Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Rodrigo Rivera still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 34-year-old starter for Apex was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and 1 loss with 35 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.94 ERA in 41.2 innings of work.

Hunt Grabs CL Best Batter Award for May

Paddy Hunt battered Continental League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Hunt told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Hunt hit .394 with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 25 runs.

Hunt is hitting .309 in 2197 with 22 RBIs and 8 home runs.

Rúbio Claims RL Batter of the Month Award

To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Luis Rúbio. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Hartford's right fielder pinned down the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .327 in May collecting 13 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

This year Rúbio is batting .261 with 54 hits, 15 home runs, 36 RBIs, 21 walks, .339 OBP and has scored 35 runs.

Rosbottom Stands Out, Choice for Best Pitcher

Veteran Jake Rosbottom put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Brooklyn Brownstones, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Rosbottom racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.27 ERA over 39.2 innings and striking out 30.

Thus far this season, Rosbottom has tossed 81.1 innings in 12 starts, fanned 62 batters, walked 9 and put up a 2.88 ERA with 6 wins and 3 losses.

Pérez Chosen May's Best RL Hurler

Reynaldo Pérez's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 32-year-old Hammersmith hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 30 in 39.2 innings, logged an ERA of 2.72 and allowed opponents to hit .265 against him.

This season Pérez has worked 81 innings with 62 strikeouts en route to a 7-3 record and a 2.78 ERA.

Joris Rilla's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Noblesville shortstop has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .317 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs. Rilla also scored 23 times and drove in 12 runs.

This season Rilla is batting .272 with 7 home runs. His totals include 18 RBIs and 35 runs scored.

Youngster Domingo Hernández emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Ann Arbor deserved the honor, batting .326 with 4 home runs and 9 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Hernández enjoy the limelight.

This season Hernández is batting .277 with 16 RBIs, 18 runs scored and 5 home runs.

June's Premier Batter Announced

June was an outstanding month for Leduc center fielder Félix Sánchez and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

Sánchez compiled a .330 batting average and .402 on-base percentage for the month. In 27 games he piled up 37 hits, 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

Thus far this year Sánchez is hitting .267 with 14 home runs, 43 RBIs and 53 runs scored.

Hot-hitting right fielder Mathieu Coutu of the Catfish really pounded Republic League pitchers in June, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .333 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs, 22 runs scored and 7 walks to finish with a .374 on-base percentage.

This year Coutu is batting .285 with 18 home runs.

Medellín Collects CL Pitching Award

José Medellín of the Cleveland Cyclones strung a bunch of high quality starts together in June to earn the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and no losses and a 1.34 ERA. The Cleveland star started 6 games, pitched 40.1 innings and struck out 19.

To date this season Medellín has compiled a 11-5 record with a 2.43 ERA in 20 starts.

Powers Nabs RL #1 Pitcher Award

As Mark Powers hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for June, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Hartford once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Powers put pressure on the Riverhawks to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.70 over 37 innings last month. He also rolled up 24 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Hartford and to every other team in the league.

So far this season Powers has 6 wins and 4 losses and a 4.23 ERA.

Andrés Ruíz earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Napa Valley center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Ruíz hit .257 with 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 11 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

A look at his current stats shows Ruíz with a .242 average, 13 home runs, 45 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has played in 83 games.

Dethwright is batting .288 this year with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has 95 hits in 330 at-bats.

CL Best Hitter Award to Cleveland's Dale O'Connor

Dale O'Connor, the Cleveland left fielder, had a productive month in July. He put up some solid numbers with a .287 batting average (27 for 94), 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

That standout offense earned him the Continental League Batter of the Month Trophy.

O'Connor is currently batting .262 with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has 98 hits in 374 at-bats.

Peña Crowned Batter of the Month in July

César Peña picked up the top batter prize in the Republic League for July.

The Hartford right fielder hit .398 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He also drew 12 walks to post an OBP of .455.

Peña is hitting .323 this year with 22 home runs and 85 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .392, 47 walks and scored 67 times.

Apex Starter Named CL's Premier Pitcher

It's official!
Christian Miller of the Apex Assassins is the Continental League Pitcher of the Month. In July he dominated the league with 6 wins and no losses in 6 starts. In 47.1 innings of work Miller chalked up 19 strikeouts, 4 walks, a 1.52 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .200 batting average.

This year Miller has gone 11-8 with an ERA of 3.21 and has 70 strikeouts in 146 innings.

Republic League Names #1 Pitcher in July

There was nobody finer on the mound in July and Tomohiko Murakami cruised to the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today.

He was 4-0 with a 2.89 ERA while piling up 30 strikeouts in 37.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .268 batting average.

This year Murakami has fanned 113 in 151.1 innings and collected a 11-3 record with a 3.27 ERA.

Rilla Tabbed CL's Top Rookie

Joris Rilla of the Noblesville Millers has been honored as the top Rookie in the Continental League.

In July he delivered 31 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He hit .341 with a .361 OBP.

This season Rilla has 11 home runs and a .286 batting average.

Shortstop Nabs RL Rookie Award

Gabe Payton of the Colorado Rancheros nabbed the Rookie of the Month honors for July in the Republic League.

Posting a .360 average last month, he collected 32 hits, no home runs, 7 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

This season Payton has hit at a .313 clip and produced 36 RBI, no home runs and 50 runs.

Rodríguez Top Hitter in CL in August

Aurelio Rodríguez let his bat do the talking in August and the Continental League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .302 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.

Rodríguez's month to remember saw him accumulate 32 hits, 9 home runs, 25 RBI, 19 runs, 7 walks and a .368 on-base percentage.

For the year Rodríguez has hit .298 with 31 home runs, 109 RBIs and scored 86 runs.

César Peña of the Hartford Riverhawks stood out in August with a .342 batting average against Republic League pitchers to land him the Batter of the Month award.

The 26-year-old right fielder totaled 5 home runs, 32 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He also chipped in 12 walks for a .403 on-base percentage.

Peña is hitting .327 for the season with 27 home runs, 117 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has 173 hits in 529 at-bats and played in 135 games.

Juan Tobías was on top of the world in August, capping it off with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors.

For the season Tobías has logged 13 wins and 7 losses and struck out 146 batters in 180 innings while compiling a 3.30 ERA.

The Pitcher of the Month for August has been picked and the Republic League award went to Hartford hurler, Álex Urbina.

Nothing says awesome like being in a three way tie of records for either the 7th (protected), 8th (protected) or 9th (not protected) pick!

This season went about the way I expected. I had some tremendous CON hitters, an improved defense, a couple big boppers and one star pitcher. Makes for a good offense, and wins for the ace. But the rest of the rotation was very short on talent and the pen was, while not bad, also not spectacular either. I went through this season short of the cap some $8-9 M--too bad I didn't think there was anyone worth the money in free agency at the end.

Congrats to the playoff teams and good luck tomorrow.

Over the past month the 24-year-old center fielder for Napa Valley hit .245 with 26 hits, 5 home runs and 18 RBI. He also logged 2 walks and compiled a .277 on-base percentage. RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month Monday, May 1st, 2197 Doug Williams is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In April the Hartford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .358 average with 29 hits, 3 home runs and 13 RBIs.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Hunt told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, Hunt hit .394 with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 25 runs. Hunt is hitting .309 in 2197 with 22 RBIs and 8 home runs. Rúbio Claims RL Batter of the Month Award Thursday, June 1st, 2197 To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Luis Rúbio. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Hartford's right fielder pinned down the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy today. He hit .327 in May collecting 13 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Thus far this season, Rosbottom has tossed 81.1 innings in 12 starts, fanned 62 batters, walked 9 and put up a 2.88 ERA with 6 wins and 3 losses. Pérez Chosen May's Best RL Hurler Thursday, June 1st, 2197 Reynaldo Pérez's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 32-year-old Hammersmith hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month. Sánchez compiled a .330 batting average and .402 on-base percentage for the month. In 27 games he piled up 37 hits, 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Thus far this year Sánchez is hitting .267 with 14 home runs, 43 RBIs and 53 runs scored. RL's Best Batter Announced Saturday, July 1st, 2197 Hot-hitting right fielder Mathieu Coutu of the Catfish really pounded Republic League pitchers in June, winning the Batter of the Month award. Powers Nabs RL #1 Pitcher Award Saturday, July 1st, 2197 As Mark Powers hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for June, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Hartford once his contract is up at the end of the season. Powers put pressure on the Riverhawks to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.70 over 37 innings last month. He put up some solid numbers with a .287 batting average (27 for 94), 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 16 runs scored. That standout offense earned him the Continental League Batter of the Month Trophy. O'Connor is currently batting .262 with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has 98 hits in 374 at-bats. Peña Crowned Batter of the Month in July Tuesday, August 1st, 2197 César Peña picked up the top batter prize in the Republic League for July. The Hartford right fielder hit .398 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He also drew 12 walks to post an OBP of .455. Peña is hitting .323 this year with 22 home runs and 85 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .392, 47 walks and scored 67 times.

Christian Miller of the Apex Assassins is the Continental League Pitcher of the Month. In July he dominated the league with 6 wins and no losses in 6 starts. In 47.1 innings of work Miller chalked up 19 strikeouts, 4 walks, a 1.52 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .200 batting average. This year Miller has gone 11-8 with an ERA of 3.21 and has 70 strikeouts in 146 innings. Republic League Names #1 Pitcher in July Tuesday, August 1st, 2197 There was nobody finer on the mound in July and Tomohiko Murakami cruised to the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today. He was 4-0 with a 2.89 ERA while piling up 30 strikeouts in 37.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .268 batting average. This year Murakami has fanned 113 in 151.1 innings and collected a 11-3 record with a 3.27 ERA.

In July he delivered 31 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He hit .341 with a .361 OBP. This season Rilla has 11 home runs and a .286 batting average. Shortstop Nabs RL Rookie Award Tuesday, August 1st, 2197 Gabe Payton of the Colorado Rancheros nabbed the Rookie of the Month honors for July in the Republic League. Posting a .360 average last month, he collected 32 hits, no home runs, 7 RBIs and 17 runs scored. This season Payton has hit at a .313 clip and produced 36 RBI, no home runs and 50 runs.

He made plenty of noise as he put together a .302 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month. Rodríguez's month to remember saw him accumulate 32 hits, 9 home runs, 25 RBI, 19 runs, 7 walks and a .368 on-base percentage. For the year Rodríguez has hit .298 with 31 home runs, 109 RBIs and scored 86 runs. Peña Crowned Top RL Hitter in August Friday, September 1st, 2197 César Peña of the Hartford Riverhawks stood out in August with a .342 batting average against Republic League pitchers to land him the Batter of the Month award. The 26-year-old right fielder totaled 5 home runs, 32 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He also chipped in 12 walks for a .403 on-base percentage. Peña is hitting .327 for the season with 27 home runs, 117 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has 173 hits in 529 at-bats and played in 135 games.

The Leduc starter was superb in 7 starts with 6 wins and no losses, 40.1 innings pitched, 31 strikeouts and a fine 1.56 ERA. For the season Tobías has logged 13 wins and 7 losses and struck out 146 batters in 180 innings while compiling a 3.30 ERA. RL's Top Starter is Urbina Friday, September 1st, 2197 The Pitcher of the Month for August has been picked and the Republic League award went to Hartford hurler, Álex Urbina. During the month, Urbina was impressive with a 1.49 ERA and 6 wins and no losses. In 42.1 innings he struck out 19 and gave up 28 hits and 6 walks. This season-to-date Urbina has 14 wins and 5 losses and a 3.33 ERA.

Posting a .311 average last month, he collected 23 hits, 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 14 runs scored. This year Miranda is batting .307 with 98 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 44 times and has batted in 63 runs. Red-Hot Rookie Rewarded in August Friday, September 1st, 2197 The Republic League has made it official -- Gabe Payton is the winner of the Rookie of the Month award. During August the Colorado shortstop was outstanding with a .406 batting average, no home runs and 17 RBIs. Payton also had 6 walks and posted a .441 on-base percentage. Thus far this year Payton is batting .333 with no home runs, 53 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
