Hoopsfan is also. I’m FB friends with him if you can’t get him on here.

Just say this. I grew up an Illini fan but went to Arizona. Still, I went to a bunch of games and followed them a ton in the late 80s and 90s if you have questions.

I went to grad school there at the time that Kendall Gill and Steven Bardo were playing hoops. Also Nick Anderson and Kenny Battle. Unfortunately also there the year they lost to effing Dayton in the 1st round. Not as bad as losing to Austin Peay, but still. Dayton?

Grabbed the occasional beer at Kam's and C.O. Daniels, but those were undergrad hangouts. I used to see some of my freshman students there. I am not sure I can give the answer that the OP needs.

Stephen Bardo you say?

Stephen Bardo can go fuck himself.

Norm Grevey Injury Dayton/Illinois NCAA - March 16, 1990 - YouTube

Grevey, team's top 3 shooter, missed the next game as well, where they lost to eventual Final 4 team Arkansas by 2 points.

Not that I'm bitter

Sorry for posting then going AWOL.
A couple Illini reporters began following my son on social media a few weeks ago, then he got a random fan twitter DM asking him questions and said he had read about him on their 24/7 forum and how Illinois was recruiting him....I just was curious what the article said about him.

In the end it didnt matter.

But thanks

Yep, definitely enjoyed that game! Have a slew of thoughts that would probably be interesting to maybe one other person on this forum, but short version is that it is fun to see the team pulling out of what had been a dismal tailspin of a season.

There are quite a few different Illini forums out there. This is the one I normally frequent.
https://www.illinoisloyalty.com/

I'm not paying for a premium membership at 24/7 so I would probably be a little less connected to 2020 recruiting in football at this point in the year. I would likely know the Illini beat writers, and maybe a name or two in the athletic department, but I doubt I'm going to be able to connect too many dots on high school recruiting taking place in SEC country.
