Your payroll is 64 million. How much of an offer could you have given him? And with 13 teams with at least 15 milliion on the table, there's no way a player is going to take anything other than a max offer.

You are right, my mistake. I originally was going to offer him, but changed my bids later and just forgot. I decided to go all out on Wagner instead after the last two seasons of trying to get multiple guys and missing on them all.

I'm sorry that my outfield had .744, .747, and .809 OPS last year, 17, 28, and 30 SB last year, and I had other gaps on my roster that were a bigger deal than OF.

I'm just pointing out that I had bigger fish to fry. Sure he'd be a nice addition, but Wagner would have had a much BIGGER impact, so that's where I tried to send my money, along with everyone else unfortunately.

It's premature to jump the gun on this with only 1 short FA sim out of the way. I can tell you that draft pick compensation had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I made him an offer.

I'm excited about this upcoming season. I think I have a very small window of 1 or 2 years where I like my chances vs anyone else in the league. I feel that I have the best infield in baseball with Stahl, Lennox, Wagner and Heinie. In the OF I have two players that i feel could be all stars in Sheckard and rookie Dutch Zwilling that I am bringing up. My pitching should be decent enough as well.

Biggest problem for my team is going to be age. George Davis at 39 years old is now pretty much just around for team morale/backup player (It seems unlikely he'll get the last 180 or so hits needed for the all time record at this point). Al Burch decided to take a rating hit, leaving my final OF spot to Joe Birmingham (unless I pick up someone else via trade or FA still) Stahl and Sheckard are both 31 and Wagner is 35.. So I need to take advantage of it this season or back to the drawing board time for me.

I have no handle on pitching in either this early era or -X. So, my pitching could finally turn around, or continue to flounder like the past 2 seasons. I am shelving the 5 man rotation experiment, thats for sure.

Offensively, I am stacked, with good contact guys. If Lumley signs elsewhere, his power will be missed, but I think we will still score.

Infield defense remains suspect, its especially hard to bench Lord in favor of Mowery, even though Mowery is much better with the leather.

I refuse to make offers because I don't know what pick I will lose and need my Top 3 pick.

Top half of the draft's first round are protected. As long as your in the top 8 picks you won't lose your first rounder.

He wants $9,000,000 a season is why I didn't want him. He has hit and I could be wrong but my confidence he can keep doing what he is doing and be worth that money isnt great. I have offered 3 type A's contracts though this off season (of course lost lol).

100% agree I do think we need to understand Tim hasn't been in FOOL-X and we have see it. It took FOOL-X about 8 seasons till compensation set correctly.

How do we do their ratings? Is it recalc'd every year and or is it based on the remaining years of their career or what?

DC can correct me if I'm wrong, but when he set it up initially I believe he said no recalc in this league along with average talent randomness (which is higher than the other FOOL leagues) just to create more "what-if" scenerios so everyone doesn't just assume that player X will always be better than player Y.

Neither. It's based on neutralized stats with recalc set to 3 years. I thought it'd be cool for history to be completely different, especially once we get to the modern era where we start to know the names of the guys more readily. What if Tony C really does reach his potential? What if Satchel Paige gets to play his whole career in the majors? Will The Babe really be The Babe and will he be hitter Ruth or pitcher Ruth?
