"Trade Manners"
It's funny how one thread inspires another.
What sorts of things do you guys consider to be "good" or "bad" manners in a trade? I consider it proper to always give teams interested in a player the chance to find out what another guy is offerring. I know that sometimes you want "THAT SPECIFIC GUY", and are willing to up a bid if you actually know what it is you want to beat. What things would you all call good or bad? |

In my opinion, it simply comes down to respecting the time that other owners put into trading.
If you get a well crafted offer for a guy you weren't advertising, then that owner deserves more consideration. If you get an "offer" for a guy on the block like "What do you want?", then that owner doesn't deserve as much consideration. It's simply respecting the time and effort. |

At the same time, I hate people who put up trade blocks that just list a bunch of players and then get upset when I ask for some general description of what they're looking for. Typically, when I put up a block, I say "looking for draft picks" or "trying to get younger" or "need help on the D-line." Heck, even saying "I need just about anything" is better than nothing. In my opinion, a trade works well between two owners when both are willing to be honest and say what they need and what they don't. I get irritated by the owner who just wants to sit back and let you shoot in the dark. |
