Ping - Wireless Network Experts
So I've noticed in the past couple of weeks that my wireless router traffic has gone up. I know enough to be able to look in the Verizon Logs to see where I had 10-20 events logged on prior days has now ballooned to 50+ daily events.
I'd like to get a better handle on my overall network traffic (ideally wireless as well as ethernet). What I would hope to do is find a software tool that will provide me details on the traffic for each network device. On Verizon, it's logged only by the internal IP address, but since I have DHCP set up, theoretically the devices could change to different addresses. So I would love to see a report by device (if possible), how much bandwidth it's using, the from/to IP addresses it's communicating with. Preferably in some sort of "user friendly" format. I have the following devices that connect wirelessly at different times: 2 tivos, 2 ipads, network printer, treadmill, itouch, asus transformer, laptop, xbox. I want to make sure I don't have a rogue app or something that is constantly pinging a mothership somewhere. I run anti-virus and spyware on the computers (desktop as well as laptop), so as best I can tell, I'm safe there. I started reading about Wireshark last night, but that seemed a little more than I needed. Any recommendations? Thanks! |
