Best Emulator Consoles?

My modded XBox has just about bit the biscuit so I'm shopping around for a new baby. I know very little about these units but it seems those in the $100 price range seem to struggle with Dreamcast and above but then there's a big leap up to about $300 for stronger builds. I'm wondering if there's anything in between that has decent power but won't run me 3 bills as I'd probably be using it for older games 90% of the time but it would be nice to have as many Dreamcast/PS/N64 games as possible.
