effects of not doubleing receivers?

I'm curious what would happen if your db's were all like 80 or above in coverage so you never doubled an opponents wr's or set it to like 10 for each?

Would this improve your defense significantly by freeing up the guy that would be doubling the wideout to support run defense or be free to help out in coverage as needed but not by design?

I ask as I have two real good bump guys that once inside the three I run b&r about 97% with doubling set to 0 for both receivers. Makes me wonder if you had man to man guys like this and used it most of the time.

Anyone tried this? What were the results?
