As soon as Revrew sends us our updated roster with ratings, I will have some players on the trading block. I have some decent talent depth available.

Kiper's Draft Analysis
"It's not hard to see who are the real winners in this draft.

First off, Chicago cleaned up. They had 4 picks to haul in, and they made every one count. All but one were top-two players at their respective position, the only exception being the OT, but OTs were deep this year. Additionally, they replaced two 39 year-olds on defense (two players likely to be a weak spot soon, if not already), a 37-year-old MLB on the downhill slide, and prepped the replacement for a 35-year-old OT. Chicago still has some holes, but they will rebound beautifully from this draft. The Eagles will be back in contention in a few years.

Cincinnati also pulled off an excellent draft. The Chaps' biggest two problems were QB and MLB. The Chaps grabbed the top guy at each of those positions. Who would have forseen the top MLB falling to the second round? No Cinci franchise has ever been so lucky. Then, they picked up a safety...and all of a sudden, the Chaps defense is ready to play. If rookie QB Mr. Shmallow can pick up the offense right away, Cinci will unquestionably end their winless streak this season.

Portland - Fate and fortune were smiling on the Sea Biscuits as well, with the top HB falling deep into the second round for Coffee Warlord. The first pick will be huge; the second, Lothar Dirtpounder of the Here and There is already leading the Las Vegas OROY odds 2-5, thanks to the O-line. Could this be a championship year for the Biscuits?

As for losers in the draft, I can't spy any right off. Of course, if any of these players bust, it could certainly hurt. The only real loser immediately evident is Knoxville, not because they picked poorly, but because they only had two picks in this year's solid crop of young prospects.

Finally, a word about San Antonio and L.A.. The Stars are gambling big on picking up two rookies at DT. If it works, the Stars could be our first back-to-back champion. And the Margaritas, a powerful running team with an amazing D, finally grabbed a decent QB. Dip Dipperson will be thrust in the spotlight immediately, and he may be asked to lead the Margaritas to their first championship.

Looks to be an exciting season ahead, as our G.M.s are manuevering brilliantly to get into position."

Camp reports and rosters coming soon...

Training Camp Reports

Cincinnati: "The Chaps are cautiously excited about rookie QB Mr. Shmallow. He's clearly arrested the job from James Earl Jones, but the wide receivers are still adjusting. 2nd round middle linebacker Fluffy Puff Marshmallow has so humiliated current CN MLB Homeschool Winner in camp, that there's talk Winner might just retire. Even Cinci's third round pick is making a play for the starting spot. Dark clouds may be parting in the Queen City."

Los Angeles:"The Stars are reasonably pleased with first round DT Ron Howard. His talent might get him the nod over one of the current veteran DTs. Furthermore, Marmel is pleasantly surprised with third round pick, OG Jackie Gleason. Though 'Mr. Irrelevant' is usually a quick cut following the ZFL draft, Gleason has played well in camp. He may even get the starting nod. For the most part, however, Marmel is going into the season with last year's studs, hoping the young guys can pick up the game one more notch."

Portland"Put a fork in 38-year-old CB Kosh; he's done. Rookie CB Master Hu Li is the new teacher in town! And speaking of teacher, it looks like Antonio De La Tonio can join the coaching staff, for rookie HB Lothar is ready to take the reins, the OROY award, and the championship trophy."

San Antonio"First rounder QB Dip Dipperson is enjoying the protection and great running game. 2nd rounder OT Two Ton Anchor has claimed a starting spot, and before we award the championship to LA or Portland, methinks we'd better run the title game through San Antonio."

Fargo"The offense is back in town. We may get a chance to see just how good Glutton for Punishment is as Fargo has brought in three offensive tools that all look ready to bust into the lineup. First round OG Ray is dominant, second round WR Kaptain Insano has set young WR Tarek back down on the bench, and even third rounder Dumbhead is ready to take his reps."

Little Rock"A mixed bag in Little Rock, but perhaps good news overall. First and third round picks are living up to the hype, especially OLB Little Ray. Second round QB Roger Clemens has struggled in camp, but the Willies, it appears, made a fine first round pick."

Birmingham "Wish I could say the same for the Olympians. Young JuCo WR Hercules, though likely to get the start, has struggled running crisp routes and timing the throws with QB Zeus Reloaded. Talent, yes, but he's going to need some development time. Second round OLB Aristotle is surefire, however, and looks to take the job away from 38-year-old Arkantos. And speaking of taking jobs away, Birmingham has a whole crop of young players that have developed and are ready to get their reps. HB Roman is a name to get to know, as is DT Cyclopes, and CB He's Not JeeberD (remember him? He's baaaaack.)"

Knoxville"Oh, there's no joy in Knoxville. The Rednecks had one top pick, and it doesn't look good. OT Nat Jackson will not bust into the starting lineup, and with his currently poor mechanics and slower-than-realized reaction time, he may not be suited for first string ZFL play."

Milwuakee "Milwaukee's picks are looking good, but it may be a while before you see them. There are some position battles right now as the Muscle Men got more talent than need in this draft. Still, good things to come for Milwaukee."

Albuquerque"FB Drederick Tatum is just the kind of power blocker, inside runner AQ HB Guy Incognito has been hoping for. Unfortunately, second round OG Chester J. Lampwick isn't living up to expectations, but AQ is inching closer to building a running game. Tatum looks to be da Man."

El Paso"Well, maybe we'll let CB Bryant Westbrook stay in after all. First-round pick Tommy Knight seems to be living up to the team name -- "Busters" A solid athlete, Knight is struggling in man-to-man coverage. He gambles a bit much and draws a few too many flags. We'll see. Second rounder DT Dan Wilkinson looks solid, however, and has shored up a starting spot, and I'm guessing El Paso's hopes at trading away a kicker are secure as both rookie Steve McClaughlin and sophomore Scott Sisson are in top form. If the Busters can't make a trade, look for a heated position battle."

Chicago"And finally, the excitement in Chicago is new again after last year's dismal season. 'I believe we acquired the best two players in the draft,' says GM illinifan. 'Safety Shut Down is an absolute glove, and will continue the Eagle's legacy of dominating safeties begun by Ajimba Haad. But good golly, we had no idea what we were getting in MLB Ell Stiladiocastracaphracistocophicano! He's absolutely magnificent in open field tackling, he's fast and furious. He's stolen so many of Randy Steele's big gains in practice that his teammates are calling him 'Ell Capone'. I know we drafted the DROY, I just don't know which one will win it! Fatman Jones and Driven look good, too. Undoubtedly my best draft ever.' I'll let illini say it all, because he could be right. Even Chicago's veteran MLB Zach Urlacher may lose his job as the Eagle youngster invasion is about to take place."

This should be another sweet season...

I'm gonna go with Portland for the title, but San Antonio is a very close second. If that game comes down to kickers, San Antonio will probably win.

Good news on that note, tucker. First-rounders rarely bust right out of the league. They usually kind of drop down to average/bench players. 2nd and third round busts, however, can often be quick cuts. Among breakouts, 1st and 2nd rounders become starters, even superstars, while 3rd rounders range from bench to starter potential.

Several busts this year, and only a couple breakouts. That's just how the rook cards played out.

I may or may not be able to get your rosters to you before the weekend. Work is killin' me (but thank God for the extra dough before the holiday season!), so we'll see.

Your bench has a maximum of 5 players. Therefore, a total roster of 23. Anything over that, you cut.

There are definitely some older players with talent left that could go in a trade if a team is looking to make a run this year. Pay attention to Shorty's post above, and others soon to follow.

A question came in about how long to make cuts and trades? Last season, I gave y'all about a week, but you got them all done in about 2 days. That system seemed to work well, so I'll do the same again. You have until NOON (CST) on this FRIDAY* to make cuts. You have until the results of the 4th week's games are posted to make trades. If I receive cuts from all 12 teams prior to that time, I WILL start the season earlier than Friday.

We confirm.

Press from Albequerque states that the disappointment of 2nd round pick Chester Lampwick, along with the retirement of OL mainstay Clancy Wiggum made the short-term acquisition of Goliath a necessity. Lampwick was quoted as saying, "Up yours, NevStar." Damn rookies.

Wiggum will be returning to his role as police chief. Initial suggestions that Wiggum would be the color commentator for radio broadcasts for the Isotopes were abandoned after 2 members of a test audience stabbed their eardrums out with broken glass after hearing Wiggum's voice.

LA has the following players to trade:

24 B Arnold Schwartzeneggar WR
25 B Jerry Seinfeld HB
26 D+ Ray Romano - OLB
24 C Jeff Probst-OT
23 C+ Charlie Sheen - DT

I am not super anxious to get rid of anyone for just any price, especially if it going to help a contender beat me, so if you want Ah-nold or Jerry Seinfeld, please make a serious offer. They are both starter quality and quite young. The other three can be had very cheap.
