Baseball Sim
Curious which baseball management sim people play and why you gravitate towards that one. Especially if you have played all the major ones.

I still play an old version of OOTP for lahman-based historical leagues but I am doing simnasium (Diamond Mind) for online leagues with a bunch of friends.

OOTP for career and Diamond Mind for replay. I've been playing OOTP for years and love the game.

I like to play Baseball Mogul for ease of use. Wasn't a huge OOTP PC fan, but do have the iPhone version. Haven't given PureSim a try yet, but saw there was a deal now for new version.

I've tried OOTP multiple times and it just doesn't click for me. I do like PureSim, but I can't say I've found a baseball sim that I've loved nearly as much as I do baseball.

I'm an OOTP guy. I have at times thought about giving PureSim a shot, but to be honest, OOTP does what I want. I can't even begin to think about how many hours I've put into it.

I play ootp like crazy. I've played puresim some as well, and purchase because I appreciate the developer and his work ethic. I'd say ootp is a great game, and puresim is a good game. Puresim is a lot easier to set up, etc. OOTP is deeper, more immersive, and much more complicated.

I only play online leagues, and for that ootp is great, so that is the only one I really play these days.

Used to be an OOTP guy but it comes out too late in the year to get into. Turned to Baseball Mogul.

Been playing OOTP since 2002, version 4. I've imported my game into each new version up to v11 and will import into v12 next week. I've played every inning of every game for 20 seasons in my OOTP league and plan on playing until I am no longer able.
I spent many hours starting in 1969 playing Strat and having to keep all stats by hand. Looking back at the history of my 20 year OOTP league is just mind blowing to me never imagining such a game would be possible. I'm sure PureSim is a good game but I simply have no reason to switch. |

I only play OOTP. I like the customizability that it offers and I am a huge fan of FaceGen.
I've tried Puresim in the past. I don't think it is a bad game. I just prefer to spend my time with OOTP. |

This might actually be the first year I don't purchase OOTP in a long time. I'm content with the current version and I'm not too happy about it being mid June and still not out. |

I went with the trout, just had too many meh (or worse) experiences with baseball sims to be willing to invest in one at the point. If you told me I had to buy & play one tomorrow though, I'd go with BM which I had some fun with the last time I played it 2-3 years ago.

ditto OOTP11 really seemed to have taken a leap forward in my eyes. I always liked the game but it felt sterile. This game seems to have that extra something that brings me back for my single player games and not just for mass simming. |

Dola: though BBPro 96 would be tops in my mind. Regardless of it's flaws it was the last baseball sim that REALLY grabbed me.

I play both BM and OOTP, although I play OOTP every day and BM about once a week.
There was a gap between 6.5 and 10.. but 11 is extremely good and 12 sounds like it really added to the immersion this game gives me. I have all 3 and may start a fictional league with Puresim when I get the time. Bottom line for me, if I could only choose one, it would be OOTP. |

Currently only play OOTP, and only for MP, not for SP or simming individual games. It's not perfect - there are still some implementations that make me shake my head and the interface is a *tad* unwieldy - but it serves it's purpose and has a number of amenities that other games do not.
My best times with a sim were had with MicroLeague though.

OOTP. It is head and shoulders above. But do save a lot. It still has DB issues that will screw you.

Puresim. It's the closest thing to a spiritual successor to OOTP 6.5 on the market.
That said, I've been tempted by Baseball Mogul 2012. Haven't tried it yet though.

I think there is a father's day sale.. for me, it's a game I had no intensions of getting this year, but I'm glad I picked it up. |

I'm not surprised Baseball Mogul is an afterthought at this point but that game was revolutionary.
I am surprised by how big OOTP's lead is compared to Puresim. |

I play both OOTP and Puresim.
OOTP for multi-player and fictional and for when I want all the 'detail stuff.' It is definitely a deeper game. Puresim has a much better in game experience IMO and I like the historical play a lot better. Puresim has pulled ahead a bit and I may not even get OOTP this year and wait for next years release because Puresim is keeping me happy, but that may change. I do know I will always try and support both Shaun and Markus as much as possible. |

OOTP for everything. In-depth enough, but sims fast enough for me to do whatever I want for the most part.

Puresim never "got" me for whatever reason. I am not a historical simmer, so that may be it.
BTW, next years OOTP13 will have a 2D/3D graphical representation. He says like the old FPB 96 look. |
