OT: Sequence Puzzle

While people are working on the Poker Puzzle here is another puzzle not of my own creation.

What is the next number in this sequence? Are there any numbers in the sequence after it?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, __

12?

I know 1 and 3 are primes, but aren't 7 and 11 special kinds of primes, so if you skip 7, you'd also skip 11?

Or it could be that all numbers shown have one syllable in pronunciation, and the answer is still twelve. There would be no numbers after twelve.

That was the first thing that came to my mind, as I read the numbers and accidentally said seven, it dawned on me that it was 2 syllables.

11. And there is an error in this puzzle, you skipped 7. Try proofreading next time.
