Well.. lets hope this draft is at least 30-40 players deep I suppose

Lost both of my free agents to teams in the top half of the draft, so have to settle for 2nd round picks + sandwich picks.. Cursed Phillies and Orioles!

No one signed my Type A guys so I guess I'll be offering them bargain basement contracts rather than let them waste away in the FA bin.

I probably need an OF with one year left on his deal, maybe 2. I have some surplus pitching. Anyone wanna deal? PM me, I prefer to evaluate a proposal to making one myself. Thanks.

Not doing so good in Louisville. Lost 2 big name guys and the fans hate me. Tried to sign a few guys but only got one, and now I'm almost out of money and only have 21 guys on the team.

The success of the Black Caps could be coming to an end for a while until I get a hang of things.

Will players stats drop off in this league if we try to use them after the year they retired in real life? For example, my SP Chick Robitaille only played 1904-1905, does it make FOOL sense to keep him past 1905?

Players will not follow real life career paths. If they do, it's a coincidence.

Man Brooklyn has been handing out compensation all over the place. I got a FOURTH round pick from them plus a supplemental first for Joe Corbett.

I am envious of the NY Giants. They get all kind of good choices to pick from in the draft.

Looks like by the time it gets to my first round pick there won't be much left (much less my supplemental or 3 second round picks). Disappointment!

With the thought that players could develop differently, and pretending that I just woke up from being asleep for 300 years and did not know who Ty Cobb was, I would have him as one of my top two choices.

I probably would lean towards Cobb, but he isn't the only real nice player at the top of the draft. I just dread looking forward to Ty Cobb playing for the Giants for the next 15 seasons and having to face him every season!

I'm not sure if I will pick Cobb...Lloyd looks to be equally talented but plays a more desirable position...
I'll have to look closer....
How can Cobb not be 10sp, 10st? But like we said several times...this isn't a replay league!!

Interesting player I'll be watching.
I signed 1B Lefty Herring who is a AAA calibur 1bman and noticed that he has 10 Stuff, 10 Movement and 5 control potentials. I'm going to change his position to a MR and see if he'll develop into his potentials.
Not sure why I felt the need to post this, I just thought it was really cool to see a fielder turn pitcher!

Look at my player George Mullin. He was originally a pitcher in the draft.

Is it a bad sign that I could only find 23 guys I even wanted on my roster for spring training?

New file is up expanding rosters to 40. I'll extend the export deadline to 9am eastern time, too, to give those who need time a bit extra.

Historical is tough to fill out a 25 man roster, especially in the early going. I was in a "mature" historical league (16th season when I joined, I think) that was in 1927 when I joined, and AAA teams still only had like 6 or 7 guys.

DC, I had actually exported my draft list and would rather not re-do that than bring up my 26-28th men. Will my export take? (Sorry since I was the one who asked for the roster expansion).....

Yeah, it'll totally take. The only time it won't take is if the date changes. If the date stays the same, you're good.

If you take and export your roster (to your computer) then update the file, and then import your roster again. Then make any additional changes you want and re export.

Looks like my draft list lasted part way through the 2nd round. So I got roughly 4 quality picks this time around. Not as bad as I had feared, but not as much as I would have liked for the free agents I lost.

Sweet a 31 year old pitcher with my 1st pick! The Louisville embarrassment starts already!

That just means you don't have to worry about screwing up his development.

Well, I exported for the regular season.. I don't think my team is going to be crappy crappy but I definitely downgraded in three positions (Relief pitching, Left Field and second second base) this season. Even more troublesome is my team is super thin.. I have some prospects drom the draft that could help me there easily but I'm right at 64.9 mil and can't even afford to bring one of them up ..

So guess we will see how it goes this year. The league is too competitive to just put a team to hope to get by and expect to win anything, so I assume I should finish above .500 but probably 4th place I would guess.

In regard to the American league, I think that Baltimore looks like the team to beat.

Predicted order of finish:

1. Baltimore Orioles
2. Philadelphia Athletics
3. Louisville Black Caps
4. NY Yankees
5. Boston Red Sox
6. Chicago Whales
7. Detroit Tigers
8. Washington Senators

The Tigers look to have an impressive offense, but pitching looks like a problem. Something about the composition of the Red Sox doesn't ring true to me, although it was tempting to throw them higher based on last year's success. I think Matt's grousing about Louisville is a cover for a team that the AI had in surprisingly good shape. I feel that my Yankees are somewhat better, with my 2 early draft picks shoring up my pitching tremendously, but I do not think I can crack the top 2 this year.

I think the AL will once again be tight in the middle, with a similar spread of 7 or 8 games separating 5 or 6 teams from 2nd down.

dola, Washington would never be in the 8th spot if Tasan was still running them with full intent, but his expressed lack of interest and I'm not sure if the team hasn't been turned over, has me skeptical that any "magic" can be worked with a pretty depleted looking team.

Spot is running Washington now (I never updated the Team list, doing that now!). He is an OOTP veteran (having been around ootp as long as I have probably). I haven't really looked at Washington too much yet, but I expect as long as Spot takes a liking to the FOOL format, he should be able to make them not be total pushovers in a season or two.
