(Mostly) OT: What I Did with my Summer Vacation
It's been a terribly hectic 4 days or so for me, thus my lack of an export last night and temporary abdication of my various duties, FLOPly, BODly, and HOFly. For me it was the culmination of a year of personal effort to join a quarter of a million people in Chicago's Grant Park last night and watch history be made.
I took some pictures from within the ticketed area of 70,000. There were anther 170,000 or so beyond that. If you'll forgive me a moment of pride, it was definitely the single most massive thing I've ever been involved in, and I'm thrilled to have been a material part of the effort behind it. And now that's in the books, and I can refocus on things here. The main thrust of this post is that I apologize for not being around for the minimal things asked of me, but I think I had a good reason. I should be able to start catching up now.

I'm glad you're excited the guy you supported won. I find it remarkable that so many people are excited that an Ivy League educated lawyer who has led a conventional, prosperous life was elected president. He's different than Bill Clinton how exactly?

Not going there, mate. While I make my allegiances plain, you'll note I carefully avoided saying anything overtly political about either candidate. I'll be glad to debate you in PMs if you want, but I doubt the league wants a political debate right here.
As far as why people should or should not be excited, I'll simply refer you to the endless reams of commentary to be written and read in the coming days. I'm sure you'll find plenty there to confirm or deny any viewpoint you wish to hold. |
