Well it finally happened ...
The ACC champ went undefeated The Big Ten champ went undefeated The Big 12 champ went undefeated The Big East champ went undefeated The Pac 10 champ went undefeated The SEC champ went undefeated The BCS was in shambles ... major controversy over who played for the BCS Championship. The public got what it wanted ... A 16 Team Playoff for the Championship! But, first the landscape of NCAA Football needed to change. The "powers that be" stated that there must be 10 conferences each consisting of 12 teams. Each conference will have a Conference Championship game. The winner of each Conferene Championship game will automatically get a seed in the BCS Championship Playoff Bracket. The remaining 6 seeds will go to the highest ranking teams left over in the BCS Standings. --------------------------------------------------- I am not too sure how to realign the conferences. I am looking to the board for some suggestions. On one hand I would like to realign to offer more regional rivalries and on the other hand I would like to keep with some of the traditional conference setups. Please give me some of your ideas of realigning under the rules I stated. Thanks in advance. How things are currently: Code:

Hmm...well, there's only 119 I-A teams, so where's #120 coming from? As to realignment, basically keep the 12-team leagues intact. Move all the independents into the Big East (may or may not include ND, depending on whether you'd want them in the Big 10 instead). Move BYU and Utah into the Pac-10 as has long been suggested to make 12 there. Move Boise, Fresno, San Jose State, Hawaii, and Nevada into the MWC (call it the WAC again for history's sake), then add the leftover WAC teams to the Sun Belt for a final 12-team league. This will mean that whoever is team #120 ends up in either the Big Ten or Big East depending on where you want ND to be. (Probably Big East simply because I can't see the Big 10 taking on any sort of new I-A school and they'd only expand for ND, though there's always been speculation that Missouri could move into the B10 and Arkansas moves to the B12 to rejoin its old SWC rivals in Texas, but then who'd move into the SEC?)

Wolfpack ... good point. I forgot to mention the #120th team.
I was going to promote a Div 1-AA team up to play with the big boys. I like your proposal. Since I am Big 10 fan, I will surely put ND in there. One thought I have been having is moving Penn State back to the Big East and bringing Iowa State or Missouri into the Big 10 (then moving Colorado State into the Big 12). I am going to try and keep the existing names for the conferences and try to keep it geographically correct. For example, I don't want Fresno State in the Big East. Nor do I want Temple in the WAC. I will use Conference USA as my "wildcard" conference. Can stretch all over the US without geographic consequences. I already came up with one realignment that moved a lot of teams around and is geographically correct. I will post that later today. I am working on another that is more along the lines of what you were suggesting (minimal conference movement in the bigger conferences).

If you're such a Big Ten fan, why would you want to ruin the conference by adding Notre Dame?
Anyway, I'll be watching. |

True. But it is the most logical school to step into the Big Ten. Would be nice to see them play a tougher schedule than usual.

I personally prefer the 1st option better, that gives teams a different look, and should make for a much more interesting dynasty.

Cast my vote for option 1 as well, though I wish it was BYU and Utah in the Pac-10

Thanks for the input guys!
I am leaning towards #1 ... the only thing I am mulling over is the Big Texas conference. Not sure I like it. I might try another realignment trying to keep most of the Big 12 together.

Proposal #1A Quote:
I think that this is the one I will go with. Was able to keep the Big Twelve together, essentially.

I still like the first proposal better. I'd like to see the conferences split up a little more than what they are in the new proposal

I think there is enough movement in 1A ... I just didn't really like the Big Texas Conference. I'm going to go with 1A. I will not ne able to get this going for a week or so ... Look for a new thread detailing the beginnning.
