OT - Stealing XP

I currently have Windows 3.1 on a laptop, and it just isn't cutting it. I really would like to upgrade to XP. I have XP on every other computer in my house, but not the laptop. All I really want to know is where to steal a copy of XP. Does Microsoft have a download site I can use a stolen password to access? Or should I just shoplift it from a retailer? I don't want a copy (that would be wrong).

Thanks a bunch

same holds for MP3s.

HOWEVER, there is a difference between legality and ethics in my opinion. I have no problem downloading pirated software or music BECAUSE I WILL PAY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I ENJOY. Technically, this is still illegal. I know it's a nebulous line that's crossed, but I feel like I'm still a moral person.

I do the same, but I'm struggling to figure out: how do you pay for the free porn you find on the internet?

well you can install a pirated version of XP, but the problem is you cannot upgrade to SP1 without a legit key.

Nor can you active it. If you don't activate it will lock itself up after 30 days IIRC.

actually you can install and activate a pirated copy of XP on your computer. You just have to make sure you get the corporate version.

And as for upgrading to SP1 you just get a code that works for XP and has not been entered into the database by downloading a little program that someone who cracked microsoft's code threw together. Then you just go into the change code part of windows and pretend you called a phone rep up and enter your new code and ta-daa! XP SP1 installed and working on a pirated copy of XP

not that i would know about this by experience or anything....

Actually, I believe if you read the EULA on XP, if you have one legit copy, it gives you the right to also install it on one 'mobile' machine too.

Meh.
