Lions Halt Contreras's Hit Streak
Saturday, September 3rd, 2011: New York right fielder Wilson Contreras knew his hitting streak would end sooner or later. He just would have preferred later. Contreras went 0-for-2 today in the Legends 12-7 victory over the Spring Lions, snapping his 32-game hit streak.

Contreras is hitting .357 for the season with 13 home runs, 94 RBIs and 118 runs scored. He has 198 hits in 554 at-bats and played in 135 games.

As the streak ends for Contreras, that 32 game hitting streak marks the longest streak since Spring's Dennis Norman hit in 34 straight games back in 1991

Martínez Slams 6 Hits for Virginia Beach
Sunday, September 4th, 2011: Miguel Martínez really did a number on the Naps in the Virginia Beach 6-5 victory. Not just anyone can get 6 hits in 6 at-bats. But Miguel Martínez did just that today for the Surf and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.

"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 30-year-old second baseman said after his record-setting performance.

Miguel Martínez doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.

For the year Martínez has hit at a .264 clip with 69 RBIs, 6 home runs and 74 runs scored.

Washington's Pedersen Hammers #300
Sunday, September 18th, 2011: "I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Bernt Pedersen told reporters after he made baseball history today at Memorial Stadium II. The prolific slugger belted home run #300 in the Washington Freedom 9-4 victory over the St Louis Hops.

The standout left fielder collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Pedersen. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"

In his all-time stats Pedersen is hitting .297 with 1873 hits, 301 home runs, 1119 runs scored and 983 RBIs.

Plantana has clinched homefield advantage in the CLCS!

Washington has a magic number of 7

New York and Portland both have magic numbers of 7 as well.

Homer #500 for St Cloud's Palmer
Tuesday, September 27th, 2011: St Cloud shortstop John Palmer blasted himself into an elite group of baseball players. Today he joined the exclusive 500 home run club in the Raindrops 6-3 loss to the St Louis Hops.

"As soon as I hit it, I knew it was gone. I was happy to move on. Now I can go and have some fun. It is a weight lifted off my shoulders," Palmer told the press. He admitted just how much pressure he had been feeling. "Especially every time you'd get out of the hotel, everybody would say, 'Hey, when are you going to hit it?'"

In his milestone game, Palmer went 2 for 4 with 3 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

During his career Palmer has chalked up 2076 hits and a .267 average with 500 home runs and 1412 RBIs.

Final day of the season upcoming. A win clinches homefield advantage for Portland, a loss with a Spring tie forces a 1 game playoff to determine who has homefield advantage

Joo shatters the record for walks in a season that he had just tied last year. The previous record of 196 walks was surpassed this year as Joo walked an amazing 223 times this year!

His batting average fell 66 points this year though, so he did not further break his own record for OBP in a season that he had set last year.

Teng finishes the year with 687 career home runs as he hit only 28 this season. Will he stick around one more year to go for 700 as well as the all time record?

Sadly his career appears to be winding down.

Grats to the playoff teams! Couple nice races we had to get in the playoffs.

Not like I expected anything from this guy but my 4th SP Carlos Olhoa went 0-15 with a 7.42 ERA. YIKES!!!

Congrats to Matt, Kevin, Matt, and Tasan!

If you could Plantana, I'm a little tired of seeing St. Louis up there, so you know...just try to take that into consideration tomorrow!

I guess I cut him at just about the right time. That dude fell off in a hurry.

Oh and fina-frickin-ly broke through. Spring's back in the playoffs!

Congrats you other playoff people. Good luck in your games not against me ;- )

I don't make it to the playoffs often. I have to make it count!

We're happy to be in the playoffs as the end appears near. Our salary for next season is already at $62 million and we're losing 3-4 pitchers. Not having the 1st pick in the draft really hurts your minor leagues over a course of a few seasons.

Our 6th straight playoff appearance and chance for a 3-peat is more than I could have expected when we won 62, 75, 69, 58, 63, 42, and 68 games from 1997 to 2003. I guess the draft can work!
