Alexander Wins Best Bat Award in April
Friday, May 1st, 2201 Kenny Alexander received the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month. "He might be getting older," Noblesville's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Kenny's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field." To win the honor Alexander put up a .375 batting average, 4 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 11 times in April. Kobayashi Picks Up Best RL Batter Honors for April Friday, May 1st, 2201 Naizen Kobayashi put his mark on the Republic League this April by putting together some award-winning numbers. Atlanta's center fielder took home the Batter of the Month award on the strength of his .396 batting average. He tacked up 40 hits, 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |

Best Starter Chosen by Continental League
Friday, May 1st, 2201 The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Continental League trophy went to Apex hurler, David Venegas. During the month, Venegas was impressive with a 0.68 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 39.2 innings he struck out 35 and gave up 27 hits and 5 walks. April's Starter of the Month Goes to Murakami Friday, May 1st, 2201 The best pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Tomohiko Murakami of the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing April with a standout 4-0 record and 2.76 ERA. The Winged Lingerines hurler made 6 starts and surrendered 36 hits in 42.1 innings. He struck out 31 and walked 7. |

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, May 1st, 2201 A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Armando Vásquez just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April. Over the past month the 25-year-old shortstop for Brooklyn hit .298 with 25 hits, 1 home run and 9 runs batted in. He also logged 4 walks and compiled a .330 on-base percentage. RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month Friday, May 1st, 2201 Esteban Rivera earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Hammersmith right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Rivera hit .370 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. |

Great May Gets Wilson CL Best Hitter Award
Monday, June 1st, 2201 When Bryant Wilson stepped up to the plate in May, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Continental League Batter of the Month award. The young Napa Valley right fielder posted a .352 batting average with 9 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 20 runs. Wilson also worked pitchers for 16 walks to post a .440 on-base percentage. To date, Wilson has collected 70 hits for a .338 average. He has posted 14 home runs, scored 29 runs and driven in 35 runs. RL Announces Outstanding Batter Award Monday, June 1st, 2201 Bobby Ward picked up the top batter prize in the Republic League for May. The Atlanta right fielder hit .333 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He also drew 9 walks to post an OBP of .382. In the current season, Ward has put up a .290 batting average with 65 hits, 12 home runs, 35 runs batted in and scored 40 runs. |

CL Announces Best Pitcher for May
Monday, June 1st, 2201 Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Bartolo Chávez still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 32-year-old starter for Napa Valley was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. He collected 4 wins and no losses with 30 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.43 ERA in 37.2 innings of work. This year Chávez has fashioned a 6-3 mark, 2.21 ERA and pitched 73.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .247 against him and he has logged 50 strikeouts. Cremades Is RL's Best Pitcher in May Monday, June 1st, 2201 José Cremades nailed down May's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Omaha to get a deal done before the 35-year-old becomes a free agent. Cremades seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?" He fashioned a 4-1 record, reeled off 23 strikeouts, worked 42 innings and held batters to a .270 average for the month as he posted a 3.21 ERA. Peralta Voted May's Rookie Award
Monday, June 1st, 2201 Francisco Peralta is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In May the Apex hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .347 average with 26 hits, 1 home run and 9 RBIs. Currently Peralta is batting .258 with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. Arsenault Receives May Rookie Award Monday, June 1st, 2201 Grant Arsenault's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Tokyo center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .347 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs. Arsenault also scored 19 times and drove in 13 runs. This season in 53 games Arsenault is batting .305 with 1 home run, 28 RBIs and has scored 35 times. |

CL Choice for Batter of the Month is Wilson
Wednesday, July 1st, 2201 His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Bryant Wilson of the Napa Valley Winemakers was named the Continental League's best batter in June. June's Best Hurler in CL is Tobías
Wednesday, July 1st, 2201 Juan Tobías took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in June. After all these years playing ball, the 35-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 5-1 for Leduc last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award. He tacked up a 1.93 ERA in his 7 starts, tossing 46.2 innings and striking out 46. This season Tobías has a 10-4 record with a 2.08 ERA. RL Selects García June's #1 Pitcher Wednesday, July 1st, 2201 Jesús García of the Catfish pretty much bewildered opposing batters in June and was honored as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. The Tokyo starter sparkled last month with a 4-0 record and 1.36 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 39.2 innings and had 31 strikeouts. This year García has a 9-4 record and a 3.41 ERA. |

Newcomer Honored by Continental League
Wednesday, July 1st, 2201 Youngster Armando Vásquez emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Brooklyn deserved the honor, batting .326 with 3 home runs and 22 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Vásquez enjoy the limelight. This year Vásquez is batting .297 with 4 home runs. Winemakers Arribalzaga Wins CL Best Hurler Honor
Saturday, August 1st, 2201 José Arribalzaga is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for July. He made 12 relief appearances for Napa Valley last month, throwing 13.1 innings and collecting 5 saves, a 4-1 record, 14 strikeouts and a 1.35 ERA. This season Arribalzaga has logged 50 relief appearances, 50.1 IP, 45 strikeouts, and a 2.68 ERA. His W-L mark is 5 wins and 4 losses, and he has 26 saves. Republic League Selects #1 Starter in July Saturday, August 1st, 2201 As Mario Enríquez hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Toronto once his contract is up at the end of the season. Enríquez put pressure on the Marlboros to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.62 over 33.1 innings last month. Saturday, August 1st, 2201 For the last thirty days he outperformed all the other newcomers in the Continental League. So it was no surprise that Halifax's first baseman Alberto Herrera took the Rookie of the Month honors today. In July he hit .282 as he ran up some impressive offensive numbers. In 24 games he collected 20 hits, 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Herrera is presently hitting at a .214 pace with 8 home runs and 46 RBIs. He has played in 107 games and scored 34 times. Newcomer of the Month Picked Saturday, August 1st, 2201 Grant Arsenault made quite a few headlines in July. The 23-year-old earned Rookie of the Month recognition in the Republic League by putting up a strong numbers from start to finish. Last month he compiled a .415 average with 39 hits, no home runs, 15 RBIs and 21 runs scored. For the year Arsenault has hit .331 with 1 home run, 55 RBIs and scored 71 runs. |

Kenny Alexander is August's #1 Hitter in CL
Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 When guys like Noblesville's Kenny Alexander win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive August, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 45 hits in 118 at-bats. The veteran left fielder hit for a .381 batting average and collected 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Currently Alexander is hitting .321 and has collected 31 home runs, 76 RBIs and scored 77 times, while playing in 135 games. August's Premier Batter Announced Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 It's a time for celebration in Tokyo as Lúcio Moreno has just walked away with August's Republic League Batter of the Month award. He socked 39 hits in 105 at-bats to put up a .371 batting average, 7 home runs, 26 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Moreno on the season is batting .316 with 26 home runs. His totals include 117 RBIs and 84 runs scored. He has played in 135 games. |

Higgins Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 Veteran Jared Higgins put together quite a successful stretch in August for the Cleveland Cyclones, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award. Higgins racked up a 3-0 record in 7 starts, posting a 0.96 ERA over 37.1 innings and striking out 31. This year Higgins has compiled a 10-7 mark with a 2.23 ERA. RL Starter of the Month Goes to Addis Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 Elliott Addis's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 3-0 in August, the 33-year-old Ann Arbor hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 26 in 37 innings, logged an ERA of 1.70 and allowed opponents to hit .203 against him. His record for the year is 14-5 in 27 starts and Addis has a 2.72 ERA. |

Halifax Newcomer August's Best Rookie
Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 Alberto Herrera of the Halifax Winter Wolves just ended a sensational month, but it didn't end there. He topped it off with the Continental League Rookie of the Month award. The talented first baseman took the honor in August by hitting .317 in 26 games, racking up 26 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored. This year Herrera is batting .234 with 11 home runs. August's Best RL Rookie Named Tuesday, September 1st, 2201 The standout Republic League rookie in August was Tokyo's center fielder Grant Arsenault. Last month he played in 27 games and hit .302 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 home run. Arsenault also scored 19 times and drove in 9 runs. In his season totals, Arsenault has 2 home runs, .325 BA, .412 OBP, 64 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has played in 130 games. |
