Price Slams Milestone Homer
Monday, August 5th, 2097: Joseph Price circled the bases and raised his arm in triumph. He had finally hit his 300th home run. It was a homer for a lot of people: himself; his teammates past and present; his former managers and coaches; and especially his family, who sat near the plate cheering his every at-bat during the past few games.

Price spoke with BNN and said, "I knew number 300 would come sooner or later. I had to keep reminding myself, 'Relax, relax, just let it happen, let it happen.' And it finally did."

His milestone homer came in the Chico Rebels 4-2 win over the Hartford Harpooners. Price went 2 for 5 in the game, scored 2 runs, and batted in 3.

Lifetime Price has hit for a .277 average and totaled 1648 hits, 301 home runs and 935 RBIs.

Gil Collects Cycle
Tuesday, August 6th, 2097: It was a special day for Jorge Gil at Ballpark of Colorado -- the Hammersmith center fielder hit for the cycle -- getting every type of hit possible. The 35-year-old Gil racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name mentioned in the record book. For the game he was 4-5 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored.

But all that didn't win the ballgame as the Rancheros took home the victory 14-8.
In the words of the Colorado manager, "He hit everything we threw. There was just no getting him out today."

"I'm glad for Jorge," his manager said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."
Speaking to the press after the game, Gil gave the key for his record-setting day. "I just got some good pitches to hit."

J. Gil doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off L. Trejo in the 9th.

Currently Gil has 7 home runs and a .266 batting average.

Yamamoto Is August's Top Starter
Sunday, September 1st, 2097: August's #1 hurler was Mitsuhide Yamamoto of Colorado. He gunned down Republic League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Rancheros star piled up 5 wins and 1 loss to take the honor.

The 28-year-old Yamamoto added 32 strikeouts in 48.2 innings and 2 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.48 ERA. Other clubs hit .246 against him.

On the season Yamamoto has a 12-6 record with a 2.99 ERA.

Cardenas Tabbed as August's Starter of the Month
Sunday, September 1st, 2097: Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 5-1 with a 1.43 ERA, Miguel Cardenas was selected as August's Continental League Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Apex starter as he left the clubhouse.

"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."

Miguel Cardenas definitely contributed to the club. He had 6 starts, throwing 44 innings, striking out 37, and holding the opposition to a .212 average.

In 26 starts this year Cardenas has fashioned a 13-7 record and a 2.01 ERA.

Red-Hot Tokyo Rookie Rated CL's Best
Sunday, September 1st, 2097: What a fantastic August it was for Juan Jose Morán! The Tokyo shortstop battered Continental League hurlers for a .403 batting average as he easily claimed the Rookie of the Month Award.

He tallied no home runs, 6 RBIs and 10 runs scored in the month-long assault. Morán also had 8 walks for a .460 on-base percentage.

If he continues to outpace the rookie class like this, he could very well be the 2097 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner.

Hogeda at His Best, Whips Marlboros
Monday, September 2nd, 2097: The Toronto Marlboros struggled at the plate today against Rancheros hurler Jorge Hogeda, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete game 6-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Marlboros skipper in his postgame comments.

"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Hogeda finished the game with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Jorge made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

To date this season Hogeda is 9-10 with 26 starts and an ERA of 4.29 with 112 strikeouts in 167.2 innings.

Lin Tosses No-Hitter Against Rebels
Saturday, September 14th, 2097: Wen-huan Lin of the Marlboros was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew... he was one out from a no-hitter. He froze... for a couple of seconds he didn't move.

"This hitter is the last one," Lin told himself. Then he collected himself and finished one of his greatest performances ever.

The Toronto hurler no-hit the Chico Rebels 5-0 at Rebels Ballpark, finishing with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts, facing only 29 batters.

Lin admitted to the press, "I knew from the fifth inning on it was a no-hitter, but really didn't worry about it until the last out. I just wanted to win the game until then... then I wanted the no-hitter, too."

In 28 starts this year Lin has crafted a 9-11 record and a 5.11 ERA.

Congrats to Apex and Hartford, both have clinched homefield advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Georgia has also clinched a playoff spot.

Hammersmith has a magic number of 5 for the playoffs with Ann Arbor and Colorado still both mathematically alive
