I think that there's going to be a lot of hate votes on both sides in the Harvey Danger/Crash Test Dummies matchup.
(I actually don't mind the CTD song, but I know a lot of people who hate it). |

I'll admit, any song parodied by Weird Al gets bonus points in my judgement.

This is really weird from a Canadian perspective, because there are just some bands who get much more play here, usually because they are from here or sometimes from Europe.
There are the Crash Test Dummies, who had many more songs chart higher than Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm, such as Superman's Song, The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead, Afternoons and Coffeespoons, etc. And then Nazareth, who are a classic rock staple. Hair of the Dog, Razamanaz, This Flight Tonight, etc. Finally, Tom Cochrane (and Red Rider), who I don't even understand how he can qualify as a one-hit-wonder. He had so many huge songs, including Lunatic Fringe, which I thought was big in the States, as well as the song Big League. It was #9 on the US Mainstream rock charts while Life is a Highway was only #6. |

Maybe Canadians should just go back and watch hockey while sipping a Tim Horton's coffee and eating poutines.
I always wanted to try a poutine.

Crash Test Dummies just toured this year and they look DAMN GOOD.
But too bad they are up against the monster that is Flagpole Sitta |

Thoughts:
Sir Mix-A-Lot vs Take That - no brainer Abbott vs Exile - thought Abbott would get more support. Danger vs Dummies - sounds like it should be cartoon...thought it'd be closer. Gilder vs Charlene - no brainer Nazareth vs Lee - another one that was easy to predict...the second round Nazareth vs Gilder match up is intriguing. Channel vs MARRS - Easy to predict, due to familiarity of Pump up the Volume...but Channel's tune probably deserved better. Cherry vs Libs - slightly surprised by the amount of support for Boy from New York City... Last edited by Breeze : 11-25-2019 at 11:14 AM. |
