2022 Midterms Prediction Game
We usually do this, so I figure I'd start a thread...
Predict the following Senate races Group 1 - 1 pt for picking the winner. No bonus pts GA: PA: NV: AZ: Group 2 - 1 pt for picking the winner, 1 bonus pt if you correctly pick the underdog (Bolduc, Barnes, Beasley, Ryan) NH: WI: NC: OH: Group 3 - 1 pt for picking the winner, 2 bonus pts if you correctly pick the underdog (O'Dea, Smiley, Demings, Franken, McMullin) CO: WA: FL: IA: UT: House -Predict how many seats the GOP will gain. If you think Dems will gain, predict a negative number. You will lose a pt for every seat you are off. GOP House Gain:

Seems like you start a new item every couple of years. The rule here is no new items until your last one has 40,000 replies. It's just cluttering the board if you do this so frequently.
One exception, though. You could do a "hot or not: Patty Murray", and tie that in with the bonus points. Then you'd be OK. My wife and I are doing something like this, only we printed out all 71 governor and senate races, plus a couple of house races. Obviously, 50 or so aren't going to get a second's thought, but it's good to know who's who around the country. I ended up with +1 R in the Senate, with Georgia going into overtime. If I had to call the House, I'd say +35-40. But we're not doing that, because it'll be a month before we have the final number. |

Cortez Masto will win in Nevada, and it would be a shocking upset to me if she lost. In WI, it unfortunately looks like Johnson will get re-elected. Barnes hasn't run a great campaign IMO, and there's a lot of deep red in this state.

OK. I'll give this a try.
Group 1 - 1 pt for picking the winner. No bonus pts GA: Walker (but if he doesn't clear 50%, and I think it'll be close, but no cigar, it's a different race next month) PA: Oz (the debate was simply too painful to watch for late deciders) NV: Laxalt (Sabato makes a good case for the incumbent, but Nevada's not that naturally blue, yet) AZ: Kelly (Arizona isn't that red and Masters is off-putting) Group 2 - 1 pt for picking the winner, 1 bonus pt if you correctly pick the underdog (Bolduc, Barnes, Beasley, Ryan) Chalk time - I don't see any of these as all that close in the end NH: Hassan WI: Johnson NC: Budd OH: Vance (by low double-digits - Ryan has run an awful campaign here) Group 3 - 1 pt for picking the winner, 2 bonus pts if you correctly pick the underdog (O'Dea, Smiley, Demings, Franken, McMullin) More chalk, more double-digit wins. CO: Bennet WA: Murray (though probably not hot) FL: Rubio IA: Grassley UT: Lee House -Predict how many seats the GOP will gain. If you think Dems will gain, predict a negative number. You will lose a pt for every seat you are off. GOP House Gain: +36 (again, this gets scored a long time from now). |

JPhillips almost certain to win just due to the House score.

I thought people would take out their frustrations on names they didn't know as well, but that didn't happen. Missed the house as badly as I've ever missed one of these.

This may be my first kinda right prediction. I really wish McMullin could have taken out that ass Lee, though.
