Team Logos/Colors
The logo side of custom leagues is one of my favorite parts of it. I like to play around and see what I can do, but my skills are somewhat limited.
So.. a few things.. 1) Unless we have someone like cuervo in our midst and I don't know it, I'm guessing the logos are going to come from a mixture of people/sources. I think we need to get some standards for how we do this. Personally I was trying to start with a 256x256 square and then we can work down from there (this standard I pulled from what VPI has on the IHOF site). 2) We need to start setting colors. I dont' thinkw e want to have a bunch of teams with the same colors. 3) Anyone have advice on making logos? My biggest problem is getting them as "crisp" as cuervo does. They always just seem to look amateurish. Anyway.. I'll put a spreadsheet together to start tracking colors, etc... Ok - going to keep a running list of the current working logos... They're not necessarily finals, but it's a good one-stop shop.. Tentative Logos: Camargue Flamingos: Wilkes-Barre Coal Miners: Lowcountry Gators: Atlantic City Gamblers: Jacksonville Admirals: Lappland Fightin' Reindeers: Portsmouth Spartans: Rusholme Ruffians: Charlottseville Jeffersonians: Scranton Steam Engines: Stuttgart Stallions: Las Vegas Ballas: Kaiserslautern Wolves: Mexico D.F. Chilangos: Bozeman Kodiaks: Raleigh Recalcitrants: Copenhagen Great Danes: San Diego Sandsharks

Dola, the helmet on the coalminer within the logo. Not the actual football helmet (pewter on the football helmet is fine)

This was probably my only hesitation about joining the league. I'm not nearly as artistic as some of the people on here, and I'm going to be looking for some help in designing my logo or bastardizing an existing logo. As far as colors go, my primary preference would be crimson and gold but I'm not locked into that by any means.

Same here. I have Photoshop, but I use it almost exclusively for photos, not creating custom content. Here is the logo upon which I'd like to build.

EF27 - I've been playing around a bit... Let me know if you like the direction I'm heading...
One thing to note... one of the talents I lack is when taking something that's shaded like this is, I often have a difficult time changing the colors and making it look good. SO I may need to either learn better how to do that (may be useful for other logos) or if you really like it how it is you could consider this color scheme (although it's very similar to what is often a popular color scheme of red, white, blue)...

Made a minor change... I could do "AC" instead of "G" but it doesn't seem like it would fit as well..
Maybe if the Reds were "A" and the Blacks were "C"?

Also.. just for a gauge of what I am/am not able to do I thought I'd show you guys the original image... I'm completley not able to "draw" things... what I can do is move things around, cut things, etc... the other thing I can do is change colors, but like I said, it's much harder for me when it is shaded...

a simple, yet effective, logo done by Cuervo for Atlantic City Gamblers was this:
He also had these alternates: (quality of the last image isn't so good but I'm sure we can get the original if need be)

I'm leaning towards 2, but not sure how to make a helmet out of one (if that's what we have to do).
Or this last one for the helmet, maybe a white helmet with black trim/lines whatever. |

Well hell..
If you like cuervo's, I can get the original from cuervo and adjust the colors or cuervo might be willing to do it.

I plan to use the logo from “Albany Great Danes”. If someone with Photoshop skills can help I want the following change made. - Change “University of Albany” to Copenhagen - Remove the A - Change the colors to red and white (Danish flag) Last edited by Northwood_DK : 11-30-2006 at 12:56 PM. |

these are the colors i want, and the idea (naval) behind the team but the logo below has that "L" as a hockey stick which would need to be changed.

You like the Norfolk Admirals one, not the Milwaukee one? Or the milwaukee one with the norfolk colors would be fine?

Camargue Flamingos will use black / white/ pink.
Black is for the bulls. White is for the horses. Pink is, well, you guessed it, for the flamingos. Helmet will look something like that:

I like the M Logo on the hat on the bottom. That on a white helmet or a red one would be cool(just to compare). I'll get the actual red and green shades needed, i have them somewhere. Last edited by stevew : 11-30-2006 at 02:47 PM. |

So essentially you'd just want the oval and the stars created? That seems manageable.

haven't even thought about a logo yet. I want something mean looking though, not the sissy Toronto Raptors logo. Sissies. I'm thinking about an Pewter/Maroon type look like the Bucs have now.
If anyone wants to help or give suggestions on a logo, I'm all ears. I suck at photoshop as well. (see my papa smurf thread in the main forum) |

either or, the milwaukee one would be easier to work with since there is no "L" and im even ok with their colors. Blue and gold would be preferable but the ease of which to just stick with the Milwaukee stuff is fine, although one of the European Football League's teams is the Admirals, so they may have lots of stuff too. Im pretty open.

Can I change my team name? I thought of a great logo that rocks. It's a minor league team I used to do some things for called the Silverbacks. I loved the logo. My team colors would be red, black and silver.
Does anyone mind? I'd clip out the wording there and just go with the silverback. |

It wasn't a difficult task. I just did a quick Google image search. Just let me know, in the "Claim Your Team" thread, so I can update the spreadsheet again if need be.

Bright red and white for my colors, with maybe a touch of black. I'll see if I can find an old Suttgart American High School stallion logo somewhere on the net that can be worked with...
