So, we're here again, on the eve of a new season. Just wondering if anyone wants to offer up their thoughts on where their team is and what level of confidence they ahve going into the season.

Havana looks much the same. I have some concerns that Curt Hunt may start to fall apart, that my SS still doesn't provide much offense and that my pen doesn't have the depth it used to. Also, my starters, outside of Galindo, have been pretty inconsistent or unproven. That said, the defense is where I want it to be for the most part, and the offense that is pretty much the basis for the success we have had recently is back intact. I don't think it's out of the question Havana will threaten to reach 100 wins again this year.

It won't last forever: Galindo, Caro and Medina are all in their 30s, and I find myself needing to replace some key piece all the time now, which is costly and difficult and usually the replacement is worse than what I lost. But overall the squad's in a good place right now and maybe for the next year or two at least.

When I look at the Beach Boys first and foremost I see a top-notch offense. This is especially true when you look at our infield: C Santellano, 1B Castillo, 2B Romano, and SS Tolento. All of these player are amongst the league's best at their positions. 3B Robinson rounds out this talented group of hitters.

In the outfield CF Hamilton had a breakout season last year, and I think we will see more of the same in this campaign. The corner spots are solid if unspectacular, with LF Ortiz and RF Beya providing consistent production.

As for the pitching staff there is not much to see. SP Pena is a decent enough ace, but the other starting pitchers will be league average at best. Same with the bullpen. MR Lowe and MR Kelley have been great throughout their careers, but things get a little dicey once you get past those top two guys.

I think that overall my staff my be slightly improved from a year ago, and we should finish near the middle of the league in run prevention. Even though my staff is mediocre, the Beach Boys have a very good defense which should help the pitchers.

Even though we made the playoffs last season I would not be surprised if we missed out this year. I expect Waikiki to finish in 3rd place with 85-90 wins.

Believe me the entire CL shares your concern that Curt Hunt may fall apart! That is, if by 'concern' you mean pray, hope, or wish with great emphansis!

As for Chicago...
With the blocksmasher trade I just completed with Toronto, I took a team that MAY, if the cards fell right, have competed for the honor of losing to Havana in the first round, and turned them into a team that will probably draft in the top 4 picks next season.
How bad are we? With as much time as I spend looking at my players, I will not be able to name half of my starting lineup without looking...That's how bad!
Ya, that 3bman we just signed is pretty good. I know he has 8 contact and 8 eye so he is a great #2 hitter. Unfortunatly I have no #3 or #4 hitter to knock him in.
And sure that other lucky signing, the OF Robinson, or Robertson...he is a decent OBP guy too...so I have a pretty solid top of the order.
I have rookie Hall making his debut this season, and he may even win ROTY as he will be batting third behind my two good players, so he'll get a chance for some 'just add water" RBI's. His ratings are decent. 7contact, 7 power, but he is getting to old that his 9 contact 10 power potentials are out of reach. Hopefully some padded stats will boost his ratings.
After that I have the one legged dude, the legally blind guy, and the guy who keeps running to third base every time he hits the ball.
And my offense is my strength....So I wont get into the starting rotation.

I have enough to win some games...but I will scare NOONE.
