LaRose Top CL Pitcher in September
Wednesday, October 1st, 2149: Noblesville Millers hurler Maurice LaRose was rewarded today with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors. LaRose, 24, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck.

"I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Noblesville starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place."

Things did fall into place for LaRose. In September he took the ball for 35.2 innings while notching 31 strikeouts, a 0.76 ERA and a 5-0 record.

This season LaRose has 21 wins and 4 losses and a 2.41 ERA.

Cortés Earns RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Wednesday, October 1st, 2149: Whether Júlio Cortés stays in Hammersmith beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In September the 27-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-1 record and and an ERA of 1.71. In 42 innings he struck out 32, surrendered 38 hits, 7 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 6 starts last month.

On the season Cortés has a 12-10 record with a 4.08 ERA.

This season in 134 games King is batting .200 with 7 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 52 times.

Nelson Honored by Republic League
Wednesday, October 1st, 2149: Larry Nelson was voted the best newcomer in the Republic League for his solid performance last month.

In September, the Hartford shortstop posted a .408 average while racking up 42 hits, 2 home runs and 11 RBIs.

Nice!

As to the starting pitching, seems I've had two guys having career years in that department all season too.

Romano and Gibson both getting it done.

Hmm, seemed my team finished early. Hopefully that means my pitching got some rest going into the playoffs.

I remember a few years ago, I had a championship team and something like the #2 system. Despite that, it took a long while (my recent trophies) to actually add more hardware to the trophy cabinet.

This is a very tough league.

I'm still very suspect on my #1 system. But I do have some ample starting YOUNG pitching and have a really good 25 year old sitting at AA.

Been a long time for this Noblesville team I think we have the right balance now.

Rafael Torres did what I wanted him to do. He went into the record books. He crossed the magic 500 saves milestone and ended up with 518 Saves and also passed people to end up the closer with the 11th highest saves in FOOL history. He also cost me the season. He has 13 losses an over 5.00 ERA and over .330 OAVG. I so hate what OOTP does to pitchers so often.

But congrats to Rafael and here's hoping you get the hall of fame votes!

I hope his remaining numbers don't totally tank so he can at least be used a little next season if he doesn't already retire.

Let's go to playoffs!

Noblesville Millers - Did the unthinkable this year. They have come in 7th 6 of the last 11 seasons, yet here they are in 1st place. All those #1 picks have hatched. They blew everyone out of the park with 106 wins, the highest in 81 seasons for the Millers. They also haven’t been to the playoffs in 16 seasons, when they came up with a repeat win of the Classic. They look to do that again. Looking for their 8th win.

Baltimore Gothams – They threepeated in 2134-2136 and haven’t won the Classic since. Only two playoff appearances in a decade, to counter the previous decade when they went 8/10 in the playoffs. Looking for their 22nd win.

Ann Arbor Winged Lingeries – The reigning champions and a name we are used to hearing. Surprising that they are only looking for their 7th win. Their third time in 5 years they are division champions. Impressive. Their hitting is better than it has been the past 8 years.

Hartford Harpooners – First time back to the playoffs in 6 years. They are the typical Hartford lineup of dominant bats over ace pitching. Looking for their 19th win. A resurge over their previous 2 5th place finishes back to the top.

Matchups:

Noblesville last clobbered the Ann Arbor in 2132. Baltimore killed both teams (Ann Arbor and Hartford) in back to back seasons of 2126 and 2127. The last time Noblesville met Hartford, they were known as the Boston Settlers (which were different from the Boston Charm) and they used to be an RL team alongside Hartford…and consequently got beat by Hartford when they met.
