Skydog you are a dictator sometimes.
http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/for...threadid=17777
You locked this thread because people disagreed with you banning someone? Come on man that is just flat out dictator like. I read all mrskippy's post and he didn't curse or insult anyone. I don't get it. I know I'm missing the history here but you shouldn't be that way as a mod. Next point, on the html mod. How can you ban that skippy guy when you had people "Slander" a company on your boards and accuse them of stealing code. Come on man, that is BS. You are being to one sided. Skippy gets banned because he says, There are no bugs in FOF? I know why he said it I've seen people flamed here before because they said FOF has bugs. He was beign sarcastic, not talking about someones mother, not accusing a company of stealing, not saying that someone was lying about a death in the family and the other 100 things that go on here. If you are going to ban him because you don't like him, then fine say that. But, don't hide behind a bunch of BS, its cowardly and wrong. Me thinks you will lock this thread, because I'm questioning you. I like you and you are a great tester and your music is nice. "A bit to religious for me, but a very nice sound". But, you are a guy just like us and being a mod of a internet website doesn't make you god of the board. Have a nice day, |

These are the most illogical type of threads to start in this forum and should be kept behind the sense. SkyDog can be reached via PM or Email if you actually have a problem with how he runs this board. To call someone out as a dictator in public is just plain old stupid. Moron. |

Now you calling me a moron is an attack. He made it public he banned him again to everyone hence making it public. Why is it fair for him to be able to call people out on the public boards, but when its to be discussed it must be pushed privately.
No, if its ok to speak publicly about banning someone and making a point that you are king and cool when you do it, then it should be allowed the other way around. This is a DEMOCRACY. The general description of the boards, is anything goes but keep it civil. What is not civil about saying "FOF has no bugs?" Thats sarcastic yes, but not civil hardly. So, please get off of your knees and breathe from kissing skydogs ass. |

Furthermore, it is clear that you have no idea whatsoever what you're talking about. mrskippy has a long history, WAYYYYYYYYYYY beyond your time here, of being an extremely high-strung troll. I was magnanimous enough to allow him back on the board when FOF2K4 was released, but under some very strict conditions. I told mrskippy he had to avoid all controversy, all sarcasm, and all trolling. The "FOF2K4 has no bugs" was clearly an attempt at trolling.

As I said in my post, I don't know the history. But, he could of easily come back here. Its not hard to change your name, or if you ban by ip, to get a new or to spoof.
Most of the good threads on this board are filled with controversy. While it is a private board, I do believe that gamespy.com still does have final say and you could get your mod rights revoked if you abused them, could you not? Not that you abuse them, I just don't understand why you banned one of the only guys in the HTML thread that stuck up for .400. It seemed like a lynching on the poor guy because he was in the minority. You had people accusing the company of theft, "which is slanderis" and you allowed them to keep posting. Not knowing the history of the guy, it just flat out seems wrong and hypocritical. I said my piece and you said yours. Thanks for the chance to talk. Skydog, I didn't miss the boat, you are predictable.
By calling you out as a dictator and saying you would lock my thread, just prevented you from doing so. Because, it would of made you look like more of a dictator, not willing to debate the point. But you still are missing the point. YOU allow slanderis posts on your board, Accusing .400 of code theft. You didn't reprimand the person or ban them. I want to know why? Please explain. This is a moderated forum, but it is not private. Private forums can not exist if you allow public access, which you do. So by allowing people to make false accusations on your board on a "PUBLIC SITE" is indeed wrong. |

No one accused .400 of stealing anyone's code.
I'm willing to bet the reason SD didn't say anything is because once HR said in the thread that he talked to Arlie and it was resolved, everyone pretty much dropped it. Everyone, except of course for mrskippy. |

This is a public forum, yes. Therefore, people are allowed to post their opinions, no matter how outlandish they may be. Ben is the policeman and you sign up for that when you agree to "membership". Sometimes people's opinions are outlandish and offensive (i.e. Gary's family situation) and Ben has every right to ban a person for making such a remark. However, while other opinions may be judged as slanderous and outlandish (the stealing of code that you refer to), it is ultimately just that - someone's opinion. I think very few of us would judge that to be offensive in a "moral" court. Plus, it was obvious that there was some dialogue between the two developers, and HR seemed to question the "coincidence".
Ultimately, I can only assume that you're trying to make the point that Ben is somehow anti-.400 -- which I think is dubious since he's part of the beta team. I give Ben the benefit of the doubt regarding his intentions when agreeing to become a part of that team. |

Thanks, CraigSca. Pretty good post you had there. I kindof got suckered into reading this because I figured this would be a good joke thread and not something serious.
However, when a lot of you guys just prance around the "destroy the troll" pole, it kindof serves to prove him right. While I agree SkyDog does a good job here of not abusing his power, some of you are following the typical net behavior of "scorn anyone who's not in the little clique of old timers" which really drives off new members. If I didn't know a little about Skippys past here, I'd think that the mods had an itchy trigger finger, too. Explain what's up to the guy rather than egg him on. SI

This is not a public site since membership is required prior to being allowed to post. Once you agree to the terms of membership you have joined a private forum. Granted of course that SkyDog approves your membership request. Unless you didn't realize that he has to approve every membership request before someone can become a member. Therefore, it is Skydog’s site. Also, gamespy does not own the board but rather the space it occupies. They own the land while SkyDog owns the house. You are playing under Skydog’s roof with his permission, I would suggest following his rules or go elsewhere. |

Oh...and if anyone cares (which I kind of doubt), Chief Rum PM'ed me asking why I closed that thread, and I explained it to him. He understood why. (That's not to say that he necessarily agreed with my reasoning--he didn't explicitly say one way or the other--but he definitely understood where I was coming from.) Since it was his thread that I closed, his opinion is the one that matters most to me.

Its the obvious hypocracy that is shown here that you allow this to go on, but ban skippy for defending this point and making a sarcastic comment. Just doesn't mesh.
