On the one hand, I loved the first Incredibles as one of Pixar's best and that's a high bar to clear. On the other hand, I want Pixar to keep working on original IPs and stop redoing old ones. It feels like the company has gone from being the best studio around to churning out cash grabs that are merely pretty good.

The Good Dinosaur has already slipped a year, Inside Out is still slated for 2015, and Dia de los muertos has been on the books for a couple of years but I haven't seen a date attached to it. That's 3 potential new movies but 2 have already had issues and 0 are slated for release this year. We've also now had 3 sequels out of the last 4 movies and now 3 more have been announced (Incredibles, Cars, and Finding Nemo). SI

Animation seems to have giant delays more often than not so I try not to look at those as bad signs, especially since pixar delays are usually to fix story problems . Im looking forward to all 3 of those. |

Believe me- there isn't a studio I hold in higher regard. I hope I'm wrong. I'm just getting a bit cynical about their recent history after being acquired by Disney both from the brain drain and also merchandising emphasis. SI

Unlike some of the other sequels, the original at least left me wanting more.
Finding Nemo and Cars were great stand alone movies. I agree with the sentiment that those stories have been told and additional movies are cash grabs. |

this is from an article in the wall street journal before Cars 2 was even released:
Disney says "Cars 2" is on track to sell more tie-in goods than any single previous film, surpassing by a wide margin the current record holder, "Toy Story 3," which last year sold $2.8 billion of merchandise. That's on top of the average $2 billion of "Cars" merchandise sold annually since 2006. |

Yeah, Cars basically prints money and pays a large portion of the riskier films they make.

I remember when i was a kid and all i did was wish they would make more movies from Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Now everything is part 1 of a 3 part trilogy with an 8 part backstory and 3-7 side stories. Enough already.
