OT - I'm With Stupid #67
I’m With Stupid #67
As many of you know, I delight in trying to come up with particularly meddlesome questions for this little contest. Here, I’m probably not exerting my full might – but we’ll try to have fun with these nonetheless. I have selected a literary theme for this set of questions. The Questions 1. Name a well-known character from American literature 2. Name a book you think every American seventh grader ought to read 3. Name a book you think every American tenth grader ought to read 4. Name the greatest American author 5. Name the greatest author who writes/wrote primarily in a language other than English 6. What is your favorite work of fiction? A minor hint for those who may not be familiar – an American seventh grader is usually 12-13 years old, and a tenth grader usually 15-16 years old. Hope that’s helpful. Hall of Heroes Ahbrady - IWS#15, IWS#41 Airhog - IWS#1 Albionmoonlight - IWS#30, IWS#50 Anxiety - IWS#49 Archer219 - IWS#18 Ardent Enthausiast - IWS#6 Barkeep49 - IWS#62 Bbor - IWS#23, IWS#26 BishopMVP - IWS#36 Blade - IWS#13 Bryce - IWS#40, IWS#53 Buccaneer - IWS#47 Bsak16 - IWS#6, IWS#9, IWS#17 cartman - IWS#48 Chief Rum - IWS#45, IWS#56 Cornhuskerly - IWS#46 Crim - IWS#57 Cthomer5000 - IWS#54 Cuervo72 - IWS#27, IWS#38 Desert Dweller - IWS#6 Digamma - IWS#14 EagleEye11 - IWS#54 EagleFan - IWS#41 gold101 - IWS #63 GoSeahawks - IWS #64 Hammer755 - IWS#38 HeavyReign - IWS#23 Henry296 - IWS#12 HornedFrogPurple - IWS#10 JeeberD - IWS#44, IWS #52, IWS #61 Joe Canadian - IWS#29 John Lynch - IWS#10 Maple Leafs - IWS#34 Marmel - IWS#8 Masked - IWS#22, IWS#30, IWS#31, IWS#33 MIJB#19 - IWS#59 Msf518 - IWS#11, IWS#15, IWS#35, IWS#39 Neuqua - IWS#19 NoMyths - IWS#46 Noop - IWS#46 Nothingman - IWS#6, IWS#45 Panerd - IWS#3 Pjstp20 - IWS#42 Primelord - IWS#11 QuikSand - IWS#9, IWS#16, IWS#18, IWS#24, IWS#32, IWS#58, IWS #66 Qwikshot - IWS#5 Ramzavail - IWS#53 RendeR - IWS#6 RonnieDobbs - IWS#37 RPI-Fan - IWS#9 Samdari - IWS#21 ScottVib - IWS#9 SplitPersonality1 - IWS#4 Sterlingice - IWS#28, IWS#31, IWS#35, IWS#51 Sublime - IWS#25 Swaggs - IWS#2, IWS#35 Tasan - IWS #65 Tredwel - IWS#6, IWS#9, IWS#20, IWS#43 TRO - IWS#7, IWS#9, IWS#12 tucker342 - IWS#60 Vince - IWS#37, IWS#46, IWS#62 Wheels - IWS#55 The Rules The rules are the same as all FOFC "I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game’s founding fathers. The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins. No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this game, QuikSand. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and inarguable. Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However... Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "name a color of the rainbow," and you and four other people responded "black" - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question. Please submit entries via PM no later than noon QDT on Friday, May 15th. Last edited by QuikSand : 05-12-2004 at 11:55 AM. |

Very good questions. I know my responses, but I can't imagine what Stupid might say.

Mrs. Q deserves much of the credit for the questions... including #2 and #3, my favorites of the batch.
However, she talked me out of my personal favorite... which I may launch as a separate "addendum" in another thread. (She told me it was stupid... I yielded to her opinion, but still think it would have gotten some interesting answers) |

[smarmy, condescending tone] ]Yes, you have until 2009. [/asshat]
Oh, wait... I edited to give you another day and forgot to change the date. That's the ticket... And if you aren't used to seeing my mistakes, you are letting an awful lof of typos get by... I've probably mis-typed more words here than many people have spelled correctly. Last edited by QuikSand : 05-14-2004 at 07:57 AM. |

sent, from the English teacher.
I'll probably finish last. Shorty got into my head with the "I don't know any foreign authors" comment. |

Looks like we have close to 30 entries, a pleasant surprise given the theme. It will be a little while before I can get to the tabulation -- I will accept entries that come in any time before I start entering data.
Keep 'em coming... |
