Kogawa Chosen April's Best CL Hurler
Thursday, May 1st, 2200 Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Kanjiro Kogawa still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 33-year-old starter for Leduc was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. He collected 4 wins and no losses with 32 strikeouts in his 7 starts, putting up a fine 1.33 ERA in 47.1 innings of work. Thursday, May 1st, 2200 Dong-young So earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Apex shortstop might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. So hit .243 with no home runs, 2 RBIs and 9 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. Torrid May Gets Wilson CL #1 Batter Trophy
Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Bryant Wilson used that sweet swing with great success for Napa Valley last month, garnering him the Continental League Batter of the Month award. The 22-year-old right fielder put up a .352 batting average and collected 11 home runs, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored. In his season totals, Wilson has 16 home runs, .337 BA, .415 OBP, 30 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has played in 56 games. Hirayama Garners RL Batter of the Month Award Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 30-year-old Noburo Hirayama put together a solid offensive month for Omaha and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League. He batted .372 with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs scored. In 55 games this season Hirayama has batted at a .335 pace with 73 hits and 9 home runs. |

Salas Gets May's Top Pitcher Trophy
Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Lorenzo Salas hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Continental League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice. In May the Napa Valley starter earned a 4-0 mark in 5 starts. He threw 33.1 innings, struck out 29 and compiled a solid 1.89 ERA. This season-to-date, Salas has fashioned a 7-2 mark and 1.91 ERA in 66 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .188 against him and he has logged 53 strikeouts. May's Starter of the Month Goes to Maynard Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Loys Maynard took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors in May. After all these years playing ball, the 36-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 4-0 for Hammersmith last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award. He tacked up a 1.99 ERA in his 6 starts, tossing 45.1 innings and striking out 17. For this year Maynard has chalked up 7 wins and no losses in 11 starts with 30 strikeouts in 76.1 innings and a 2.83 ERA. |

Ellis Voted May's Top CL Rookie
Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Mike Ellis made quite a few headlines in May. The 26-year-old earned Rookie of the Month recognition in the Continental League by putting up a strong numbers from start to finish. Last month he compiled a .292 average with 19 hits, 3 home runs, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Thus far in 2200 Ellis is hitting .216 with 6 home runs, 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored and has compiled a .264 OBP. Ward Selected RL's #1 Newcomer Sunday, June 1st, 2200 Bobby Ward is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In May the Atlanta hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .311 average with 32 hits, 3 home runs and 15 RBIs. Presently Ward is batting .293 with 9 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 53 games and scored 28 times. |

Reliever Takeda Chosen June's Best in CL
Tuesday, July 1st, 2200 Takashi Takeda was the anchor in the Apex bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for June. The 31-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come. He threw 41.1 innings over no relief appearances and collected a 5-1 record with 12 strikeouts and no saves while etching his 1.31 ERA. To this point in the season, Takeda has no saves in no relief appearances with a 8-4 mark and 2.14 ERA. He has 46 strikeouts in 105 innings with 21 walks. Colorado 's Rosbottom Top Pitcher in June Tuesday, July 1st, 2200 Jake Rosbottom's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-2 in June, the 33-year-old Colorado hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 37 in 40.1 innings, logged an ERA of 2.68 and allowed opponents to hit .242 against him. So far this year Rosbottom has 9 wins and 7 losses and a 4.31 ERA. |

The young Hartford right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .318 with 3 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run. Torres also scored 12 times and drove in 9 runs. To date this season Torres is hitting .305 with 1 home run. |

Miranda Captures CL Batter of Month Award
Friday, August 1st, 2200 Hot-hitting third baseman Juan Miranda of the Bullets really pounded Continental League pitchers in July, winning the Batter of the Month award. He hit .385 with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 3 walks to finish with a .420 on-base percentage. So far this year Miranda is batting .296 with 19 home runs. Moreno Top Hitter in RL in July Friday, August 1st, 2200 July's Hitter of the Month has been selected by the Republic League. This month's trophy was presented to the Tokyo right fielder, Lúcio Moreno. He starred by hitting .346 with a .387 on-base percentage, totaled 36 hits in 104 at-bats, 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 18 runs. For the season Moreno is hitting .279, batted in 71 runs with 26 home runs and 70 runs scored. |

Friday, August 1st, 2200 There was little doubt around the Continental League that Eric Adams would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for July. Today, they made it official, naming the 31-year-old Leduc Bullets starter the latest honoree. He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .259 batting average while fashioning a 2.38 ERA in 7 starts. His record for the month was 5-2 in 41.2 innings of work. This season Adams has a 12-7 record with a 2.65 ERA. Garza Wins RL Top Pitcher Award Friday, August 1st, 2200 When Mariano Garza takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Colorado victory. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 4-1 mark and a 2.91 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 34 innings, fanned 9, and held enemy hitters to a .250 average. That's why the Rancheros star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League. Music Voted July's Rookie Award
Friday, August 1st, 2200 Youngster Frank Music emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Baltimore deserved the honor, batting .293 with 7 home runs and 21 runs batted in. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Music enjoy the limelight. In 105 games this year Music has posted a .247 average and put up these numbers: 14 home runs, 48 RBIs and 42 runs scored. Miranda Named CL Batter of the Month
Monday, September 1st, 2200 Juan Miranda hit the baseball with consistency all month long and was voted the Continental League's Batter of the Month for August. The Leduc third baseman batted .304 and posted 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He also drew 6 walks for a .394 OBP. To date, Miranda has collected 147 hits for a .298 average. He has posted 25 home runs, scored 64 runs and driven in 83 runs. August's RL Batter of Month Award Announced Monday, September 1st, 2200 Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Aurelio Rodríguez can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 32-year-old center fielder for Atlanta was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate. In August he batted .325 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This season Rodríguez is hitting at a .307 pace with 40 home runs, 125 RBIs and has scored 90 times. |

Bullpen Ace Wins Best CL Pitcher
Monday, September 1st, 2200 Takashi Takeda has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in August and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award. The Assassins bullpen ace collected no saves and 18 strikeouts in 33.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .132 average and posting a 0.80 ERA and a 5-0 record. For the year Takeda has no saves in no relief appearances with a 15-7 mark and 2.38 ERA. Republic League Announces Best Starter Monday, September 1st, 2200 It was a very good month for Reynaldo Pérez in August. The 35-year-old veteran starter for the Hammersmith Hooligans outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today. Pérez ran up a 4-1 record in his 5 starts during the month. In 38.2 innings he fanned 29 and recorded a 1.16 ERA. This year Pérez has a 13-10 record with a 3.36 ERA in 27 starts. |

Red-Hot Baltimore Rookie Rated CL's Best
Monday, September 1st, 2200 Frank Music was voted the top rookie in the Continental League for his solid performance last month. In August, the Baltimore center fielder posted a .273 average while racking up 27 hits, 6 home runs and 13 RBIs. In the current season, Music has put up a .253 batting average with 124 hits, 20 home runs, 61 runs batted in and scored 56 runs. Tokyo Newcomer August's Best Rookie Monday, September 1st, 2200 In August, 23-year-old Ken Burton swung a mighty big bat and bagged the Republic League Rookie of the Month award. Last month he played in 21 games and hit .329 with 6 doubles, no triples, and 4 home runs. Burton also scored 14 times and drove in 13 runs. On the season, Burton is batting .255 with 4 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 109 games. |

Hmm, pretty surprised and pleased with the results. I did add pitching talent to a team that needed it, but really, it was more the pedestrian type, just okay. So I am happy that enough pitching was added to give the offense a chance to go far.
Erik and Teach in the CL? Awesome. I can't remember, who runs Atlanta? Good luck tomorrow ATL. It will be kinda weird facing ATL, kudos to you old folks who might remember why.
