Whens the tourney start? I need to do some research. Two games would be cool
Traditionally its 10 teams of 6? I forget. I don't know if it would be a good thing but I had the thought that maybe we could draft 1 or 2 alternate players this year that could be added before the sweet 16. If you elect to replace a guy(not your low seed guy) the new player wipes out the scoring of the replaced player in the first two games. And the accumulates points from then on. Basically if you get a guy who pulls a 3 point first round exit, it could give you a second chance. Assuming your alternate is still alive. thoughts? |

I like it the way it is...you pick your players and you're stuck with them. To me, that's what makes it fun...picking the players who might not score all the points, but are guys who will score a decent amount on teams you think will go far.

Two weeks til the tourney starts. NCAA Selection is next sunday(the 15th, not the weekend that's starting now... the next one) so that's when the draft(s) would start. 10 teams of 6 sounds right. I think last year we had 16 signups so we went with 8 teams of 6 across 2 games.
Personally I like it the way it is without changes. If we did do some alternate system I'd think there would need to be a penalty for using him(only half his points count or something? some sort of penalty for not picking your starting 6 as well as others who didn't need to use alternates). |

I am also a fan of the current system.
I like the way you have to choose between a guy like Curry who may go off for 2 games or a guy like Ellington who may play 6 games. |

I'll get in on this too. Do you still use the rule where your 6th round draft pick has to be from a team seeded #10 or higher?

Anyone want to post the rules? I can't do well on this phone and won't have home access til later this week.
Any volunteers to run a game? If we get 24 we can run 3 games. Otherwise it'll have to cap at 20 I'd think. |

Rules:
Quote:
Those are the rules posted last year. The draft times were based on the fact that I was running both drafts and rarely wake up before 10am. Also I'd recommend changing the rules officially so that we don't auto pick high scorers (since they're often from bad teams) but just invoke the vikings rule, if you miss your pick the draft continues, and you can pick whenever you return. |

There is of course the caveat with the draft that if you cannot be available during the draft hours and cannot send lists long enough to make your picks promptly that you should probably not participate as there is a hard time limit starting with the selection show and ending at noon on thursday to finish the draft.
This has rarely been a problem of course, but its worth pointing out. |

dola(or double dola, i guess). I'm still only partially employed and can do whatever I need with as many drafts as needed.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I ran a second draft along with Radii maybe the year before last and it wasn't a very tough thing to do. Just PM people when they're up, gather lists, and tell people to STFU when they bitch about missing their pick.

bump.
Right now we have between 21-23 people expressing interest(depending on whether the references to flight sims and movies were also meant to indicate interest, I've sent PM's to see ). 2 games with 11 or 12 would probably work just as well as games with 10 people. If we end up under 24 I assume we would definitely want to do 2 games. I guess the only question would be if we hit 24 people are 2 12-person games or 3 8-person games preferable? |

Always good to make it more challenging in my opinion, plus lower the amount of "upkeep" in terms of getting people to make their picks across two games instead of three.

gstelmack isn't playing(we had PM'd about it since I wasn't sure either). I'm going to take the list and put it up on random.org's list randomizer. The first 12 names will be the draft order for game one, the 2nd 12 will be the draft order for game 2.
