Spamalot was great to see but the music doesn't transcend to out of the theater for me. I enjoy listening to them over and over, so while Spamalot was a TON of fun, I can't put it near the top of my list.
Do many of you see shows in Vegas as well....for us Vegas trips always include two or three shows (and only the Broadway variety). Nogram |

Guess there's not a better thread for this. I DVR'd the other night when PBS was showing the filming of the Melbourne production of "Love Never Dies" (Andrew Lloyd Weber's sequel to Phantom). It's...well I dunno how I feel about it yet (not finished yet).

I've only watched one episode, but I've listened to Buffy: The Musical countless times. A girlfriend introduced me to Les Mis, so that's my favorite real musical. Will likely go see the movie when it comes out.

Having only visited NYC a few times, most of the musicals I've seen are more old school, those that have gone on tour elsewhere. Haven't, for example, seen Rent or Wicked, but I've seen a lot of the classics - Phantom, Cats, Joseph, Oklahoma, etc.
And in that regard, it's simple: There's Les Mis ... and then everything else in a far, distant second. Les Mis done with full set and production is un-freakin-belieavable. Honorable Mention to Topol's film version of Fiddler on the Roof, which is mostly funny, emotional, amazing, but does have a few slow, dragging spots, making it feel a bit long. And yes, in defiance of all things man card, I have the soundtracks to Les Mis and Fiddler in my CD rotation.

Mine is Dr Horrible by a country mile although I also like a lot of others including Mary Poppins, Wicked, My Fair Lady.
My wife is seriously 'Wicked' mad - she's seen it over a dozen times and has related tattoo's to the show .... |

I read this title and didn't remember posting in this thread but it had the little icon that showed I had. I was hoping my answer was the South Park movie and it was

Just took the little lady to see Wicked about a week ago, and was pretty much blown away by every aspect of the production.

Going to NYC tomorrow to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. Heading to see Avenue Q, really excited for it. Seeing it off broadway so will be a smaller theater. Hope it compares to Book of Mormon.

Just saw this thread for the first time, but it's a crime against humanity that Phantom was only mentioned once and unenthusiastically. If all you know of it is the one with Gerard Butler and Minnie Driver, I weep for your soul. The 25th anniversary version is an annual(and sometimes more often) must-watch for me. Les Mis is very good. It's not Phantom good though.

I have seen Phantom many times, it's good, but not nearly at the top of my list. Les Mis I am actually seeing again tonight, one of my favorites and have also seen many times. But would say Miss Saigon, Hamilton, and Jekyll & Hyde are up there with it. |

A summer or two ago my father, daughter and I went to Million Dollar Quartet, which was pretty well done. My daughter loved it and she was probably the youngest in the audience by about 31 years (the difference between herself and me).
