I said 7 AM because if I'm there, it is usually because I'm on business or travelling. If I'm on vacation, I don't leave a wake up call. I thought I was going late for 7 AM

Most business trips I've been on or talked with people about normally don;t require early rising, and anything other than business its a no brainer to sleep in as long as you can and still check out on time, so I went with 9am. |

Good god that was brutal. Brown, really? I thought Harvard or Yale was a shoe-in there.

I don't know how the hell I pulled this win out of my ass. Those questions were pretty tough.
I feel as awesome as 10 Brian Sipe's and 10 Todd Blackledge's put together.

Brown is because of Rhode Island, but I said Dartmouth. I don't know how anyone could think wins are the least important stat. The point of the game is to win games.

Do you guys really get wake up calls? I was thinking way too far outside the box with my "none" answer.
I think Brown is just probably the least prestitigous of the IVYs, that's why I went with it. |

i want to work where you work. almost every business trip i'm on requires a 6am wakeup call or earlier. usually because i still need to write some presentation before the 8am meetings begin.

I thought Cornell had the rep as the worst Ivy League school.
And I should have gone with instinct and OJ. Ah well. |

Nice, swift work, Sublime.
I'll start thinking up some questions now, and aim to have the post up tomorrow evening, after I get home from work, and before I start drinking heavily.

I chose Princeton cuz who the hell wants to live in New Jersey? I thought about Brown as the least well-known Ivy, but didn't think that would translate to least enjoyable. And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who considered using kilometers per hour for the autobahn.

For the autobahn answer, did stupid pick 100 because it is a nice, round number? If you drive that on the unrestricted sections, you'll get your ass run over. Here is a pic I took while driving on the autobahn in a Mercedes SLK 2.0. That was the fastest the little engine could go. As you can see, there are still plenty of revs left until redline, but the engine didn't have enough torque to push 6th gear any higher. Another time I got a BMW 5 series up to about 140, but I didn't have a camera.

I put K's. I thought about wins, but as a team stat it's the most important one and the question didn't specifically say individual stat.

You'll be fine at 100mph if you stay in the right hand lane. Just don't be the stupid American who thinks you need to be in the fast lane and it shouldn't be an issue... And yes, Stupid LOVES round numbers. That's why I went with 100.

It would just end up being a bunch of questions about how hot he thinks DeTox is. EDIT: Or vice versa. I can't tell who the top is in that relationship. EDIT 2: Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Wins the most unimportant sta? Really? More unimportant then Holds? Holds is a made up stat that agents use to get crappy relievers more money.

Hmm, Columbia was the only school not mentioned by anyone. I wonder if it is because people wouldn't mind going there or because they forgot that it was actually in the Ivy League?

Wins are utterly silly. You can pitch 7 shutout innings and not get the win, you can pitch to 1 batter and get the win, you can get shelled all night and get the win, the list goes on. |

I like it as a simple, casual stat. If I'm watching a random baseball game on Tuesday night, if I see the starter is 7-1, I'm thinking he's off to a good start. I don't always feel like breaking out baseballreference.com and calculator and going any further than that. The same way I know that a .300 hitter is pretty good. I said saves, because any jerk can get a bunch of saves. Getting a win, at least for a starter, is far more impressive (usually). |

That may have been my biggest screw up in IWS history. Looking back, I can't believe I went with a :30 answer.

OJ Simpson was NOT the best athlete to come out of USC, Marcus Allen could run circles around OJ.
My primary reasoning for 9am is because of most of my trips ending on a sunday and wanting to sleep as late as possible and still check out. As for my meetings/business trips we always scheduled our meetings for 1pm or later so we had the morning to prepare any last minute stuff. And frankly, if you're still writing/preparing presentations 2 hours before your meeting you're pretty well fucked anyway. =) was a fun return to stupid is as stupid chooses. |

I think the thinking is, if you pitch for say the Pirates, you will not have many wins regardless of how good you are, where as if you pitch for the Yankees you should always in theory have more wins. there have been many sub .500 pitchers with sub 3.0 eras and vice versa. The wins do not tell you much until you look into run support etc. As for the hotel wake up question, I have learned that I business travel much different than many here. If I traveled for a single business meeting it would either be jet in red eye out or drive in drive out. When I travel for business and stay overnight it is because it is an area that is impractical to travel to and back and see all my clients there. So I will go out late the night before get up and be at my first stop when the customer arrives (usually 8 at the latest) fill my day up and take off after close that night. My honest wake up call would always be 5A...but I backed it up to be more popular, still seems like I was earlier than sme, ony question I didnt get #1 I believe. |
