Washington Wizards (NBA 2K8)

Inspired by EF27's dynasty I've decided to start my own now that opening day has passed and rosters are set. I'll be running with the Wizards, who should be a young, high scoring team.

I'll be playing 12 minute quarters with 12 minute simmed games as well, on the All-Star level with some slider tweaks. I'm not sure how many games I'll be playing versus simming, but I try to play as many as possible, but will sim to end in blowouts on either side.

Our owner is Alex Hartman, and his focus right now is on me getting an overall improvement out of my team.

My salary figure is at $79.71 million, with the league cap at $55.63 million, and the threshold at $67.87 million. Basically we have no money to spend.

We're lead by head coach Eddie Jordan, who is on a 4 year contract making $3 million per year.

I'll be starting off with the roster/rotation the Wizards have started off the season with, which means I will be keeping Etan Thomas out for the season since he had heart surgery.

Washington Wizards 2007-2008 Roster:

PG Gilbert Arenas (96) 1 year remaining with a player option. 40 min. per game.
SG DeShawn Stevenson (78) 4 years remaining. 25 minutes per game.
SF Caron Butler (87) 4 years remaining. 40 mins. per game.
PF Antawn Jamison (87) 1 year remaining. 38 min. per game.
C Brendan Haywood (77) 3 years remaining. 30 min. per game.

PF Darius Songaila (77) 3 years remaining with a player option. 21 min. per game.
PG Antonio Daniels (78) 3 years remaining. 15 min per game.
SG Roger Mason (73) 2 years remaining. 11 min. per game.
PF Andray Blatche (74) 5 years remaining. 9 min. per game.
SG Nick Young (77) 3 years remaining with a team option. 7 min. per game.
SF Dominic McGuire (71) 4 years remaining. 4 min. per game.

C Oleksiy Pecherov (65) 3 years remaining with a team option. Reserve.
C Etan Thomas (77) 3 years remaining. Out for the season.

That's about how the Wiz have ran things in their 3 games thus far. I'm sure I'll be making changes to it as we go along. I'm a fan of rookies Young and McGuire so their playing time could jump depending on how they do. Songalia and Mason would probably be reduced to lesser roles.

Halloween was not a treat for the Wizards on opening night, as they fell to Indiana, 90-78. Jermaine O'Neal scored 26 points to go along with 19 rebounds to lead the Pacers. Indiana led from early in the 1st quarter and Washington could not catch up. Jamaal Tinsley ran the offense perfectly and found many holes in a porous Washington defense. Tinsley finished with 22 points and 8 assists.

Washington was ice cold from the field for much of the game, shooting just 32% on the night, including an abysmal 1/18 from beyond the arc. They did make the game interesting late, after being down by as many as 18, they went on a 17-5 run to pull to within 5 with 2 minutes remaining. O'Neal and company were just too much as they pulled further ahead and Washington missed their last 8 attempts from the field.

Washington

Arenas: 25 points (8/25 shooting), 8 rebounds, 8 assists
Stevenson: 11 points
Butler: 10 points, 6 rebounds
Jamison: 10 points, 10 rebounds

Indiana

O'Neal: 26 points, 19 rebounds, 1 block
Tinsley: 22 points, 8 assists
Murphy: 13 points, 15 rebounds
Granger: 10 points

Washington shot 32%, Indiana 39%
Washington was 1/18 (5%) from 3, Indiana 1/9 (11%)
Washington was 23/35 (65%) on FT, Indiana 21/31 (67%)
Indiana outrebounded Washington 55-50, including 11-8 on the offensive glass

The Wizards falter again, this time losing to the Celtics, 93-87. The Wizards trailed by 15 at half time before crawling back in the second half, but it was not enough once again.

Paul Pierce led the charge for the Celtics, scoring 33.

Washington

Arenas: 20 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists
Butler: 15 points, 4 rebounds
Jamison: 15 points, 6 rebounds
Songaila: 10 points, 4 rebounds

Boston

Pierce: 33 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists
Garnett: 14 points, 10 rebounds
Davis: 12 points, 5 rebounds

November 3rd, 2007

The Wizards finally get off the losing side, dominating for 3 and a half quarters against Orlando, 97-89.

Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison each chipped in 29 for Washington, while Gilbert Arenas fell just shy of a triple double.

Washington

Butler: 29 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals
Jamison: 29 points, 13 rebounds
Arenas: 17 points, 8 rebounds, 14 assists

We made some changes to our rotation after the Magic game. Antonio Daniels, Nick Young, and Dominic McGuire are going to pick up some minutes at the expense of Songaila, Blatche, and Mason.
