Vásquez Is CL's #1 Rookie

The Continental League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award has been given to Armando Vásquez of the Brooklyn Brownstones.

In the 2201 season the 25-year-old shortstop played in 147 games, recording a .271 batting average with 10 home runs, 63 RBIs and 45 runs scored.


Arsenault Best Rookie This Year

What a season it was for Tokyo's Grant Arsenault in this new star's first year in the Republic League. He put together a year that earned him the 2201 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

The 23-year-old center fielder crunched some good numbers with a .331 batting average and a .415 on-base percentage to go with his 3 home runs, 73 RBIs and 105 runs scored.

Tobías Picked Best CL Pitcher

An old hand in this game, Juan Tobías of the Leduc Bullets silenced critics as well as he silenced the opposition this year by winning the Continental League Gabriel Prado Award.

The 36-year-old starter threw 246 innings, notched 206 strikeouts and put up a 17-11 record to claim the coveted award.

Elliott Addis had a terrific 2201 season in the Republic League. The Ann Arbor pitching stalwart received the most votes and has been proclaimed this year's Gabriel Prado Award winner.

The Winged Lingerines ace starred with an impressive 17-6 record. In 33 starts, he gave up 211 base hits and struck out 150 in 231.1 innings with a 2.88 ERA. Opposing teams hit .245 against him.

Alexander Terrific, Takes CL Hideaki Tanaka Award

Noblesville's Kenny Alexander put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2201 Continental League Hideaki Tanaka Award.

The 30-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .316 average, picking up 204 hits, 29 doubles, 1 triple, 34 home runs and 88 RBIs, while scoring 95 runs.

The Republic League has selected its Hideaki Tanaka Award for 2201 and the honor went to Carlos Rodríguez, Atlanta's fine first baseman.

He starred this season with a .315 batting average, 189 hits, 36 home runs, 107 RBIs, .389 OBP and 99 runs scored.
