What to Watch Instantly on Netflix? (and now all streaming services)

Moribito Series. Each episode comes across as being far too short(20 minutes really), but I like the series.

I just started a 30-day trial of the streaming only service. I see some older shows that I wouldn't mind revisiting, but do you really feel it is a good value for what will be $8/month? "Newer" shows like The Shield & The Wire don't appear to be available for streaming. I read they were negotiating with the networks to get more current content. I don't know - maybe I should wait for that to happen. Your thoughts?

I personally don't find enough stuff to stream that would make me happy paying $8 a month just for those titles. Their streaming only catalog is pretty large but mostly older stuff. (With the exception of Starz play and such).

I personally enjoy using the streaming ability to catch up on some older movies I missed some how. For instance lately I've been catching up on some older Clint Eastwood movies that I had never seen. Those usually take a back seat for me though when I have something newer available though.

I enjoyed "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". It is subtitled though. And a bit rough to watch at times.

Today a new documentary was released on both DVD and Netflix's Instant Streaming. The film is Restrepo and it is filmed by Sebastian Junger. It documents the Korengal Valley and the American soldiers there in Afghanistan. His book, WAR , was phenomenal and I have pretty high hopes for this documentary.

This is the same region that the recent Medal of Honor recipient was stationed. He was not in the documentary, but the battle is highlighted (his valor not mentioned).

Really so many choices - the first four seasons of the new Dr Who are there, very good stuff if you are into sci-fi. I am currently watching Survivors, a British series about surviving after a worldwide plague. There are also a lot of good documentaries.

I saw a couple of these on BBCA, looked good, but seemed like something I'd only enjoy if I saw it from the beginning. Now that it's on netflix I'll certainly put it in the queue.

I watches this series when it first came on BBCA...pretty good stuff. Hopefully we'll have a second season (or whatever the messed up BBC equivalent is) soon...

if you like historical dramas, The Pillars of the Earth was awesome..8 hour mini series set in 12th century england.

Thank you, sir...I must have missed the second season completely. Of course, with only six episodes, I guess it is easy to.

Watched a documentary called 'Crossing the Line'. It covers the story of a U.S. soldier who defected to North Korea in the 1960s. Pretty interesting stuff.

I really liked the documentary 180 South - it's about some guys that head south on a long trek by sea to Patagonia to surf and climb a mountain - also some nice interviews with the guys who inspired them by doing the same thing in 1968. Some really, really beautiful cinematography.

Think it was mentioned before, but I watched Restrepo and would also highly recommend it. Excellent look at warfare from the front lines.

Watched 'Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows' last night. It's a documentary from 1998. Pretty interesting look behind the scenes of pro wrestling.

I agree, I got a kick out of it. Nothing jaw dropping there, but it was a good show.

I'll also pimp "10 Items or Less". The first few episodes aren't that great, but as it goes on the cast blends better and the show gets funnier. Similar to the Office and Parks and Rec. And quite a bit of the show is simply improvisation.

The Wife and I just watched season 1 and it was FANTASTIC. Seriously one of the best shows I've seen in awhile.

I see season 2 is up there too, so we'll catch that soon.

Yeah I just started watching this last week and am loving it. I think it helps that I haven't watched SNL the last 10 or so years so I find Amy Poehler's character hilarious and don't carry any of the hatred baggage of what she was like on SNL. (Same with Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan on 30 Rock, caught all 5 seasons of that show on Netflix instant as well)

Thanks for the tip. I just watched season one today. I found it to basically be "The Office" set in a local government office. Not too bad.

Parks and Recreation is on my list. Currently, I'm loving that all of The Larry Sanders Show is on Instant, especially because I was too young to catch it on HBO when it was first on and they only recently released it all to DVD.

I am watching The Larry Sanders Show. It helped set the bar for shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Great writing, and just a very cool show. I was 12 when it started to air, and I didn't have HBO...so I'm happy to be able to see it now.

I just watched this. Really good stuff. I found the soundtrack on Amazon and plan on purchasing that as well.
