Will any network be brave enough to pipe in canned boos for the home team?

I don't actually know what else you could have called it. Did he recklessly bow his head into the ref?

On another topic. Is there some rule about th coaching staff and masks? I can see no other reason for all of the 'chin straps on exhibit today.

I'm not trying to suggest he was trying to hurt him in any way, but he intentionally lowered his head and hit a ref...that's not the definition of a headbutt??

No, he was showing the ref what how the RB was lowering his head, which is a flag. He didn’t hit him, his helmet touched the ref’s chest, but it was in no way a ‘hit’.

I don’t know if Brees can’t push it downfield any more, but so far he’s choosing not to. Notably different from Brady who has taken a couple of perfect deep shots.

Not really. If you put your forehead against the wall, you’re not headbutting the wall are you?

A headbutt is a violent act: first definition on google:

Quote:
an aggressive and forceful thrust with the top of the head into the face or body of another person.

That was not aggressive or forceful

I’m gonna go out on a limb and just have the take that putting a man on the moon was more impressive than two quarterbacks combining for 1000 career touchdown passes.

The fact that the ESPN headline photo is Brady spiking the ball and that he got his first score given how the game has actually gone is equal parts funny and hilarious

Pass interference penalties are the most frustrating thing about watching NFL football. It's just a blatant way to bump up offense and OMGZ look at all these elite QB's with 5 TD's every week.

I haven't seen too many of the ridiculous roughing the passer penalties in week 1 so that's a good thing, but the PI's in this Saints - Bucs game where both players have been clutching/grabbing all the way down the field and then they decide to make a drive changing PI call has been... not at all good.

(side note it's going to be really hard/weird not to type Pats when talking about a Tom Brady game all season long, huh)

I have the same frustration in the niners Cardinals game. The cardinals go ahead touch down was a drive kept alive by a late hit call and pass interference call. That is actually less frustrating than having to watch this game instead of the Buccs and Saints.

There can't be any other sport where there's a rule on the books that is supposed to be equally called both ways and they only ever call it the one way, I'd imagine.

Combine that with the blatant offensive holding calls that haven't been given a few times, the fact that they've only ever called the targeting penalty one way, that absurd penalty on Lattimore where Evans punched his helmet off his head and they only called the first shove by the defensive player - it just really feels like the league wants a certain outcome which is a lot of points. Like we have to have our Brady/Brees headlines even if the actual QB play in the game has been spotty at best.

DOLA - Chargers vs Bengals was inevitably going to be whichever team could fuck it up in the most hilarious manner, but there is a part of me that is surprised it didn't end in a tie for that reason

From the Burrow INT to the offensive PI to the decision to kick with 7 secs left to the missed kick. It was fucking gloriously Bengals.

It did cause a round of giggles in our household. It was the most Bengals ending, and it feels like that is said at the start of every year.

can't believe the Lions lost that. Also the Eagles losing to "The Football Team" was a really bad loss. I assume "The Football Team" is only going to win about 5 games this year max.

Any niners fans got the skinny on Kittle? Sounds like he left with a potentially serious looking knee injury, came back and was on the field but not involved at all from that point on?

Well it's not social activism that's going to make me lose interest in this season, it's the play of my favorite teams(Colts, Browns, and Lions)
