So this proves... what, that both feet were not on the ground for the entire play?

It proves someone took a picture of his feet.

I think the photos the Cards need to look at is why number 10 wasn't covered for most of that game winning drive.

Pumpy, I think the one you posted looks very photoshopped.

This is true. A 48-0 scoreline would have been far less controversial.

Not really. The original photo comes from Will Leitch at deadspin, who's a Cards fan and was just making a joke.

More examination of Holmes' winning TD catch

There's the best link...in case anybody wants to look for themselves. It looks awfully damn close on pic #10, but the rest are inconclusive because you don't know when he actually caught the ball.

You serious Clark?

It's a shame Tampa had a couple inches of red air floating above the end zone.

Well, in the second pic, you can see his left foot is definitely on the ground...about 2-3 feet from the back of the endzone. His right foot however, if it really is down, is somehow touching the very back of the endzone where the chalk meets the red paint. This makes Santonio Holmes either very flexible, or a magician.

Or a function of the direction that the picture is being taken from. Either one of the 3.

Thank god someone else can understand geometry and spacial physics =)

I've been biting my tongue hoping I wasn't the only one seeing that point.

In fairness, it was ruled a catch and th replays they had access to simply couldn't show them this in that much detail.

But at least we now know it wasn't a catch and the steelers should have lost

LOL

At the distance that camera is sitting at (far end zone at best, media level more likely) the angle is pretty minimal and isn't going to distort that view by that much distance.

That's what is making people think his foot is down. It's a bit of an illusion since the end of his foot is even with where the out of bounds line begins, making it look like the foot is touching the ground. But you're right, it isn't. Since the feet are right on top of each other, they would have to be touching on the same "plane" from the side perspective, and they don't look like they are.

But he's also in the process of bringing the ball to his body in the second photo, which means he already had control of the ball long enough to start to bring it in, so the photo doesn't prove anything. Had the picture been taken a half second earlier, considering how close the end of the foot is to the ground, I think we'd have a photo of two feet touching with the ball in Homles outstretched hands. But that's just conjecture...

Huh? This is 3D, not 2D. Depth perception can be real tricky but it's apparent that his right foot is behind the left foot and touching the grass.

Actually this IS 2d, its a photo and because its a photo geometry tells us where things are with respect to depth within the photo. And if his toe is touching the grass why can we see the entire toe? you can't see the left one

If his toe were down at this point (the photo in this thread) we couldn't see the red grass that is directly in front of that pylon which is a good 3+ feet from the spot of Holme's toes.
