Yorke Receives CL Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award

Today the Continental League announced the winner of the 2192 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award. The top-ranked rookie was the talented Leduc right fielder Burl Yorke.

The 22-year-old Bullets newcomer took the trophy by hitting .311 in 149 games this season and finished with 143 hits, 15 home runs, 60 RBIs and 62 runs scored.


Bilodeau Best Rookie in 2192

It wasn't a stroke of good luck that got Hartford's Samuel Bilodeau the 2192 Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award, it was his skill on the field. The gifted second baseman performed well with a .319 batting average, while playing in 120 games and delivering 160 hits in 502 at-bats. His totals also included 6 home runs, 53 RBIs, 68 runs scored, 30 walks and a .362 OPB.

Bullets Ace, Gabriel Prado Award Winner

The Leduc Bullets have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Kanjiro Kogawa, this year's Continental League Gabriel Prado Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Kogawa compiled a 18-6 record in 32 starts, tallied 189 strikeouts in 232.1 innings and recorded a 2.48 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .227 batting average against him.


Roberto Ruíz Nabs Prestigious Gabriel Prado Award

The Gabriel Prado Award for 2192 has been presented and the Republic League winner is Roberto Ruíz of Toronto.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Ruíz. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Marlboros star told reporters.

Ruíz excelled with an impressive 20-7 record in 33 starts. In 249.1 innings he yielded 196 hits and 25 walks, while striking out 225 and compiling a fine 2.24 ERA.

Great Year Gets Martínez CL Hideaki Tanaka Award

Apex's Jesús Martínez put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2192 Continental League Hideaki Tanaka Award.

The 28-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .278 average, picking up 168 hits, 23 doubles, 13 triples, 29 home runs and 102 RBIs, while scoring 108 runs.


Republic League Names Best Hitter

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2192 Hideaki Tanaka Award in the Republic League. It had already been a very special season for Omaha's Raúl López, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Raúl López gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .328 as he collected 202 hits, 35 doubles, 1 triple, 35 home runs and 94 RBIs.
