I finally watched the play again and one thing really stands out..

How the hell can you have a 3 point lead with 6 seconds, gain possession, get fouled, and somehow lose the game?

when the refs don't make the right call

Also, it was 9 seconds, a 2 point lead, then hitting 1 free throw. OSU hit the three with 7 seconds left, at least according to the pbp on sportsline

There were 2 seconds left when he hit the 3.

Those guys are idiots.

Honestly, you don't think they are "coached" to back the refs?

Allright guys, we'll agree to disagree and all that matters now is that Xavier is out and Ohio St. is still alive.

No more or less so than the ones on ESPN are "coached" to generate as much controversy as possible.

Can someone tell the UVA guard to stop dribbling between his legs? It has added absolutely nothing tangible to his team's offensive efforts.

It's okay to tell him ... just not until after this game is over

This UVA-Tenn game is being called very tightly on both ends of the floor. Many reaches called when there looks to be mostly contact on the ball.

Singletary always does that. I was actually mentioning it to Wade before the game started.

Yes. It's ruining the game. I blame ESPN for making a big deal out of the Oden foul.

I don't think UVA is going to have what it takes to win this game. They give a feeling that they are just barely hanging on...

They call every imaginable foul in this game & then miss the guy hanging on the rim. Good grief

I was going to call the move OK since the offensive guy was sort of under him, but continuing to play defense while hanging on the rim is pretty bad. Safety is one thing, but you can't continue to play in that situation.

So a little white guy like Bradshaw can't shoot free throws? That's gotta be some kind of paradox.

The announcers' tone seems a little mellow - like we're winding down a blowout game.

He would have had more time for the shot if he hadn't been dribbling between his legs all day.

CBS needs to update their data listing, because I can't get the FLA game online. I'm in SC, wouldn't it make sense for their system to say the Winthrop game (which is on TV) is my local game and not FLA?

Wait, you mean there's only 1 national champion and the ACC can't win it 12 times in one year? You're kidding me.

People who say "let players decide things on the court" are really saying "give the bigger and stronger team the advantage". The rules in basketball are supposed to be set up so that strength is not a factor. Speed, quickness, dribbling, ball handling, shooting, and perhaps height are supposed to be the critical skills.

The fact that strength is a lauded skill in both college and the NBA is one reason I don't watch very much basketball anymore.

Wow, I'm really happy for Tennessee. We'll get our doors blown off by a hot OSU team, but I'm happy.

I'll stay away from a recruiting comment.

Maybe you should have seen the play before commenting, because that isn't even close to what we are really saying. No one is claiming that the refs should have swallowed their whistles while Oden went up for a block, but his large body made contact with a Xavier player, which resulted in a lower chance of a basket. It has nothing to do with the strongest or fastest players getting an advantage. It has to do with the refs not being the ones to decide the outcome of the game by making a call that isn't necessary. The original foul call -- necessary, and not calling it would have been cheating Xavier. But deciding to escalate the call past your typical late-game foul wasn't necessary. Xavier got their fair shot. They were headed to the line to shoot two, as the foul call required.

Your argument belongs somewhere else.
