Copeland and, to a lesser extent Brice, were not really surprising to be taken so high. Nielsen was a bit of a shock but when you consider the age of most starting QBs, I guess it makes more sense.

Whit was projected (am I ever right? ) as a late 2nd, so an early 3rd is pretty close. However, I think Mayes going in the 5th round, albeit the first pick in that round, is nuts. Getting a 5.8 rated RB in the 5th round could be the steal of the draft.

Sounds like Swaggs might be on the roster bubble. How many seasons do I have to play to collect a pension?

Le Wood actually has the highest future rating on the team but has never played enough to get his current moving at all. If he ever got some playing time, he could be a useful player for years. The other QBs on the Chiefs team are:

Blitz is still just waiting for Kendrell Bell to get over with. Bell's contract runs out after 2012 and he will surely play it because he's due to get a cool $17 million+ for his efforts. After that, it should be Godzilla's turn. The other MLBs on the Jets team are:
  1. 11 Years- 70/70

Ertmann will again be hoping for any field time he can get as Culpepper is back for another season, his last on this contract. Dante has, in fact, missed some time in 4 of his FOFC seasons, so Daniel must be ready. The other QBs on the Viking team are:
  1. 12 Years- 85/85

Mayes is already penned in as the starter for the Cardinals. Too bad their offensive line is mediocre, to put it nicely. Colton will have to do most of the work himself until the hoped for upgrade of Arizona commences. The other MLBs on the Cardinal team are:
  1. 7 Years- 45/47
  2. 4 Years- 36/36
  3. 9 Years- 36/36

Nielsen has a bit of backup duty to go through behind 13 year veteran Brian Griese. Griese has 2 more years worth of contract left- if he plays. The Bears need to get Rob some work so he can begin to develop. The other QBs on the Bear team are:
  1. 13 Years- 57/57
  2. 3 Years- 17/32

Brice is in a very crowded situation in Dallas, but he is clearly the best player and should start. One must assume Dallas will clear the position by releasing two of these guys. The other RBs on the Cowboys team are:

Whit will need to apprentice for a bit to get some experience before taking over the starting job. Incumbent Cedric Wilson has not missed a game for injury for 5 years, so Kel will just have to learn and work until his turn comes. The other FLs on the Colt team are:
  1. 11 Years- 54/56

PROJECTION: Starting WLB

Returning starter Joe Odom has a rating to match Copeland- for now. We can't see how Tampa Bay will leave Derrick on the bench and stifle his growth just to keep a veteran from bitching about playing time. The other WLBs on the Buccaneer team are:
  1. 9 Years- 47/47

Players of the Week:
  • Offense- Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger was 27 of 33 for 304 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs
  • Defense- Buffalo DE Kenechi Udeze had 5 tackles, 2 assists and 3.0 sacks
FOF Notes: Week 1
  • What a crappy week on the FOFC front. The only good game was turned in by Larry McGill for New England while Minnesota RB Inigo Montoya had a decent game.
  • There were a bunch of DNPs for the crew, and it may not change for the forseeable future, barring injuries. The thing of it is, many of the benchriding FOFCers have more potential than the player in front of them. When will their chance come?
  • Tampa Bay's Derrick Copeland started his game, was in for almost 40 plays, yet did not make the stat sheet. Not the first game we had expected.
  • Indy WR Kel Whit was inactive for the game against Tennessee.
FOF matchups: Week 2

  • none

Players of the Week:
  • Offense- Minnesota QB Dante Culpepper was 25 of 35 for 270 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs
  • Defense- New York Giants DE Osi Umenyiora had 7 tackles, 1 assists and 2.0 sacks
FOF Notes: Week 1
  • FOFC teams went 2-7 on the week, with 5 of the 7 losses by nine or more points.
  • Good games were down to one, as NE MLB Larry McGill turned in a 9 tackle game.
  • Lots more DNPs, as expected in some cases. However, two cases are particularly puzzling, as explained below.
  1. WR Kel Whit, with the Colts, is the highest rated flanker for future (and 2nd highest overall) on the team, yet he is inactive each week. One would think a little PT would be a good idea.
  2. RB Tim Brice, with Dallas, has the highest ratings for BOTH current AND future. Why is Dallas sitting their best RB- CURRENT best also- on the inactive list.
FOF matchups: Week 3
  • Arizona @ Tampa Bay

Go Bears!

Although I think it's high time I start. Griese can't possible last more than another game or two.
