked (on Win98). So unless the dll is only needed the 1st time the game is run, this post was absolutely worthless [This message has been edited by Lynn Dickey (edited 11-27-2000).] |

My riched32.dll is fine (and is 5.0 instead of the 4.0 version on the website you posted)
But thanks for the offer of assistance. -- Some additional details. The License screen will load, I can license/unlicense the product fine. When I try to run the licensed executable, I get the error message (and the app shuts down), before I get to the Ea.Com FOF2K1 splash screen with all the copyright information. I have it running on a non-NT box and compared the progress which is how I figured out exactly which screen it was trying to get to next. I have this exact same problem. I would really like to have FOF2k1 work on NT because I can't play at work otherwise
