You'll Never Walk Alone (FM2010)

You'll Never Walk Alone
A FM10 Dynasty
By Northwood_dk

Made the mistake and downloaded the FM10 demo. When my wife came and asked what I was doing and I replayed “Just one more turn” I knew I was hugged again. That was at 03:30 in the morning.

I’m a long time player of the CM/FM series but have not been buying or playing the game since FM05. After playing the FM10 Demo I have just been waiting for the game to be released so I could get this dynasty underway.

As it is a longs time since I have been playing FM I properly got a lot to learn with the new interface and all the new features. This will be the first time I play with the media interaction. I will try to play it slow and play thru just one week a day.

I have no special ties to Liverpool FC and picked them only because they are a big club and should be relatively easy to manage.

Apparently I got a terrible PC so I will only be running a few leagues with only England being playable.

Enjoy and feel free to ask question as we move along.

Liverpool: A Background
Founded in 1892, Liverpool are a professional English club currently playing in the English Premier Division. The club play their home games at Anfield and possess top training facilities and an excellent youth setup. The Liverpool reserve team play at Prenton Park. The club is affectionately known as The Reds and retains a fierce rivalry with Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton.

Having enjoyed their greatest spell of success during the 1980s, The Reds are undoubtedly one of the most successful clubs in England. Boasting a proud total of forty-nine competition wins, here are just some of their highlights: Liverpool won the Champions Cup on five occasions and finished runners-up on two occasions, won the English top division eighteen times and finished runners-up on twelve occasions, finished runners-up in the Cup Winners Cup in 1966, and won the EURO Cup in 1973, 1976 and 2001.

Week 28
(06/07/09 – 12/07/09)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

07/07/09
It has been well known for some time in football circles that the American owners of Liverpool FC George Gillett and Tom Hicks have not seen eye to eye on a lot of issues with the team’s manager Rafael Benítez. Still it was a huge surprise that the owners today decided to terminate his contract just 1 ½ months before the start of the 2009-10 Premier League season.

But it was an even bigger surprise that they decided to appoint Thomas Northwood as the new man in charge on Anfield Road. Mr Northwood has been out of football since 2005 (FM2005) but is expected to be presented to the media in a press conference later this week.

Thomas Northwood will be under huge pressure to show results from day-1. The minimum expectation for the team by both fans and media is to challenge for the title and also do well in Europe.

08/07/09
First order of business for LFCs new GM Thomas Northwood was to attend the press conference. After the medias came away with this quote from the new GM.

“Tom Northwood was not giving much away as he met journalists for his first press conference as the new manager of Liverpool.
A journalist from the Daily Post chose the main focus point for the conference, asking, "New managers often bring about times of change and upheaval and some might fear for their jobs. Will there be changes?"
Northwood's response was, "Everyone will have a chance to prove that they are worthy of being here."

The rest of the day the new GM spend on the practise field watching the Liverpool first team and the reserves play a friendly. It was a chance for both players and staff to get a feel for the new formation all LFC teams will be playing this season. The formation is described as a mix between a 4-3-2-1 and 4-4-2 depending on the situation.
GM Northwood decided to play what could very well be the starting lineup on opening day before substituting almost the entire team in the second half. The game finished 4-1 but the only important new from the game was that Steven Gerrard was injured after just 13 minutes of play and will be out for 4 to 5 days with a bruised rib.

MATCH REPORT:
Liverpool 4 - 1 Liverpool Reserves (Friendly)

Despite Liverpool's comfortable 4 - 1 victory over minnows Liverpool Reserves, some pundits were unimpressed with the manner of victory, with the underdogs causing Liverpool far more problems than had been expected.

The match started tentatively for Liverpool with Sotiris Kyrgiakos nearly handing the opposition the lead on 2 minutes. Israel captain Yossi Benayoun gave Liverpool the lead with a screamer from the edge of the area in the 37th minute.
Winger Albert Riera doubled Liverpool's lead with a placed shot on 40 minutes. Voronin scored with a close range effort in the 50th minute to extend the lead further.
Striker David N'Gog pulled one back for Liverpool Reserves after 51 minutes with a placed shot. Commanding centre-back Jamie Carragher completed the rout with a placed shot from close range on 54 minutes.
Attendance: 0

This will be the only game the first team play before going inn to training camp. The next scheduled game will not be until 18/7 when the team plays France team Le Mans UC 72 in the first of six friendlys leading up to the start of the regular season.

09/07/09
The biggest problem for new manager Thomas Northwood might possible not be found on the field but instead in the boardroom and on the way to the bank. Despite the sale of Alonso to real Madrid for close to £30milllion and an annual transfer budget of close to £20milllion the team is almost out of transfer money.
Most of that money was spend on Glen Johnson and Albert Aquilani who was both brought inn before the American owners decided to fire Benitez.
With the owners reportedly being almost out of cash with most of there money being tied up in assets and debts it’s unlikely that more money will be made available anytime soon. Add a bank loan of £300mil waiting to be paid back, Northwood’s only chance to add quality players to the roster before the season will be by selling fringe players.
Witch players that will be made available for transfer is still unclear but speculations around Anfield keep mentioning Andriy Voronin, Dirk Kuyt and Philip Degen as players that might be on top of the list and on the way out.
The current transfer budget for this season has been set at £2M and the wage budget at £1.1M p/w.

10/07/09
It didn’t take long from the time LFC manager Tom Northwood mentioned that Andriy Voronin was available for trade until the first teams showed interest.

“Middlesbrough boss to spend transfer budget
It is being widely reported that Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is all set to spend the bulk of his transfer budget on Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin.
The striker is valued by his club at £3.1M.
Voronin has recently revealed that he was disappointed to find himself transfer-listed at Anfield and is determined to prove himself.”

In other news Liverpool today said no to an offer to play GH Academy in a friendly. Tom Northwood said he would prefer to spend the time on the practise field instead.

11/07/09
The team today decided to turn down an offer on 17-year old Hungarian GK Peter Gulácsi from Italian club Juventus. Gulácsi is a hot prospect for the future and was a regular starter for Coca-Cola League 1 team Hereford on a loan contract.

12/07/09
Liverpool have announced the latest figures from ongoing season ticket sales.
As of today, the club have sold 17465 season tickets for the upcoming season. The board expect the club to sell another 11900 season tickets in the following weeks, taking the number of season ticket holders for the upcoming season up to around 29400 in total.

Week 29
(13/07/09 – 19/07/09)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13/07/09
LFCs front office today received an official offer for DMC Lucas. The 22 year old Brazilian with two caps joined Liverpool from Gremio for £6mil and has 43 league appearances. The offer came from Genoa who are willing to pay £4.9mil. Liverpool got six days to answer the offer and they might be tempted to take it and add some money to the transfer budget. The team will likely try to get a better offer as several teams with Man City and Tottenham leading the pack, are also interested in the young Brazilian. The team still got Argentinean Javier Mascherano who can play DMC.

14/07/09
Another player Liverpool might consider trading to make more transfer money available is David Ngoc. The problem in trading the 20-year old France player is that he is conceded on of the best young talents on the team.

15/07/09
The Liverpool vs FC Bayern Friendly match on Tuesday 21st July 2009 has been chosen for live television coverage.

The first leg of the second qualifying round for the Champions League was played today. With seventeen matches played and 42 goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at Aukstaitija where a crowd of 1564 witnessed a shock result during Ekranas' 1 - 0 victory over Debrecen. Elsewhere, a brace from Yosef Luzon inspired a win for the away side during Levadia's heavy 0 - 3 defeat against M. Haifa and Adem Ljajic scored the pick of the goals in WIT-Georgia's 1 - 2 defeat against Partizan with a placed shot from close range.

16/07/09
The transfer talk really opened up for Liverpool FC today as its being widely reported that Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is all set to spend the bulk of his transfer budget on Liverpool left winger Ryan Babel. The left winger is valued by his club at £5.75M. Babel, 22, arrived at Anfield from Ajax for a fee of £14.75M in 2007. The left winger will mostly be a backup on Anfield this season as Albert Riera most likely will be the starter.

It was also reported today that LFC was in talk with Galatasaray about a possible trade for Brazilian attacking midfielder Lincoln. It’s reported that Liverpool is willing to send Andriy Voronin to Turkey in return.

17/07/09
Man City today became the second team to make a bid for Lucas. They made an offer of £6,000,000 for Lucas and have set a deadline of Saturday 25th July 2009 for Liverpool's decision
Genoa are amongst the favourites to sign Lucas and have reportedly made an offer, but Aston Villa, Tottenham and Espanyol are also said to be very interested.

At the same time has all the transfer speculations the last few days started to have an impact on the involved players. Liverpool's Ryan Babel has told BirminghamMail.net that he would be keen on joining Aston Villa, but is concerned that the media speculation surrounding such a move might have a detrimental impact on his football.
The 22 year old left winger commented that the sooner the situation was resolved, the better it would be for all parties concerned. Babel, 22, arrived at Anfield from Ajax for a fee of £14.75M in 2007. Aston Villa have still not made an official bid for the attacking midfielder from Holland.

18/07/09
The Liverpool squad came directly from the pre-season training camp to Le Mans for the first real match in the warm-up for the Premier League and it took them 38 minutes to put the first goal on the scoreboard.

MATCH REPORT:
Le Mans UC 72 0 - 3 Liverpool (Friendly)

Liverpool enjoyed near total domination over a distinctly average Le Mans UC 72 side at Stade Léon Bollée this evening.
Player Jean-Pierre Duhalde showed a sign of things to come though as he nearly gifted Liverpool a goal on 35 minutes. Israel captain Yossi Benayoun gave Liverpool the lead with a powerful effort in the 39th minute.
Striker Fernando Torres doubled Liverpool's lead with a powerful effort on 43 minutes. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard completed the rout with a powerful effort on 48 minutes.
Attendance: 14474

19/07/09
Liverpool came home from the short trip to France to find several transfer requests waiting for them.

Lazio manager Davide Ballardini is believed to be interested in securing the services of Liverpool's Andrea Dossena. Ballardini is clearly keen to add to his squad and sees the 27 year-old full-back as an ideal signing. Dossena, who has 3 years left on his current contract, has been at Anfield since July 2008.

Liverpool's Philipp Degen is reportedly a transfer target for Wigan Athletic.
Wigan manager Roberto Martínez is believed to be interested in the 26 year-old right-back and could be looking to bring him to DW Stadium in the near future.
Degen is on the transfer-list at Liverpool but remains fiercely loyal to the club and has expressed a desire to stay.

Speculation is also mounting that Wolves are keeping tabs on Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insúa as manager Mick McCarthy looks to expand the squad at Molineux. Wolves are reported to have made the full-back one of their top transfer targets and will presumably be looking to follow up their interest in the near future. Insúa signed for league runners up Liverpool in 2007.
LFCs manager Tom Northwood issued a hands off warning for the young player he considers being an important part of the first team this season.

The players got a quiet day while the team prepares for the first home game of the season. Liverpool will play Bayern München in a friendly this week. The front office also decided to turn down the offer from Genoa who made an offer worth £4,900,000 plus future incentives for Lucas. Instead the concentrate on the £6,000,000 offer they still have from Man City. Media are also still talking about Sunderland, Tottenham and Stuttgart as future destination for the young player.

21/07/09
The 44.000 showing up for the first home game of the year for Liverpool were possible a bit disappointed that both Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard started the game on the bench but with three games in five days GM Northwood have to protect his players.

MATCH REPORT:
Liverpool 1 - 2 FC Bayern München (Friendly)
FC Bayern München battled their way to a 2 - 1 victory in this evenly-matched contest between two hard-working teams. An error from Jamie Carragher allowed winger Bastian Schweinsteiger to score a placed shot. Experienced striker Miroslav Klose doubled FC Bayern's lead with a close range header on 45 minutes. Striker Dirk Kuyt's 47th minute strike proved the only consolation for The Reds.

DL Emiliano Insúa has told Football365.com that he has neither asked to leave Liverpool nor requested that he be allowed to speak to Wolves. The 20-year-old left-back added that he was under contract at Anfield and would therefore continue to work hard for the club and his team-mates.

The Liverpool Reserves had a bad first outing this week in a 0-3 loss to Charlton. Only positive comments was for Adam Pepper's performance during the match. The attacking midfielder made several key passes which had an influence on the game

With thirty-four teams in action and 38 goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at Stadion FK Partizan where a crowd of 12591 witnessed Partizan's convincing 5 - 2 aggregate win over WIT-Georgia. A possible talking point from the game being a red card for Partizan's Vladimir Milutinovic.
Elsewhere, a brace from Wasim Reuven inspired a win for the home side during M. Haifa's convincing 7 - 0 aggregate win over Levadia and Christian Ilic scored the pick of the goals in Baki's heavy 0 - 5 aggregate loss against FC RB Salzburg with a well timed close range finish.

23/07/09
The team needs to get ready for a new match on just two days rest. Once again GM Northwood decides to sit down most of the big names and give the backups a chance to show why they belong in the starting line-up.

MATCH REPORT:
Dunfermline Athletic 0 - 2 Liverpool (Friendly)
Liverpool produced a good display this evening to see off the challenge of Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park. Striker David N'Gog got Liverpool off to a flyer by scoring a placed shot on 5 minutes. Young forward Daniel Pacheco completed the scoring for Liverpool with a placed shot on 24 minutes. An error from Chris Hogg allowed N'Gog to score a placed shot. N'Gog completed the rout with a powerful effort on 80 minutes.

David N'Gog is more and more looking like the future sidekick for Torres up on top. He now got 5 goals in the pre season

26/07/09
Liverpool have announced the latest figures from ongoing season ticket sales. As of today, the club have sold 24090 season tickets for the upcoming season. The board expect the club to sell another 5300 season tickets in the following weeks, taking the number of season ticket holders for the upcoming season up to around 29400 in total.

Week 31
(27/07/09 – 02/08/09)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27/07/09
The trade for Brazilian midfielder Lincoln from Galatasaray was cancelled today. Liverpool had already agreed on a contract with Lincoln but Andriy Voronin did not manage to come to an agreement with the Turkish team. Andriy Voronin's agent has indicated that his client has rejected the contract offer from Galatasaray because he felt he is deserving of a better basic salary and he was looking for the manager to give him assurances of a key role in the team. At this point it’s unclear if Liverpool will continue to bid for Lincoln.

28/07/09
Liverpool’s Reserves were thrashed 0-4 by Cardiff City at Cardiff City Stadium this evening. Coach John McMahon commented on Adam Pepper's performance during the match. The attacking midfielder made several key passes which had an influence on the game. That’s the second time 17-year old Adam Pepper is mentioned for a good match.

29/07/09

Just two week before the start of the regular season Liverpool play there second to last friendly and this time most of the players expected to start the season is in the starting line-up including both Torres and Gerrard.

MATCH REPORT:
Bury 0 - 3 Liverpool (Friendly)
Liverpool produced a good display this evening to see off the challenge of Bury at Gigg Lane. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool the lead with a screamer from the edge of the area in the 12th minute. An error from Danny Carlton allowed striker Fernando Torres to score a placed shot which hit the inside of the post before crossing the line. The last goal of the game came from forward Ryan Lowe whose 45th minute own-goal will undoubtedly cause him some embarrassment. Once again the second half was used to give some new talent a chance to shine without it resulting in more goals.

31/07/09
Liverpool has tried to put together a new deal for Galatasaray midfielder Lincoln. Unfortunately the lack of cash is hurting them and at this point it looks unlikely that a deal will be done. That means that LFC likely will start Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt as the attacking midfielders on opening day. Dirk Kuyt have played very well in the friendly games and got he second highest rating (7.27) only behind GK José Manuel Reina (7.30).

01/08/09

The new boss on Anfield road don’t talk much to the media but today Liverpool’s GM Thomas Northwood indicated that he is thinking about launching a bid to sign R.C.D. Espanyol de Barcelona S.A.D.'s Raúl Tamudo. Northwood stated that Tamudo was currently in his thoughts but no decision will be made until he has weighed up all his options first.

Raúl Tamudo told the Spanish media that he was surprised and flattered with the interest shown in him from Liverpool's Tom Northwood. Tamudo continued by stating that the opportunity to play for a team of Liverpool's stature doesn't come along too often and that if the opportunity does arise then he would give it serious consideration.

What can stop a possible buy of Tamudo is the other news out of Anfield today.
The loan repayment is to begin this month. The club is now required to make monthly repayments of £2.5M towards the £240M bank loan taken out earlier.

02/08/09
The last test before the Premier Division kicks off 15/8 is against Huddersfield and it wasn’t pretty.

MATCH REPORT:
Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Liverpool (Friendly)
Huddersfield Town pulled off a great shock today with a 2 - 1 victory over Liverpool. Huddersfield finally took the lead when striker Joe Garner scored a placed shot on 45 minutes. Young full-back Stephen Darby then equalised for Liverpool in the 50th minute with an effort which hit the inside of the post before crossing the line. With just a few days to the start of the season transfer talk is running wild. LFC finally decided to turn down the £9mil offer from Man City for Lucas. Instead they accepted offers from Sunderland on Ryan Babel and from Chelsea on AMC Daniel Pacheco. Those two transfers will be worth a combined £6.85mil and hopefully be enough to make a bid for Raúl Tamudo that Espanyol will accept.

A team without cash problems is Man City. They have just completed the deal for Maxi Rodríguez from At. Madrid. The price was £20.5M plus clauses

With fifteen matches played and 33 goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at RSC Olympiyskyi where a crowd of 23920 witnessed Shakhtar's convincing 4 - 1 aggregate win over FC Twente. A possible talking point from the game being a red card for Shakhtar's Tomás Hübschman.
Elsewhere, Liédson scored a placed shot from the edge of the area during Dinamo Moscow's heavy 0 - 5 aggregate loss against Sporting CP and 58072 watched Celtic's convincing 5 - 1 aggregate win over Sparta Prague where Scott Brown scored the pick of the goals with a placed shot from close range.
Norwegian team Stabæk managed to turn around a 0-2 deficit form the first game with a 3-0 win at home over Levski from Bulgaria. And the Danish champions FC København had no trouble beating Finish FC Inter with a total of 4-0 over the two games.

06/08/09
Eight of LFC players have been called up for international duty next week. GM Northwood has asked that the players looking to be in the starting line-up for the season opener will only play 45 minutes. That is Yossi Benayoun, Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insúa

Match Date: August 11th.
France Under 21s: David N'Gog

Match Date: August 12th.
Iceland: Victor Pálsson
Israel: Yossi Benayoun
Ukraine: Andriy Voronin
Hungary: Krisztián Németh and András Simon
Argentina: Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insúa

Late this afternoon confirmation came thru that Espanyol have accepted the £7.4M offer from Liverpool for Raúl Tamudo. LFC now just have to agree on the personal contract with Tamudo. The personal contract might be a problem for GM Northwood as the LFC board is not willing to spend a lot of money on weekly pay checks either. They will not spend more then £12.500 pr week and that’s almost £15.000 less then what Tamudo is asking for.
They will also need for the sale of Ryan Babel and Daniel Pacheco will go thru to raise the transfer money necessary.

07/08/09
The work to get Manudo to Anfiled is quickly coming apart. Liverpool's Daniel Pacheco has rejected the contract offer from Chelsea. Pacheco stated that the following issues caused the deal to collapse:
- He isn't happy with the duration of the contract.
- He would prefer a substantial bonus for his appearances in the first team.
With that deal down the drain LFC will likely not have enough money to make the Raúl Tamudo deal.

08/08/09
On the same day the agent for Raúl Tamudo officially turn down the Liverpool offer due to the low base salary the sale of Ryan Babel to Man City is finally completed. The sale will add £7mil to the Reds transfer budget that has been close to none existing until now.

09/08/09
Man U dominated most of the Community Shield game against Chelsea and the goal by Guiseppe Rosi looked to be the winning goal for a long time. But two late goals by Chelsea (Alex 66 and Joe Cole 85) turned the picture around and gives Chelsea there first win since 2005

Liverpool today picked captains for the upcoming season. Like previous years Steven Gerrard was the clear choice as captain but it was a bit of a surprise that GM Tom Northwood picked Javier Mascherano as Vice-captain instead of Jamie Carragher who held that duty before.

Liverpool: 4-7(Fav) Draw: 5-2 Portsmouth: 4-1 (English Premier Division)

In the last press conference before the season kicks off tomorrow Thomas Northwood appeared in good spirits when he met journalists ahead of Liverpool's match against Portsmouth in the English Premier Division. A journalist from the Liverpool Echo chose the main focus point for the conference, asking, "How would you describe your relationship with Paul Hart currently?"
Northwood's response was, "We have a strong understanding and a great mutual respect for each other."
It is thought that the Liverpool squad should react well to Northwood's handling of the question.

Northwood's response was, "Fábio Aurélio had a good solid game and I expect to see more of the same."
There is speculation that Fábio Aurélio will be buoyed by Northwood's positive words.

16/08/09
Portsmouth had a controversial penalty appeal turned down in the 38th minute during Portsmouth's 0 - 2 English Premier Division defeat against Liverpool. Kevin-Prince Boateng believed that the referee had missed a blatant foul by Philipp Degen in the box and that Portsmouth should have been awarded a penalty. Portsmouth boss Paul Hart refused to openly criticise the referee after the match, claiming that he was not prepared to risk being reprimanded by the FA.

Liverpool have announced the final sales figures for season tickets.

Man City has still not given up on DMC Lucas. Today’s they once again offered LFC £9mil for the 22-year old Brazilian. Liverpool turned down the same offer a few weeks back and will not accept it this time either. But instead of turning it down straight away they have decided to negotiate with Man City to see if they can get any more out of a possible deal. They are looking at getting Man City to add FC Benjni to the deal.

Liverpool is also preparing for the second game of the regular season against West Ham. They lost there first game of the year 0-2 to Chelsea and will be desperately looking for a win.

A controversial penalty was given in the 90th minute during West Ham's 1 - 3 English Premier Division defeat against Liverpool. West Ham defensive midfielder Radoslav Kovac revealed after the match that he felt that a penalty was a harsh decision for his team-mate Jonathan Spector.
West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola refused to openly criticise the referee after the match, claiming that he was not prepared to risk being reprimanded by the FA.
Liverpool’s manager Tom Northwood also declined to answer questions about the penalty in his press conference after the game. He instead spend time praising West Hams keeper Robert Green who had a great game and was named player of the game.

It’s early in the season but the Liverpool supporters are still delighted to see the Reds on top of the division standing. The fans were pleased with the amount of times the team managed to test the opposition goalkeeper. Fábio Aurélio, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres particularly impressed the fans.

Clubs are still contacting Liverpool requesting about players. LFC once again turned down Genoas bid to loan (with option to buy) of Lucas. It’s also reported that Stoke is now looking in to the possibilities to buy Emiliano Insúa. Tom Northwood issued a hands off warning.

The first leg of the final qualifying round for the Champions league was played today. With ten matches played and 22 goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at Emirates Stadium where a crowd of 60361 witnessed Arsenal's 0 - 1 defeat against At. Madrid. The game was marred however by an injury to Arsenal's Philippe Senderos. Three other Gunners players also picked up injuries in the game.

With six teams in action and 14 goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at Old Trafford where a crowd of 76212 witnessed Man Utd's convincing 6 - 1 victory over Tottenham. 21/08/09
The Liverpool Reserves had another bad day as they lost 0 - 3 to the Man Utd Reserves. Coach John McMahon was present and commented on Nicolaj Køhlert's good performance during the match. The Liverpool Reserves have still not won a game this season.

Emiliano Insúa has told Sky Sports News that he has neither asked to leave Liverpool nor requested that he be allowed to speak to Stoke. The 20-year-old left-back added that he was under contract at Anfield and would therefore continue to work hard for the club and his team-mates.
Insúa signed for league runners up Liverpool in 2007.

22/08/09
Today’s match will be a clash between the #1 and # 2 team in the Premier League. Blackburn won the first game of the season over Birmingham and then tied Chelsea in an exciting 3-3 draw earlier this week.

MATCH REPORT:
Liverpool 2 - 0 Blackburn Rovers (Premier Division)
An efficient performance by Liverpool's players saw them confidently overcome a lacklustre Blackburn Rovers 2 - 0 at Anfield. Gerrard's presence on the pitch was an inspiration to his team and the attacking midfielder finished the game with two goals to cap a scintillating performance from the Liverpool skipper. Gerrard, who was born in Liverpool, has 4 years left on his contract and has recently confirmed his happiness at playing for his local club.
Supporter spokesperson Richard Martin feels the fans are pleased with Liverpool's 2 - 0 English Premier Division victory over Blackburn.
Liverpool have notched up three straight wins and the title contenders occupy 1st place in the English Premier Division.

25/08/09
The time is running out for Liverpool if they wants to improve there roster. The transfer deadline for English clubs is in one week and no new players have yet set foot on Anfield Road.

26/08/09
Second round of the English League Cup is played today. A series of upsets marked the Second Round as a number of big clubs were knocked out by their opponents from lower divisions. The biggest shock came as Coca-Cola League 1 team Oldham Athletic eliminated Premier Division team Portsmouth at Boundary Park. Millwall are also through to the Third Round as they stunned newly-promoted Birmingham City at The Den.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Morecambe, Bolton Wanderers, Crewe Alexandra and Southend United. At Ewood Park where a crowd of 17811 witnessed a shock result during Blackburn's 0 - 1 defeat against Leicester.
Andrew Wright scored a well timed close range finish during West Ham's 0 - 2 defeat against Scunthorpe and 7066 watched Cheltenham's 1 - 3 defeat against Wigan where Erik Edman scored the pick of the goals with a placed close range header.

In the final game of the Champions league qualifying a lot of pressure was on Arsenal as they had to win on the road to make it to the promised land. At Vicente Calderón a crowd of 54851 witnessed At. Madrid's play to a 1 – 1 draw and advance on a 2-1 aggregate.
Elsewhere, Giorgos Samaras scored a subtle chip over the keeper during Olympique Lyonnais' convincing 5 - 2 aggregate win over Celtic and 51709 watched Stuttgart's away goal loss against Anderlecht where Tom De Sutter scored the pick of the goals with a well timed close range finish.

Together with the 31 other teams qualified for the European Champions League Group Stage Liverpool was awarded £3,826,000. Liverpool was seeded in the first group together with teams like Barcelona, Man United and AC Milan.

Liverpool ended up in a group they should be able to win. They will play Porto from Portugal who won the Champions League in 1987 and 2004, Bordeaux from France and Stabæk from Norway. The toughest group is a close race between group A with Barcelona, Inter and Anderlecht and group G where Bayer Munich, Juventus and At Madrid, where three good teams will have to fight for just two spots in the final-16.

28/08/09
The 3rd round of the English League Cup was drawn today. Half of the 32 teams are not from the top division but Liverpool still managed to draw another Premier League team. Liverpool will play Hull who moved up to the top division this year.

The betting line for tomorrow’s game against Birmingham has also been set.
Birmingham: 3-1 Draw: 2-1 Liverpool: 4-5(Fav)

New manager Tom Northwood finally managed to complete his first new signing since joining the club over 6 weeks ago. Liverpool has agreed to pay Croatian club NK Dinamo £2.1mil for 20-year old AMC Milan Badelj. He got his international debut just a few weeks ago and will hopefully join the club in a few days when his request for a work permit has been approved.

29/08/09
The biggest concern for Liverpool before this week’s game was to not underestimate the winless Birmingham City team.

MATCH REPORT:
Birmingham City 0 - 3 Liverpool (Premier Division)
Liverpool enjoyed near total domination over a distinctly average Birmingham City side at St. Andrews this afternoon. A brace from Fernando Torres helped Liverpool to victory.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool the lead with a powerful close range effort in the 20th minute. Striker Fernando Torres doubled Liverpool's lead with a powerful effort from the edge of the area on 34 minutes. Torres completed the rout with a curling shot from the edge of the area on 80 minutes.
Fernando Torres was named man of the match after the game. Torres had the quality to put the Birmingham City defence to the sword and finished the match with two goals. Torres, 25, arrived at Anfield from At. Madrid for a fee of £22M in 2007.

I am following along. I don't know how much you follow Liverpool in real life, but they are a wreck right now. It looks like they will not advance out of the CL group stages. Gerrard and Johnson are among the many players out with injuries. The back four has looked different almost every week.

You will do fine with Liverpool as long as you don't face too many injuries. There is very little depth on the team. Voronin and Kyrgiacos are crap. If Torres and Gerrard get hurt, you are going to be in trouble. I would get a backup striker ASAP, and I would have held on to Babel as well.

This also Hull City's second season in the Premiership. The promoted clubs this season were Birmingham, Burnley, and Wolverhampton.

How much did Man U pay to get Rossi?

Thanks for reading GE.

I watched Liverpool’s CL game last night where they were a bit unlucky to only get he draw. When that is said they are a team completely without confidence. The sale of Alonso hurts them a lot.

I completely agree with your breakdown. The first 11 is good but any injury will kill the team. I tried to sell Voronin but nobody wanted him and Kyrgiacos is only playing until Daniel Agger comes back.

I sold Babel to get some transfer money but as it turned out it didn’t help me much. David N`Gog have done pretty well when getting the chance so he will have to do as backup this year.

Man U paid £14mil for Rossi and another £14.5mil for Antonio Di Natale from Udinese.

Week 36
(31/08/09 – 06/09/09)

31/08/09
Good and bad news for LFC today. Good news was that both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres were selected in the English Premier Division Team of the Week first eleven after excellent performances in the weekend’s game.

The bad news was that Milan Badelj's proposed move to Liverpool has been cancelled after the appeal for a work permit was turned down.
LFC now got less then 48hrs if they wants to improve there roster before the transfer window closes. Manager Tom Northwood currently got £8.7mil in available transfer founds.

01/09/09
After a busy day yesterday for the front office with several telephones to different clubs around the world LFC still came up empty handed.

If they didn’t manage to secure any new players the team did win some prices for the nice play in august.
Liverpool's Gerrard scoops Player of the Month award after he wowed the fans at Anfield this month with some outstanding performances. The world-class midfielder has looked in great shape, bagging a remarkable five goals in only four appearances for his club last month.
With not much to choose between the top three, West Ham's Robert Green took second place and Joe Cole of Chelsea came third.

But a lot more surprising was that Liverpool's rookie GM Tom Northwood has won the English Premier Division Manager of the Month award. The award panel made their decision after the Reds boss guided his team to victory in all four of their league games this month.

(PRM) Liverpool 2 - 0 Portsmouth (15th Aug)
(PRM) Liverpool 3 - 1 West Ham (18th Aug)
(PRM) Liverpool 2 - 0 Blackburn (22nd Aug)
(PRM) Liverpool 3 - 0 Birmingham (29th Aug)

With not much to choose between the top three, Wigan's Roberto Martínez took second place and Carlo Ancelotti of Chelsea came third.

02/09/09
So much work, so little results. When the transfer window for clubs in the best English division closed at midnight LFC had still not signed a single new player. The closest they came was on a deal for Nicolás Otamendi from Vélez and Dudu from Cuzeiro.
Liverpool will now just hope that the current tam can stay healthy but with the upcoming program the team might be inn for some trouble.

1.9.2009 - End of transfer window
5.9.2009 - England v Slovenia (Friendly)
9.9.2009 - England v Croatia (World Cup Quals (EUR))
12.9.2009 - Liverpool v Chelsea (Premier Division)
15.9.2009 - Girondins Bordeaux v Liverpool (Champions Cup)
19.9.2009 - Sunderland v Liverpool (Premier Division)
22.9.2009 - Hull v Liverpool (League Cup)
26.9.2009 - Wigan v Liverpool (Premier Division)
30.9.2009 - Liverpool v Porto (Champions Cup)

03/09/09
Arsenal in trouble? After the first 4 games of the season the Gunners have still only won one game in the new season. yesterday was another loss, this time 1-4 to Man City and on top of that they lost another starting player in Nicklas Bendtner to injury.

04/09/09
A global transfer ban has been placed upon Chelsea until Friday 3rd September 2010. Chelsea will not be able to sign players during this period. The rest of the league can only hope the same will happen to Man City soon.

05/09/09
Several Liverpool players had good performances for there national teams today. Best performance was possible by Yossi Benayoun who scored twice in Israel’s 4-0 win over Latvia in the World Cup qualifier. Lucas also got his first international goal for Brazil in the draw with Argentina.

06/09/09
Liverpool was also selected for 9 TV-matches in the nest four months.
Saturday 19th September 2009 - Sunderland v Liverpool
Saturday 3rd October 2009 - Liverpool v Man City
Saturday 24th October 2009 - Tottenham v Liverpool
Saturday 7th November 2009 - Liverpool v Hull

Another thing that I noticed is that your fixtures are off. I wonder why that is. Liverpool opened the season with a trip to Tottenham, while your first game was hosting Portsmouth. I would think FM would have the real schedules for the first year. Chelsea and Bordeaux back to back will be tough, but you should be able to rest some starters against Sunderland and Hull. Stabaek has a Norweigan/American player by the name of Mikkel Diskerud. I wonder if you will see him in the Champions League.

I long to see the day Real Betis ascends past F.C. Sevilla.

BTW, what's the deal with Chelsea and the global transfer ban?

I noticed that as well. I’m not sure why the schedule is different in the game from RL. I just started the game out of the box.
I will properly start to rest players when the no-loosing streak ends. I will also have to play backups in all the minor tournaments to keep the team healthy.

As for Stabæk I now a bit about them as I live in Norway. They won the Norwegian Championship (Tippeligaen) last season. They have a Swedish coach and are one of the few teams in Norway that plays attractive attacking football. They play all home game in an indoor arena with artificial grass.
I had no idée that Mikkel Diskerud was half American. He is a fringe player for Stabæk and only started 5 games this season. Mikkel Diskerud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Daniel Nanskog is the best player on the roster today after they sold Alanzinho to Trabzonspor for close to £4mil.
Unfortunately the database is started the game with is not big enough for them to be in the game.

On 3 September 2009 Chelsea F.C. were banned from registering any new players in the January and Summer 2010 transfer windows, after FIFA's dispute resolution chamber (DRC) ruled that French winger Gael Kakuta had breached his contract with French club RC Lens when he joined Chelsea in 2007, and that Chelsea had induced him to do so.

But this morning, the CAS (Court of Arbitrary Sport) overruled the decision made by FIFA and is allowing for Chelsea to postpone the transfer ban. They will be able to add players in the January window. I am sure they will stock up on some talent as long as the money is available.

That was pretty much expected.

According to the SIGames Podcast they even have a patch ready that will reverse the ban in the game.

Week 37
(07/09/09 – 13/09/09)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

07/09/09
Dave Galley has reported that there are still a few injury problems persisting within the Liverpool squad. Daniel Agger (damaged spine) is still a couple of weeks away from returning to full training and the English Premier Division match against Wigan on Saturday 26th September could be considered a realistic target for a possible return.

Liverpool have record their first defeat in the Premier Division for nine games. The Reds may be top of the league but were brought back down to earth with a defeat.
Liverpool’s fans were devastated by the Stoke result. Supporter spokesperson Richard Martin believes the fans are very disappointed with Liverpool's 1 - 2 English Premier Division defeat against Stoke.

Liverpool manager Thomas Northwood has been warned by the Football Association for his comments following Liverpool's 1 - 2 English Premier Division defeat against Stoke. Northwood had reacted badly to his side being denied what he believed to be a clear penalty, although replays have since shown that the officials made the right decision.

The loss just highlights the problem Liverpool faces this year. Without Gerrard and Torres in the starting line-up the team struggle to create chances and score goals. Without them in the starting line-up the team will not win many games.

Shawcross is a useful player. He will not be at Stoke for long. In fact, he was linked to Liverpool during the last transfer window.

In my opinion, Reina is the best keeper in the EPL. He can afford to goof off during a training session or two.

Can not say I know Shawcross from RL but he looks like a nice prospects in the game. Apparently he came up thru the Man United youth system.

Both Reina and Cavalieri have done very well with Cavalieri having the small edge (7.08>6.66). None of them have made any mistakes so at this point the Reinas poor showing in practise cost him his starting spot.

Would like an option to tell a player why his is not playing a specific game (rest, match up, poor performance).

This Arsenal team has been extremely unlucky with injuries. Several key players have been out for a long time.

Considering that Arsenal is the only club to have there own edition of FM10 available I doubt that the game really hates them.

Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc heaped praise on David N'Gog after the game. Blanc stated that he was impressed with how well N'Gog had played against his side and thought he was one of the best players on the pitch.
Interest in N'Gog is thought to be high, with Girondins Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs rumoured to be looking at the player.
Speaking to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain boss Antoine Kombouaré was full of encouragement for Liverpool striker David N'Gog. Kombouaré enthused that N'Gog is showing that he has real class and that if he continues to progress then anything is possible for the youngster.

Striker Marlon Harewood got Aston Villa off to a flyer by scoring a close range effort on 5 minutes. Winger Ashley Young completed the scoring for Aston Villa with a screamer from the edge of the area on 20 minutes.
Things went from bad to worse for Liverpool as centre-back Daniel Agger earned himself an early bath for a vicious foul on 22 minutes. Liverpool were nearly gifted a goal on 75 minutes through Curtis Davies' lapse in concentration but they failed to capitalise on the opportunity presented to them.

Liverpool Man of the Match: Jamie Carragher (6.9)

Daniel Agger has been given an automatic one match ban after being sent off in the Premier Division match between Liverpool and Aston Villa. The ban will apply for all English domestic competitions and will start on Saturday 28th November 2009.
A disciplinary committee will be meeting on Saturday 5th December 2009 and may decide to extend the ban.
Supporter spokesperson Richard Martin believes the fans are very disappointed with Liverpool's 0 - 2 English Premier Division defeat against Aston Villa. Daniel Agger, Emiliano Insúa and Yossi Benayoun were the main targets for the fans' criticism and Martin Skrtel was one of the players mentioned who they would have preferred to see in the starting line-up.

The biggest shock of the English FA Cup Second Round was a win for Blue Square Premier team Salisbury City against struggling Bristol Rovers. Rotherham United are also through to the Third Round as they beat Coca-Cola League 1 side Gillingham at Don Valley Stadium.
Elsewhere, there were wins for AFC Bournemouth, Cheltenham Town, Charlton Athletic and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The only good new for Liverpool this weekend was that they remained in first place in the League. Chelsea only managed 2-2 against Fulham and in a perhaps even bigger surprise then the Liverpool loss, Man U lost 3-1 to a struggling West Ham.

06/12/09
Supporter spokesperson Richard Martin believes the fans are disappointed with Liverpool's English Premier Division 1 - 1 draw with Fulham. Fernando Torres in particular was singled out as having underperformed.

The top of the Premier League is moving closer together. Early in the season it looked like Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool would run away in the top of the league. Man U have lost there last two games and Chelsea got two draws and Liverpool only managed a loss and a draw. Still Liverpool has climbed above Chelsea to 1st in the English Premier Division.
With the top-3 teams loosing points there are potential 8 teams within 5 points at the top of the table.

Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has revealed he is concerned by the lack of discipline at the club. He did not elaborate exactly what he was talking about. Liverpool are on top of the yellow card list (34) but the fact that Jamie Carragher was not named backup captain this season might also be part of his “problem”.

After he was hailed by Paris Saint-Germain boss Antoine Kombouaré, Liverpool's striker David N'Gog responded in an grateful manner. N'Gog indicated that although it is nice to receive praise from some managers, he just wants to concentrate on improving his game.

Liverpool go into this away game with every chance of walking away with something against slight favourites Porto, according to Sky Bet (Porto: 6-4 Draw: 2-1 Liverpool: 13-8). Both clubs will be doing everything they can to ensure victory.

Galley advises you that Agger will be treated by the club's physios. It is likely that Agger will be out for between 4 days and 5 days whilst he is treated.

Supporter spokesperson Richard Martin believes the fans are disappointed with Liverpool's 1 - 3 European Champions Cup Group D defeat against Porto. Sotiris Kyrgiakos and Emmanuel Mendy were the main targets for the fans' criticism and there were some who stated that players such as Glen Johnson and Jamie Carragher should have been preferred in the starting line-up. Manager Tom Northwood said it was important that some of the regular players got a chance to rest and that new players gets a chance to play on the highest level. With the spot in the next round already secured this was a perfect game to accomplice just that.

10/12/09
A bad start to the week just got a lot worse when Dave Galley reported that attacking midfielder Steven Gerrard has sustained a chest injury while lifting weights during training. Galley advises that a chest injury can either be treated by the club's physios or managed by injections.
Injections: Will get through the next game against Bolton but could then be out for between 12 days and 2 weeks.
Physio: Out for between 9 days and 11 days.
Gerrard will be treated at Liverpool by the club's physios.

11/12/09
High-flying Bolton Wanderers are slight underdogs (Bolton: 7-4 Draw: 11-5 Liverpool: 5-4) in what should prove a tightly contested affair against league leaders Liverpool, according to Sky Bet. Premier Division title contenders Liverpool are currently lying in 1st place in the table while Bolton have been performing above expectations in the English Premier Division so far this season and find themselves in 5th place.

12/12/09
Reds ease past Bolton

vs.

MATCH REPORT:
Bolton Wanderers 0 - 1 Liverpool (Premier Division)
Liverpool produced a good display this evening to see off the challenge of Bolton Wanderers at Reebok Stadium. The first incident of note was on 38 minutes as Liverpool were denied claims by Javier Mascherano for a penalty. With the game nearing an end, it was David N'Gog who scored a close range effort to give Liverpool the lead on 80 minutes.
N'Gog's impact delighted the fans with his late goal. Both teams had a number of attempts at goal, which promised much, but the quality of finishing was poor throughout.
Attendance: 27723
Liverpool Man of the Match: José Manuel Reina (7.8)

13/12/09
José Manuel Reina was the best player on the park during Liverpool's 1 - 0 English Premier Division victory over Bolton this evening and the margin of victory should have been even greater. The Liverpool goalkeeper looked safe enough when called upon and the clean sheet will have done wonders for his confidence.
Other impressive performances was turned inn by players like Glen Johnson and David N'Gog, leaving the likes of Philipp Degen wondering how he will break into the side.

The best viewing of the weekend was to be found at Old Trafford where a crowd of 75023 witnessed Man Utd's heavy 1 - 4 defeat against Chelsea. The highlight of that match being a superb hat-trick for Chelsea's Didier Drogba. With that win Chelsea dropped Liverpool one place to 2nd in the English Premier Division, with Chelsea climbing above them on goal difference.
Elsewhere, a hat-trick from Eduardo inspired a win for the home side during Arsenal's convincing 5 - 2 victory over Birmingham and Andy Johnson scored the pick of the goals in Fulham's 2 - 2 draw with Man City with a well timed close range finish.

That sounds reasonable. Properly just a coincidence that it was Carragher speaking out.

I didn’t appeal as the red card was properly correct (two footed tackle) but I didn’t discipline him either as it was his first such mistake. Guess a direct red card from now on is worth a weeks pay.

Carragher is just acting up a bit. He got something going that he thinks he will be a great manager when his playing career is over.

Week 51
(14/12/09 – 20/12/09)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14/12/09
This week will be one of the most important in the calendar for both Liverpool players and fans. With home game against city rivals Everton and against Man U this week will be like an early Christmas for all Liverpool fans. The city rivalry against a well playing Everton team is always a season highlight on Anfield Road. The rivalry with Man U might have the same importance in Liverpool but a win against the Red Devils is not fare behind.

15/12/09
Confident performance from The Reds against tame Everton team

vs.

MATCH REPORT:
Liverpool 4 - 1 Everton (Premier Division)
An efficient performance by Liverpool's players saw them confidently overcome a lacklustre Everton 4 - 1 at Anfield. A brace from Fernando Torres helped Liverpool to victory. Striker Fernando Torres got Liverpool off to a flyer by scoring a placed shot on 5 minutes. Striker David N'Gog doubled Liverpool's lead with a well timed close range finish on 21 minutes. An error from Lucas Neill allowed Torres to score a well timed close range finish.
Enthusiastic striker James Vaughan pulled one back for Everton after 69 minutes with a powerful close range effort which was deflected on its way in. Full-back Emiliano Insúa completed the rout with a well timed close range finish on 75 minutes.
Attendance: 45362
Liverpool Man of the Match: Fernando Torres (8.5)

Liverpool decided to come out in a 4-4-2 formation for the first time this season. Main reason for the change is the injury that leaves LFC without a quality starting AMC. It was also pointed out before the game by the Liverpool staff that Everton was struggling against teams playing in a 4-4-2 formation.

16/12/09
Perhaps just as important as the win (of cause not for the fans) is that fact that a small hole has opened up again in the top of the table. Chelsea and Liverpool is now 8 points clear of Manchester U and the rest of the persuaders.

17/12/09
The draw for the first round of the knockout stage was held today. Liverpool did not have much luck in the draw as they have been paired with Real Madrid. Liverpool and Real Madrid C.F. actually played each other in the final of the Champions Cup back in 1981, with The Reds lifting the trophy on that occasion.
Other great matchups in the first knockout stage will be Barcelona – Chelsea and Man U – Glasgow Rangers.

18/12/09
Liverpool have been touted as comfortable favourites (Liverpool: 4-6 Draw: 9-4 Man Utd: 7-2) but will have to be wary about complacency when taking on Man Utd this Sunday, according to Sky Bet. Liverpool are currently on a three match unbeaten run and the title contenders lie in 2nd place in the English Premier Division.
Man Utd's English Premier Division 0 - 0 draw with Birmingham last Tuesday sees Ferguson's side currently 3rd in the Premier Division with 31 points from 17 matches.
Liverpool will likely play the 4-4-2 formation again this weekend against Manchester United. The reasoning behind that move is that Steven Gerrard is still not expected ready to play and the Red Devils struggles against that formation according to LFC Assistant Manager Sammy Lee.

19/12/09
Despite the loss earlier this week to Liverpool, Everton continue to impress in this year Premier League. In this Saturdays early game they beat Man City on the road and that win moved them up to 3rd in the standing. The surprise player has been 30-year old Australian AMC Tim Cahill (7.28) with 7 goals and 4 assists.

20/12/09
Liverpool fortunate to beat Man Utd

vs.

MATCH REPORT:
Liverpool 2 - 1 Manchester United (Premier Division)
Liverpool recorded a somewhat fortuitous win over Manchester United on a fine afternoon at Anfield. Liverpool finally took the lead when Israel captain Yossi Benayoun scored a well timed close range finish on 45 minutes. Striker Fernando Torres doubled Liverpool's lead with a placed shot on 52 minutes. Striker Wayne Rooney managed to grab the consolation for Man Utd in the 56th minute with a well timed close range finish.
Attendance: 45362
Liverpool Man of the Match: Yossi Benayoun (7.7)

Manager Tom Northwood’s actions almost cost Liverpool the win today. His tactic in the first half was excellent when his team instead of the normal all-out attack sat back and waited out Man U and played counterattack football instead. But in the second half his calls was more questionable. Shifting to a 4-5-1 formation and then 5-4-1 was not a good move and when Dirk Kuyt was injured (dead leg, out 2 to 3 days) he suddenly found himself without a substitute to replace. Despite being a man down for the last 15 minutes Liverpool managed to hang on to the win.

Yossi Benayoun had a fine game this afternoon during Liverpool's 2 - 1 English Premier Division victory over Man Utd but it was a tight match that could really have gone either way. Benayoun put in an impressive performance for Liverpool and his goal will have been the icing on the cake for the right winger. Benayoun has been in superb form for Liverpool so far this season, contributing four goals and seven assists in twenty-four appearances.
Even Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson heaped praise on Liverpool right winger Yossi Benayoun. Ferguson stated that he was impressed with how well Benayoun had played against his side and thought he was one of the best players on the pitch.

Barcelona have lost in the Club World Championship Final on penalties after a 2 - 2 draw with Estudiantes (LP) at Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium. The game was decided on penalties where Estudiantes from Argentina won 5-4. The missed penalty was by Dmytro Chygrynskyi who Barcelona bought from Shakthtar for £21mil before the season.

Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres were selected in the English Premier Division Team of the Week first eleven. They can now together with the rest of the Liverpool first team take a nice Christmas holiday as the team don’t have any games until 28des.

It is being widely reported that Birmingham boss Dave Jones is all set to spend the bulk of his transfer budget on Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insúa. The left-back is valued by his club at £5M.
Insúa has been looking to establish himself as a regular at Anfield this season and has performed well in the eighteen appearances he has made in a Liverpool shirt this season.
Insúa has been one of manager Tom Northwood’s early favourites and it’s therefore highly unlikely that he will leave Anfield at this time.

Andriy Voronin has sustained a broken collarbone after falling awkwardly during the match against Burnley Reserves. It is likely that Voronin will be out for between 6 weeks and 7 weeks whilst he is treated. This is bad news as Liverpool hoped to sell Voronin when the transfer window opens again in a few days.
Despite his £28.000 a week salary Voronin has struggled to make any kind of impact even on the reserves team. That together with some impressive play from David N’Gog has made Voronin irrelevant in Liverpool.

Barcelona today lost there first league game of the year. A 3-1 defeat to Valencia on the road drops them to “only “ second in the Spanish league behind Real Madrid on equal points but with two games less played.
